Homeschooling has been proven successful for several decades now. It has launched successful adults into the world – adults who aren’t “socially awkward” and who meet or exceed the academic knowledge of their public school peers. There is no real question about the competency of homeschooling. It almost always equals or exceeds public school education.
Homeschool kids tend to be closer to their parents and family plays a larger part in their lives. This, in and of itself, makes the Left hate it. There is a growing theory by liberal academia that the institution of family itself should be abolished. (I have linked to conservative sites for these links to keep the crazies from getting clicks from us; but if you are interested, there are more recent articles calling for the abolition of the family if you just search for it.) Obviously, if family were abolished there would no longer be a way to pass on values or knowledge apart from what the State wanted a child to know – a truly terrifying thought.
Additionally, homeschooling has demonstrated an ability to raise kids who are able to withstand the liberal propaganda that is plaguing our public schools and even many private schools. One study found that, “Statistically, homeschooled young adults were six times as likely to be believers and seven times as likely to be stronger in their Christian beliefs as Millennials attending private schools.” This study shows that the beliefs and values of the parents are best passed on to their children through homeschooling. That makes homeschooling an important piece, if not the most important piece, to ensuring our future Republic. It is through the time and focus of educating your children, and of denying the Left easy access to their minds, that is your best bet to protect them from the snare of Liberal ideology.
And the Left knows this. This is why they are positioning themselves to begin restricting homeschooling.
Obviously, the education system has been a significant point of attack for the Left for a while now and they cannot allow a growing segment of the population to opt out of their indoctrination centers. And we cannot afford to cede our children to our ideological enemies.
Homeschooling is one of the very few places in our society where Conservatives and Christians actually hold the reins of power but that is already changing. As more people choose to homeschool who are not Conservative or Christian, especially those responding to the schools’ Covid response fiasco, there will be a power struggle over the curriculum and co-ops that teach anything contrary to the Left’s doctrine.
Our homeschool families, organizations and laws need a strong support system. We need people, even people who don’t personally homeschool their children, to stand in the gap for us as we come under inevitable attack by the Left. It is imperative that homeschooling remain legal and free in the United States of America.
