Parody: A Political Weapon Part LIII

Previously, in Parody: A Political Weapon, Part LII, tribute was paid to the recently passed commenter R Martin, who listed among his achievements the great song parody spoofing the cloudy origins of the 43^rd president of the US. This week, the howitzer of song parody will have its fire adjusted onto those leftists who claim that conservatives are an insurgent threat to democracy, while calling for civil war if republicans are elected in November.

Lefty activist and self-proclaimed “D List celebrity” Kathy Griffin earned an “F” this week by threatening a civil war should voters choose republican candidates in the midterm elections in two months. Ms. Griffin seems to lack the historical knowledge that this is exactly the same message her fellow democrats put forth 162 years ago, when they feared a republican victory at that time would threaten their ability to control the lives of those needed to provide their base of power.

In addition to history class, the hexagenerian comedienne failed in this joke as well, as she was echoing the words shouted by Joe Biden at Constitution Hall in Philadelphia the previous Thursday while flanked by sentries in Marine Corps dress blues, where he denigrated those in the opposition party that seek to restore America’s greatness. The current occupant of the White House then tried to walk back his remarks, and later tried to suggest that he was merely pointing out that to question the validity of an opponent’s election is extreme (forgetting that his chief spokesperson was an election denier).

Prior to the election of Abraham Lincoln and the secession of southern states that led to the late unpleasantness that has come to be known as The Civil War, there was an attempt at an insurrection against the government of the United States. John Brown, an abolitionist and veteran of the guerilla warfare between pro and anti slavery believers in Kansas, raided the United States Armory at Harper’s Ferry, Virginia in an attempt to foment a slave rebellion or die as a martyr in the process. Brown too was flanked by US Marines, though these devil dogs subdued and captured him and turned him over to the custody of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Brown’s martyrdom wish was granted, as he was hung for treason against the state.

Some time after Union troops were called up to put down the secession, in their campsites rallying songs were recited to popular tunes that took note of the turn of events. One of these suggested that while John Brown’s body was mouldering in the grave, his spirit was marching on.

While there are few more familiar with the idea of the grave than soldiers, abolitionists nonetheless found the reference thereto more ghoulish than their polite company was willing to embrace, so one of their number, Julia Ward Howe, penned the words below as a poem that was thought to be more tasteful.

Mine eyes have seen the glory
Of the coming of the Lord;
He is trampling out the vintage
Where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He hath loosed the fateful lightning
Of His terrible swift sword;
His truth is marching on.

I have seen Him in the watchfires
Of a hundred circling camps
They have builded Him an altar
In the evening dews and damps;
I can read His righteous sentence
By the dim and flaring lamps;
His day is marching on.

He has sounded forth the trumpet
That shall never call retreat;
He is sifting out the hearts of men
Before His judgement seat;
Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him;
Be jubilant, my feet;
Our God is marching on.

In the beauty of the lilies
Christ was born across the sea,
With a glory in His bosom
That transfigures you and me;
As He died to make men holy,
Let us die to make men free;
While God is marching on.

It was published in Atlantic Monthly, and together with the existing tune came to be known as The Battle Hymn of the Republic. It has won a Grammy award and has been covered by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and others, including Lee Greenwood , and is featured in churches today (though often with less martial lyrics toning it down).

Biden has called for action against Trump and his supporters and the Hollywood has called for civil war in the event of republican victory in the midterm election, ostensibly in defense of “democracy”. Biden’s administration has weaponized the executive branch as tools against their political opponents. In light of this, I have once again borrowed the tune here and re-worked the lyrics to reflect the efforts of Biden and his leftist supporters in Hollywood and the press project onto their adversaries what they actually plan and are doing, surrounded by a bodyguard of lies.

 

My ears have heard the story
that they peddle on the news
Republicans semi-fascist
and Trump wants to kill the Jews
But the left is just projecting
and their actions are the clues
Their falsehoods marching on.

Story! Story! Narrative!
They’re gonna tell you how to live!
Story! Story! Narrative!
Their falsehoods marching on

We can see it in the substance
Of the leftist talking points
as they construct a narrative
the mainstream press anoints
so they can prop up Biden
and the flunkies he appoints;
Their lies go marching on.

Story! Story! Narrative!
Their agents leaking like a sieve!
Story! Story! Narrative!
Their falsehoods marching on

Biden sounded forth the warnings
as he posed between Marines
As he bathed himself in red light
spoke of insurrection scenes
but the next day out he clarified
his words aren’t what he means
His lies go marching on.

Story! Story! Narrative!
They lie with every word they give!
Story! Story! Narrative!
Their falsehoods marching on

In America the Founding Fathers
gave us the U S,
but the leftists and Joe Biden
they made it such a mess
America should not be great,
they want it something less;
Their hate goes marching on.

Story! Story! Narrative!
Their sins they won’t ask to forgive!
Story! Story! Narrative!
Their falsehoods marching on
