Who are the Fascists?

Last week I was listening to the token Leftist on The Five argue that calling Trump and DeSantis voters “semi-fascist” is equivalent to accusing Democrats of being “socialists,” implying that the “socialist” label is an unfair insult. This is not the case. It is objectively provable that many Democrats embrace socialist rhetoric and ideology. Those like Bernie Sanders and AOC opening admit it, while others are more circumspect. It is also objectively provable that the Left has historically been the fascists, not the right. We tend to consider fascism “right” and socialism “left.” These are not opposite ends of a political spectrum. Recall that the fascists in Italy and German, when the term first came into vogue, were those countries’ socialist parties, such as the National Socialist (Nazi) party. The Left continues to embrace fascism while projecting that fascism on their enemies. They are largely successful in convincing the sheeple who were indoctrinated in our failed schools and through our corrupted Fourth Estate that conservatives are fascists when the Left is employing the doctrine, language, and tactics of fascism. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it’s a duck.

The Psychology Dictionary defines the term Projection as:

A psychoanalytical theory, projection is the process whereby one subject believes they see attributes (both good and bad) in another. The theory views this tendency as a defense mechanism whereby unenviable or unpleasant traits, impulses or ideas are attributed to another. In this way, the projector is able to avoid the unpleasantness in themselves. However, the theory goes on to explain that in severe cases of projection, the condition of projection may degenerate into paranoid delusions to the point that the projector believes others are responsible for the projector’s problems and are secretly plotting against them. The projection basically allows a subject to ignore faults within themselves.

The Left calling Trump, MAGA Republicans, conservatives, concerned parents, and others “fascist” is an overt manifestation of projection, the pot calling the kettle black. As Ned Claybrook wrote, referring to the Left,

The folks pulling Biden’s strings reveal themselves in the charges they make against Trump and his supporters. They want to rule by dictatorship! They want to control industry! They want to use force to control their political enemies! They want to use racism and class warfare to justify their excesses and criminal behavior. Not only do they want to do it, they are doing it! They are the ones who want to control industry and mandate winners and losers in the economy. Biden is literally committed to destroying the fossil fuel industry, a commitment that is having dire consequences every day. 

Before the White House tries to redefine the term Fascism, as they have Recession and Gender, Dictionary.com defines Fascism in this way:

    1. (sometimes initial capital letter) a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism.
    2. (sometimes initial capital letter) the philosophy, principles, or methods of fascism.
    3. (initial capital letter) a political movement that employs the principles and methods of fascism, especially the one established by Mussolini in Italy 1922–43.

Biden admitted he didn’t have the authority to forgive student loans, but he did it anyway. He admitted he couldn’t mandate vaccines, but he did it anyway. He didn’t have the authority to destroy a whole industry unilaterally, but he did it anyway. He didn’t have the authority to cancel the Keystone XL Pipeline, but he did it anyway.

Does Biden sound like a dictator?

For completeness, Dicionary.com also defines Socialism in this way:

    1. a theory or system of social organization that advocates the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, capital, land, etc., by the community as a whole, usually through a centralized government.
    2. procedure or practice in accordance with this theory.
    3. (in Marxist theory) the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles.

When the Left picks one industry to destroy (the fossil fuel industry) and other industries to support (electric cars), they are inherently exercising socialist control over the means of production and distribution. When the left steals money from workers to pay off the debts of indolent intellectuals, that is a form of capital redistribution. Any “redistribution” of forcibly extracted tax dollars violates the 10th Amendment and is a form of socialism. We haven’t quite reached the stage of the politburo (Congress) seizing ownership of means of production and distribution, but we are creeping up on it.

The Tactics of Fascism: Division, Censorship, Threats, Intimidation, and Violence:

Fascism is “a political movement that employs the principles and methods of fascism, especially the one established by Mussolini in Italy 1922–43,” which includes division, censorship, threats, intimidation, and violence.

Division and Biden’s Speech:

Comparisons to Germany in the 1930s are overused and overwrought; however, Biden’s Philadelphia diatribe, with Marines in the background and the red coloring, did feel like Nuremberg rallies. During this speech, Biden referred to MAGA Republicans as “semi-fascist,” whatever that means.

