Greetings my fellow Americans!
Before I dive into this article, I’d like to briefly explain my intent with my regularly aforementioned salutation. It is directed at everyone (regardless of nationality) who has come to appreciate just how exceptional the original American approach to society and civilization, based on individual liberty and God-given rights, has been in the history of mankind.
Onto the topic at hand. Without delving into speculation on political motivations and timing, it is becoming clear that—at least for now—the purveyors of the “official” response to COVID-19 have begun backtracking from their insistence on mandating facemasks which do nothing to prevent this extremely small invader from entering the human body while inhibiting those bodies’ ability to rid themselves of otherwise harmful bacteria, and on pharmaceutical inventions which have otherwise been proven ineffective (if not also more harmful) in neutralizing the effects of this family of viruses. While we appear to have a relative lull in crises declarations and responses, I thought this would be a good time to reflect on what has been made apparent over the past two years and/or been further substantiated by the COVID-19 fiasco:
- Healthcare is a for-profit industry, not a public service. The global “health care” system is about making money, not keeping people healthy. While I do believe there are those on the ground and in the proverbial trenches of offices and hospitals where actual patients are being seen and treated who do care about the latter’s well-being, those who have taken responsibility for administrating and regulating the business of treating human illness, disease, etc., and manufacturing the products which are claimed to assist those on the front lines, do not. Further, insofar as they stand to benefit greatly as more and more people require the products and services which they sell, there is negative incentive for them to minimize the numbers of those who are in such need at any given time.
- Unelected government and corporate bureaucrats have way too much power. While surely not isolated to these industries, private Healthcare- and Information Technology-related companies have been especially exposed during this pandemic, as have the public National Institutes of Health and Allergies and Infectious Diseases (NIH and NIAID, respectively), and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). What has been particularly revealing is the collusion between these public and private entities in crafting and shaping propagandistic narratives to steer public opinion toward “solutions” which most benefit them financially and politically, as well as their ability to compel individuals and organizations in other industries to toe the lines of those narratives.
- Many are all too willing to seize power and control. While I’m willing to give the benefit of the doubt to those who initially reacted to the “15 days to flatten the curve” narrative which had been weaved around the models which predicted millions of deaths at the hands of COVID-19, there was both time, and already-mounting evidence to the contrary, in that initial two weeks for greater scrutiny and critical thinking about the motivations, and timing, of those predicting utter destruction of humanity while insisting upon unprecedented and counterintuitive tactics, such as quarantining the healthy.
While it was no particular secret that public health departments were established at virtually every level of civil organization, what was far less obvious before this pandemic was how readily these unelected bureaucrats, and the elected officials who appointed them, would fall lockstep like dominoes into being nothing more than extensions of their national brethren. Cunningly crafted as “guidelines” by the aforementioned national agencies (to avoid constitutional entanglements no doubt), most states and counties quickly turned these so-called recommendations into punishable mandates, often by exploiting vague or open-ended statutes which could be construed as giving governors and/or health department directors unlimited power to revoke or restrict rights heretofore established to be “endowed by our Creator.”
- Even Donald Trump is vulnerable to the treachery of Washington D.C. President Trump is one of those deserving of the initial benefit-of-the-doubt regarding the government’s response to COVID-19. That said, once “15 days to flatten the curve” became “30 days to slow the spread”, it was already becoming clear that Trump was not in control of this situation, nor was he aware of just how far “the swamp” was willing to go in thwarting not only the success of his presidency, but also of the United States. Within weeks of a failed impeachment trial this pandemic was declared, and no sooner had the “task force” been assembled under the presumed direction of VP Pence, with Anthony Fauci, Deborah Birx, et. al., providing daily briefings, than the announcement of “Operation Warp Speed” had been made. And while hindsight is always 20-20, I find it troubling that Trump not only appeared to be oblivious to the fact that the wheels of Operation Warp Speed were set in motion in 2017 (if not sooner), but also continues to advocate the worthiness of the shots being produced by those who have been colluding with Dr. Fauci (and his buddy Bill Gates) to bring these mRNA shots to mass market for years.
The public’s response to the government’s response to this pandemic is also worthy of reflection. I’ll go there in Part 2.
