Secession is Occurring: Part 3: Breakdown of Law and Order and Weaponizing Once-Trusted Institutions

In Part 1 of this multi-part article, I asserted that we are becoming two distinctly different Dis-United States. One is an America based on our Constitution, institutions, law and order, freedoms, common view of civics, commonly interpreted history, and common culture. The other is an America transformed into a Leftist, woke, Marxist repressive regime in which all our institutions must be destroyed to rehabilitate an inherently evil nation. In Part 1, I discussed redrawing boundaries, Blue-state refugees, and efforts by the Biden administration to increase disunity and drive a wedge between Blue and Red America. In Part 2, I discussed manifest clashes of ideology and how the Leftists in power exploit crises to oppress the people.

We can’t even pretend to be a united set of states anymore. Just last week, those of us in Florida experienced Hurricane Ian. Before the storm even hit the coast, devastating lives, and property, Leftists like Senator Klobuchar (D-MN) politicized the hurricane. Even during a natural disaster, the Left couldn’t act like we were a single united nation. The Democrats’ propaganda arm identifying itself as journalists, jumped on the politicization bandwagon, criticizing evacuation orders and lying about Governor DeSantis.

Victor Davis Hanson wrote in his article Incompetence + Arrogance = Woke (I recommend you read the full article because he includes some beautiful examples) that…

In the last 18 months, we have seen most of our major institutions go woke and spend considerable amounts of time, capital, and labor on what might be called “commissarism.” Yet in their zeal to rectify society in general and sermonize, virtue signal, pontificate, and perform to the public, many institutions are increasingly failing at what they were established to do.

Of course, public servants have long suffered the “Bloomberg effect”—focusing on misdemeanors to virtue signal competence as penance for failing to solve the existential crises. If you cannot clear New York City of snow in a timely manner, then lecture the trapped on everything from global warming to the dangers of super-sized soft drinks. Yet wokeism is a bit different since it now pervades our societies as a pandemic of its own.

In this installment, I will discuss the breakdown of law and order in the Disunited States and the weaponizing of once-trusted institutions to oppress We the Sheeple, examples of the pandemic of “commissarism” that Davis describes.

Breakdown of Law and Order

Democrats have been trying to gaslight the American Sheeple into believing that Republicans are the ones trying to defund the police and that THEY are the ones who are tough on crime. A simple Internet search will find hundreds of examples of Democrats calling to defund various police organizations. In many instances, Democrat politicians marched with “mostly peaceful” protesters as they burned down buildings, raped, murdered, attacked federal property, destroyed personal property, looted, and destroyed businesses. Apparently, weeks of shelling a federal courthouse are not nearly as bad as a hundred people being permitted by Capitol Police to trespass in the Capitol for a couple of hours. Police know the truth about the Democrats; they are fleeing Blue cities in droves.

Democrats, including Harris, created bail funds to release Antifa and BLM thugs from jail. Attorneys General in many states have merely dropped all charges — even as Biden’s DOJ spends millions of dollars to collect data on 6 January “rioters” but not on Antifa or BLM rioters. In Minneapolis, a judge ordered the city to RE-fund its police to counter violent crime spikes. Minneapolis is controlled by Democrats, by the way. In Fredericksburg, VA, an attorney argued that a BLM protester should get a suspended sentence for smashing a car window and covering a toddler in shards of glass because it was “an emotional time.”

The Washington Examiner reported,

Anti-police attitudes and deep cuts to law enforcement budgets in cities run by left-wing governments have driven hundreds of officers from their jobs — and small towns are reaping the benefits. Beleaguered big-city officers around the country are being welcomed to rural forces, who are thrilled to have seasoned police and don’t share the contempt some urban leaders seem to have for the men and women in blue.

Smaller communities are benefitting from the woke pandering of Blue city mayors. Many of the cities that defunded their police are loath to admit that their spikes in violent crime are due to the defunding, gaslighting rationalizations like seasonal spikes, release from lockdowns (which those same Blue mayors and governors enacted), and other specious theories. Waves of police officers are retiring or moving from cities where the government doesn’t have their backs and where they are guilty of racism or police brutality, whether or not proven innocent. A police officer in one of those cities that defunded their police and subsequently tried to rehire those same defunded officers would be a special kind of foolish to go back into that environment.

Spike Lee ranted in Cannes that in the United States, “black people are being hunted down like animals.” Let’s put this Antifa and BLM lie to rest right now.

The data show that less than 50 unarmed black people are killed by police annually across the country despite the fact that police officers encounter the public more than three million times each year. [my emphasis added] There is no statistical basis for the claim that black people are being murdered with impunity by the police.

On the other hand, black people are murdered in droves by other black people, but that doesn’t fit Spike Lee’s false narrative. This anti-police, Leftist, intentionally divisive narrative is objectively wrong, yet many Sheeple think it is true because the Left and the media keep reporting the lie.

A survey produced by Skeptic.com reveals that people who identify as liberal or very liberal believe 1,000 or more unarmed black men were murdered by police in 2019. According to the Washington Post database [which admittedly collects data to show that police are murderers], that number was 12. [my emphasis added] The Mapping Police Violence database says the number was 27.  

