‘This IS the Hill We Need to Die On’ – RFK Jr Delivers a Message Every American Needs to Hear

I’ve never been a fan of the Kennedy family.

But after watching a podcast Robert F. Kennedy Jr. had recorded last spring called “Truth,” I began to follow him.

Recounting an experience he’d had at a recent political rally in Berlin, Kennedy said, “I was shaking hands and I wasn’t wearing a mask. Nobody was. There were a million people there and no one was wearing a mask. An NBC crew came up and said, ‘Aren’t you scared of getting the coronavirus?’ I said, ‘There’s something I’m more fearful of.’ They asked, ‘Like what?’ ‘Like losing my constitutional rights.’”

He continued, “The American Revolution took place because you had people who were willing to die for the Constitution. Not lose their rights. The Constitution was not written for easy times or popular speech. … It was built for emergencies and to protect the speech that was unpopular, that was dissenting government policies. … For hundreds of years, our government protected that right religiously. You get to say things that offend other people.”

Recalling the occasion when a group of neo-Nazis demanded the right to march in Skokie, Illinois in 1978, Kennedy said, “Most liberals in this country came down on the right side of that.” Although we may not like the ideas they espouse, he strongly feels that “we need to fight for these groups to be able to express themselves. We need to win our issues in the marketplace, on debate and ideas, and not by silencing people.”

“Especially when it comes to medical issues, censorship has no place. Authoritarianism has no place.”

Those remarks were delivered in early March when the Biden Administration was only two months old. It was still possible for some to dismiss Kennedy’s words as hyperbole. Today, nearly one year in, the Democrats’ assault on our Constitution is unmistakable.

Kennedy has lost friends over the past couple of years because he’s chosen to speak out against the “encroaching tyranny” that threatens to engulf our once (relatively) free society.

On Sunday, Kennedy delivered a New Year’s message that every American needs to hear.

He said:

I’m going to tell you these three things that you need to remember in this critical day and age.

1.  Once government acquires a power, it never lets it go voluntarily.

2.  Every power that government acquires, using this pandemic as a pretense, it will ultimately abuse to the maximum effect possible. This is a just a rule that is as certain as gravity.

3.  Nobody has ever complied their way out of totalitarianism. Every time you comply, the demands will get greater and greater.

We need to resolve here and now this is the hill we need to die on. They have come for our jobs, they have come for our transport, now they’re coming for our children. We have an obligation as parents to protect them. There has been a government in history that has told its people, we are going to demand children sacrifice themselves and take risks to save old people. It’s always the other way around. The old, the mature, the adults, always put themselves at risk to protect their children. This is an ethical issue. It’s a moral issue. It’s an issue of character for each of us. And it’s an issue about the preservation of democracy and public health.

Once again, Kennedy is spot on.

A couple of months ago, I argued in a post that the US has become closer to a dictatorship than a democratic republic

The Democrats have become drunk on power and their tentacles are reaching into every aspect of our lives. This administration has become a modern-day version of the pigs in Orwell’s Animal Farm.

The entire administration has gone rogue. They’ve thrown out all the rules and shredded the Constitution. Those who have been charged with upholding the law are recklessly flouting it.

The victories of Glenn Youngkin and other Republicans in blue districts throughout the country in November were an indication that the American people are starting to wake up.

But there is so much more work to do. We must resist. We can and must engage in civil disobedience. Because the future of America depends on it.
