The Road From Hell

“Hell is full of good meanings, but heaven is full of good works.” – Origin unknown

some time back, I teased a couple of topics:  (1) how the enemies of America have managed to take over much of our government and media organizations, and (2) how to utilize our 21st-Century Information Technology more effectively than those enemies, to win the psyop-based war in which we now find ourselves for survival of the American discourse.  My colleague here at AFNN, Colonel John Tobin, in his recent article The Long Road Home, Part II, has crafted a good working list that largely answers (1), so for now I’ll shift over to a more profound look at (2).

So what does “more effective” use of Information Technology mean?  On the surface it may sound like I’m about to give a TED-like talk about all of the sophisticated means by which sites like this one could bypass the likes of CNN, MSNBC, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, et. al., and many in our governments at all levels, both unelected and elected, who seek to control the dialogue about what America is, has been, and needs to be. And while there is a need for superior technology in the tactical sense, I believe our strategic focus needs to be on something much more fundamental:  superior messaging.  Our ability to more effectively and pragmatically explain the virtues of America to others who may not be solidly in our camp is as important as, if not more so than, better technology.  We must find new ways to combat the lies and fallacies now being spun by our anti-American propagandistic enemies, and which resonate with those who aren’t solidly in either ideological camp.

The good news here is, while the anti-Americans now monopolize the majority of the digital conduits through which these narratives are being propagated, their messages are baseless and weak.  And they know this, which is why they must ignore and/or censor all information, and sources thereof, which can refute, dilute or diffuse their claims that America is a highly-flawed, and in some cases, illegitimate, nation.  That said, they are also masters of illusion, and have learned how to significantly blur, if not completely erase, the line between fantasy and reality for many who have either lost or never had the ability to think critically and have bestowed blind and misplaced trust to experience the world vicariously through those masters.

So we have the ultimate high ground here, and that more effective messaging starts with US—those who firmly believe in the American vision, and AS ORIGINALLY FOUNDED.  Though we may not be constitutional scholars, or particularly well versed in “the law,” we know that a key facet of the role of government under our Constitution is to “secure the blessings of liberty, to ourselves and our posterity,” not to lock us down, send us stimulus checks, and pass $30+ Trillion in debt to that posterity.  We’ve managed to grasp and embrace enough of the founding principles to embody these in our everyday lives, despite what was already an education system in decline when we were growing up.

Where we seem to be struggling is coherently and compellingly explaining, to people other than ourselves, WHY these founding principles were crafted as such, and why they should care.  While we likely have an above-average appreciation for just how knowledgeable our Founders were in the history of human civilization and society, up to now we have been relying on others to embody that knowledge and implicitly safeguard these core tenets using their positions of power, be that as President, Representative, Senator, or Supreme Court Justice.

Rather, we are the ones who need to embody the knowledge of our Founders, to be as solidly grounded in these narratives as we can be, so that we may restore, preserve AND evangelize the American vision.

And with a religious-like fervor!  Not to suggest that outright worship of our Founders and their legacy is in order, but rather to re-establish and reinforce that, through faith, these people won their independence against seemingly insurmountable odds, and established a nation which enabled over half of our mortal world to reach a pinnacle of civil and technological advancement not previously achieved.  And though our Founders were every bit as fallen as we, they still managed to craft those remarkable framework documents known as the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution.

Strong faith in a Creator above ourselves is another key ingredient.  I admit my faith has wavered at times over the course of my own life, but I now know that America cannot succeed without this, and the humility that comes with it, being central to any philosophy of self-government.  “Our Constitution is designed only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for any other.” – John Adams

We know what we believe, and I believe most if not all of us would be willing to fight or die for it.  We must also be crystal-clear on why we believe it.  We the People are the ones who are now the last best hope to restoring the “shining city on a hill” envisioned by President Reagan.

A majority of world citizens need to truly get that America is not just a place, but a philosophy—a state of being—that is fundamental to who we are as humans and to maximizing our potential for civilization.  Some have rejected this, but many are simply ignorant of it.  We need to fully embody (in a practical as well as intellectual sense) the American discourse, so that we may share it with as many who have the capacity to hear and willingly follow it.  The proper technology will follow once we truly know what we want to say, and know how to speak it plainly (and act it seductively) with others.

But Jeff, you’re oversimplifying this!  Maybe I am, but we need to start somewhere if we’re going to lead and to preserve the greatest architecture of civilization in human history—for ourselves and our posterity.  We are losing that now, so merely doing more of what we have been is not enough.

I am personally embarking on a quest for refreshing myself on, and further deepening my knowledge of, why America fundamentally has been, and continues to be, our best path forward to life, liberty and happiness on this Earth.  There is to be no magic nor illusionism here, but only reliance on the plethora of empirical evidence to validate the superiority of the American approach.