As reported by RedState,

Lines were crossed that can’t be uncrossed, from the use of the military as props in a blatantly political speech to Biden suggesting that nearly half the country is a “danger” to the republic. This was a speech that went far beyond anything seen in the modern era of presidential addresses…. He kept repeating the term “MAGA,” painting those who voted for Donald Trump as evil fascists that pose a direct threat to the very well-being of the nation. That’s ludicrous, and as I’ve shared before, it’s also incredibly dangerous. When you begin attacking tens of millions of Americans as scum, suggesting they are going to destroy “our democracy,” that justifies just about anything in response, doesn’t it? Someone is going to get hurt based on his incitement. [My emphasis added]

He backtracked on 2 September, saying “I don’t consider any Trump supporter a threat to the country.”

The Left does not attempt to hide their contempt for the unwashed. They are better than us, and therefore, they can justify any actions, encroachment of rights, and redistribution, because they know better how to run our lives than we do. (Let’s ignore that those rights and that culture they despise so much made us the greatest, most prosperous country in the history of mankind.) Saint Obama said that middle America is clinging to our Bibles and guns – implying that was bad. Hillary called us all a “basket of deplorables.”

Biden now is calling us enemies of “our democracy.” When the Left talks about “our democracy,” the term “our” refers to the holier-than-thou, entitled, elitist, above-the-law, ruling class, not most Americans who obey the law, pay our taxes, and want to be left alone. We live in a fascist society that serves them; they are not there to serve and represent us.

The speech was so vile and angry that The Barbed Wire satire site published an article about how to spot a MAGA Republican here. While poignant, it is funny.

Many have suggested that the purpose of this speech was as much to provoke a violent response from the Right as it was to inflame Biden’s dwindling base. They may be correct in that assessment. This is a tactic right from the fascist playbook. Divide. Vilify. When the evil ones protest, crack down on them with violence, censorship, and intimidation.

Other Examples of Division:

The Left uses everything to divide us to suppress later those deemed second class: race, gun ownership, abortion, climate, and religion.

The Left is objectively racist. See here and here. Yet the apostles of the woke religion and the lies of CRT continue to ascribe everything to race. In their arguments about being anti-racist, they expose their own racism – without being called to task by an equally woke and racist media. It is racist to require voter ID because minorities cannot get an ID to vote, but they can get one to buy alcohol, drive, or receive medical treatment. The Left’s logic is so dizzying that it begs the question: do they believe the claptrap they spew, or are they using divisive language to destroy our society? I think mostly the latter.

Similarly, the Left uses the zeal of the LGBTQ+ community to pretend there are more than two genders and to force their delusions on the rest of us. Whether they are overtly pushing their lifestyle choices in your face, grooming children, indoctrinating children, or pushing pornography to sexualize young children, the tactic of the fascist Left is to divide us – like making Jews wear stars of David. And to further prove their fascism, when parents object to these behaviors and acts, the parents are labeled by the government as domestic terrorists. This designation paves the way for the erosion of rights and persecution by an increasingly overreaching and tyrannical federal government.

The recent cavalier transfer of student loan debt from the debtors to other taxpayers, many of whom did not go to college or pay off their debts, was another attempt to divide the population and pander to a dwindling support base. This created resentment among the fiscally responsible “deplorables” in a transparent attempt to buy votes from those who cannot or will not pay their student loans. In one sweep of the pen, Biden created another class of “haves” and “have nots.”

The climate alarmists provide another example of how the Left seeks to divide us. Patrick Moore, a founder of Greenpeace, recently asserted that “the environmental apocalypse theory is mostly about “political power and control,” adding that he is dedicated to showing people that the situation is not as negative as they are told.” He further asserted,

Their campaigns against fossil fuels, nuclear energyCO2plastic, etc., are misguided and designed to make people think the world will come to an end unless we cripple our civilization and destroy our economy. They are now a negative influence on the future of both the environment and human civilization.”

“Today, the left has adopted many policies that would be very destructive to civilization as they are not technically achievable. Only look at the looming energy crisis in Europe and the UK, which Putin is taking advantage of. But it is of their own making in refusing to develop their own natural gas resources, opposing nuclear energy, and adopting an impossible position on fossil fuels in general,” Moore wrote.

Climate alarmism is a clear effort to divide us between the virtuous and the deplorable.

Censorship:

The Left has been engaging in censorship and cancel culture for many years. Not surprisingly, but disappointingly, the government was exposed recently for engaging in censorship, despite First Amendment guarantees. The Epoch Times cited court records showing that over fifty Biden administration officials, including many in the White House, engaged with Social Media companies to censor what they considered mis-, dis-, or mal-information. In part, Epoch times reported that

“If there was ever any doubt the federal government was behind censorship of Americans who dared to dissent from official Covid messaging, that doubt has been erased,” Jenin Younes, a lawyer with the New Civil Liberties Alliance who is representing some of the plaintiffs in the case, said in a statement. “The shocking extent of the government’s involvement in silencing Americans, through coercing social-media companies, has now been revealed.”

Almost humorously, if it wasn’t so disappointing,

Government lawyers only identified 45 officials at five agencies—the Department of Homeland Security, CISA, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC), the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and Murthy’s office—who communicated with social media companies on misinformation, although documents they produced showed others were involved, including officials at the Census Bureau and the Departments of Treasury and State.

Only 45 officials at five agencies! I guess that makes it okay. Sigh.

American Military News provides some examples of this collusion by the Biden administration to censor Americans:

  • “The CDC sent an email to Facebook proposing ‘a monthly pre-debunking meeting … to help them censor free speech.’” [my emphasis added]
  • “Meta, for example, has disclosed that at least 32 federal officials—including senior officials at the FDA, the U.S. Election Assistance Commission, and the White House—have communicated with Meta about content moderation on its platforms.”
  • “Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg story ahead of the 2020 election. According to a Media Research Center poll conducted in the immediate aftermath of the 2020 election, 16 percent of Biden voters said they would not have voted for Biden if they had known about the FBI’s investigation into the Biden family – meaning the public’s awareness of the Hunter Biden laptop scandal would likely have changed the outcome of the election.”

The Daily Caller reported that,

Officials within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) sent emails to employees at Facebook and Twitter to flag instances of alleged misinformation and provide talking points to counter allegedly false narratives spreading on the platforms. Government officials would occasionally initiate this activity, with one message from a CDC official requesting monthly meetings with Facebook to plan “debunking” strategies, and a White House official requesting the removal of a parody Anthony Fauci account.

To further censor dissenting thought, the Biden junta thought it was a good idea to establish a Misinformation Governance Board under the Department of Homeland Security. This government censorship organization was headed by Nina Jankowicz, whose record as a “fact checker” shows that her relationship with truth and facts is, at best tenuous. Immediately dubbed the Ministry of Truth, popular and Congressional uproar killed this fascist idea.

I am not a huge fan of President Trump, but when the Left, the media, Democrats, BLM, Antifa, and those shrews on The View accuse him of being a fascist, it is almost laughable. While he called out the fake news enterprise, he never made any move to censor free speech or shut down the media. He didn’t engage with woke billionaires at social media companies to erode the First Amendment. He argued. He berated. He criticized. He did not employ the censorship of despots, tyrants, or fascists to shut down free speech. When you employ the censorship of fascists, who are the fascists?

Threats, Intimidation, and Violence:

Threats, intimidation, and violence are tactics used by fascists to get their way. The misnamed Antifa and BLM committed arson, murder, rape, arson, and burglary in the summer of 2020. They did so with the tacit approval of the media, social media, Democrats, and the Left (but I am being redundant). The threat of additional violence caused police departments to bring on additional officers when the verdicts of high-profile cases were expected. Does anyone think that the threat of violence against themselves, their families, and their property did not weigh on jurors in these cases? For fascists, mob rule is how “our democracy” works.

Democrat Congresswoman Maxine Waters famously called for attacks on the Trump administration in Las Angeles when she said, “If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.

Contrast that with Trump’s tweet on 6 January: “Please support our Capitol Police and Law Enforcement. They are truly on the side of our Country. Stay peaceful!”

When the Dobbs pre-decision was leaked, the fascist intimidation began. Protestors gathered illegally in front of the homes of Supreme Court justices. Yet, it took weeks for Congress to authorize additional protections and for local authorities in Leftist Maryland and Virginia to enforce the laws against intimidating judges. Chuck Schumer stood on the steps of the Supreme Court and ranted: “I want to tell you, Gorsuch, I want to tell you, Kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price. You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.” See the video here. That was a threat meant to intimidate the named justices.

Most recently, Kathy Griffin, who previously posed with a depiction of President Trump’s severed head, threatened those who might vote for Republicans in the upcoming midterm elections. She tweeted, “If you don’t want Civil War, vote for Democrats in November. If you do want Civil War, vote Republican.” Is there a more evident threat of violence?

Along with threatening violence against conservatives, Democrats have demonstrated encouragement and tolerance of violence in our cities. Democrat mayors and legislatures, anti-police rhetoric, defunding the police, and criminal-coddling prosecutors have turned our cities into combat zones filled with crime, violence, rampant homelessness, and intolerable filth.

Who are the fascists?

The Left, the Democrats, the tech tyrants, Antifa, BLM, and the CRT race baiters are the fascists, not MAGA Republicans. They employ the tactics of fascists to achieve their aims.  If you believe in censorship, violence, intimidation, division, and threats to achieve your aims and suppress opposition, you are a fascist.  The Left are the fascists; in many cases, they are also socialists or exploit socialist ideas to further their fascist aims. As I have previously argued, Conservatives are the liberals in the classical, Jeffersonian sense. The Left is enjoying great success destroy America through fascist techniques, but I also blame Republicans who go along to get along, stand for nothing, and don’t have a message except “those guys suck.”  They have abrogated their responsibility to stand up to the encroachment of fascism by the Left.

In Season 4 of The Rockford Files, in an episode entitled “Quickie Nirvana”, James Garner mouthed some dialogue that touched on the left’s misuse of the “fascist” label, in this dialogue Jane Patten aka Sky Aquarian, an ex-hippie semi-vegetarian cultist being chased by killers for whom he has just bought a hamburger.

    Jane Patten: You’re an unusual blend, Jim. You know, you’re sweet, kind of losing it, kind of fascist.
    Jim Rockford: You know, I’ve just about had it with you.
    Jane Patten: [Speaking in an innocent voice] What’s the matter?
    Jim Rockford: I’m tired of your philosophizing, and moralizing, and whining.
    Jane Patten: [Surprised] ‘Whining’?
    Jim Rockford: [Angrily] Yeah, you want to give me a sermon about the hamburger, and you’ve got gall enough to eat it.
    Jane Patten: Ordinarily, I wouldn’t touch meat, but I am hungry, And even the Bhagavad-Gita says…
    Jim Rockford: [Brushing her droning off] Oh, just stow it, okay? You know, if it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be in this mess in the first place> Your flaky attitude, you-and-me problems, at every turn, you can’t remember anything. Now, I’m buying your meals. What can you do, lady?
    Jane Patten: My consciousness doesn’t lend itself to problem-solving, like your does, okay? I’m into an alternative lifestyle.
    [Jim smugly grimaces, then looks away from Sky]
    Jane Patten: I am a seeker after truth. What’s so wrong with that?
    Jim Rockford: Your ‘alternative lifestyle’ comes out of somebody else’s pocket. You mooch, you borrow, you hardly work. Anybody who doesn’t go along with it, they’re ‘fascists’, they’re ‘unmellow’, ‘competitive’. All that money and freedom is just another way of saying ‘me first’.
    Jane Patten: [Looking down] It is not.
    Jim Rockford: Yes, it is. You just don’t have a sense of responsibility. That’s all there is to it.
    Jane Patten: [Smug and defiant] What you mean is I’m not into structured living, or accumulated things. I’m into my consciousness.
    Jim Rockford: ‘Consciousness’? You’re practically UN-conscious 24 hours a day! What you’re ‘into’ is having somebody else to do your thinking for you. There’s Gordon Borchers, Baba, the Bhagada-Gita. Next it’s gonna be Sam Levinson, or Francis, the Talking Mule, for all I know. They have all the answers, right? Don’t you have any answers of your own?
    Jane Patten: Those are pathways to bliss.
    Jim Rockford: MM-hmm, maybe. But you don’t practice them. You just talk about them. You fled from ashram to water tank and back. Are you any happier for it, huh? And look around you; you see a lot of ‘bliss’ out there?
    Jane Patten: I’ve don’t think I’ve done so bad for being 32 years old.
    Jim Rockford: You’re 40. I’ve seen your drivers license.
    Jane Patten: I was 40, but I’m making positive affirmations. I am 32. I’m ‘youthing’ myself
    [Smugly smiles]
    Jim Rockford: You’re 40.
    Jane Patten: But I don’t want to get old.
    Jim Rockford: Well neither do I
    Jane Patten: Oh, but, you see, we don’t have to, not if…
    Jim Rockford: There’s nothing you can do about it. That’s the way it is. I’m sorry to be the bearer of the bad news. There is no easy answer, you know. There is no ‘quickie nirvana’. You don’t like it? Tough! Join the club.