In Los Angeles, Antifa criminals tried to disrupt a group protesting California forcing a spa to let transgender men into the locker rooms with women — who complained that they were uncomfortable with the situation. When the Antifa thugs got violent, chasing off a videographer, they were fought off by a man wielding heavy rosary beads. In a supreme irony, the Antifa gangsters had to call the police to get help.

Weaponizing Institutions and Eroding Trust in the Government

Trust in the government is low in the United States as citizens have seen unaccountable bureaucrats too often abuse their positions. Having lived in Maryland (three times), where many people make their living, directly or indirectly, as part of the government, I saw too many people who believe that the government bureaucracy knows how to run your life better than you do. That is never true. More importantly, a Trump legacy is that he exposed these federal agencies as the swamp they are.

When I retired from the Army, I worked for a year as a civilian at the NSA. One of the reasons I left was that I was no longer convinced they were the “good guys” because of the things I saw and the attitudes I experienced. We have seen the Obama administration weaponized the IRS against conservative non-profit groups. I will describe in a future article how the FBI is becoming more like the secret police than law enforcement. Weaponizing the FBI to conduct loyalty checks on National Guardsmen at Ft. Pelosi was shameful. The way the FBI and DOJ are going after the 6 January protesters but not prosecuting BLM and Antifa criminals is disgusting and clearly political. The well-documented use of the intelligence community to spy on the Trump campaign and his presidency is dangerous and makes Watergate seem like a college prank. There are numerous examples of the Biden administration using government institutions to punish political opponents.

I published a three-part series on the rampant wokeness destroying our military from within. (These were initially posted on AFNN’s old platform and are no longer visible, but I will try to update and repost them soon.) Since writing that article, the United States Air Force Academy made the news for foisting the lies of critical race theory on cadets. The American Thinker recently provided a very thoughtful piece on the erosion of moral character and military standards at the Air Force Academy. US Space Command relieved a commander because he dared to criticize Marxism. Space Command also sent its members videos that claimed that white people and the United States were evil, citing the lies of the 1619 Project and critical race theory. Do we want a military that thinks our nation is evil? The head of the new US Space Command argued that racism is his most significant threat to space, not Chinese or Russian aspirations. Recently the DoD released its strategic plan focused not on China, Russia, or Iran but on mitigating “the key effects of climate change.”

Horatius recently opined on The American Mind that,

There are only two institutions left for the left to conquer—institutions filled with the backward, white supremacist, irredeemable troglodytes that liberal arts undergraduates must be psychologically and emotionally strengthened to confront when they go home every year to trample on the formerly apolitical joys of Thanksgiving. I’m talking about the military and the police.

At first these would appear inauspicious targets to assault. Largely multi-ethnic, working class, high-school graduate, gun-toting uniform wearers aren’t ripe converts to sponsor a local drag queen story hour or host a Robin DiAngelo book club.

The only reason the police and the military are in the crosshairs is because the barbarians at the gate have already won everywhere else. They’ve reached the citadel. They’re on the last stop in their long march through the institutions.

Unlike the media, the education system, business, and the like, conservatives can’t merely toil away creating alternatives to the police or the military. If Starbucks is woke, brew your own coffee. The Army, on the other hand? Ora pro Nobis.

It may already be too late for the military, given that flag officers have become woke political hacks instead of warrior leaders.

Throughout the media hyped COVID plague panic, the CDC and Saint Fauci have proven to be political organizations, not the apolitical organizations Americans have expected them to be. Recently, under pressure from Premier Biden, the CDC changed its mask guidance — yet again. It turns out that this recommendation is based on a single study in India that was rejected for publication by Nature. Rejected. That means under peer review, the single report was deemed sufficiently flawed that publication was not warranted. I have been a reviewer for journals for years. Rejection, rather than acceptance with significant revisions, is rare.

Meanwhile, the FDA has fought against the use of certified drugs that have been in use for many years, such as hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin. There was a time when the CDC and FDA were seen as apolitical protectors of the people’s health, but now they are just more swamp creatures. The credibility of these organizations has been destroyed.

We see the Leftists in DC working to turn the military into an institution dedicated to corrupt ideologies instead of defending the Constitution. Are they preparing to use the military to repress the American people? Biden’s recent remarks about gun control indicated that you need nuclear weapons and fighter jets to overthrow the government (but somehow, a hundred unarmed people were a threat to overthrow the government, and the only person killed was one of the protesters, Ashley Babbit, shot by an undisclosed Capitol police officer).

Institutions that were once scrupulously apolitical have shown that they are infected with the same woke disease and led by swamp creatures. After the flip-flopping and illogical rhetoric of Saint Fauci and The Surgeon General, does anyone have any faith in the CDC or NIH anymore? The FBI and intelligence community have shown that they are Leftist organizations that think they know what the American people need — or else! Biden is even talking about giving the intelligence community access to citizens’ text messages. The FBI has become involved in lying to the FISA court, loyalty checks on soldiers, persecution of Trump supporters, and ignoring gangster groups like Antifa and BLM. While there is probably good work occurring in individual field offices, does anyone really trust the FBI anymore? Ask any of the victims of Whitey Bulger or the Waco massacre: the transformation of the FBI into the secret police has been going on for a while. The IRS targets conservative non-profit groups. The Department of Education is complicit in the political brainwashing of our kids and the erosion of educational outcomes in our indoctrination camps masquerading as schools. General officers have become political hacks instead of warrior leaders. The Left opposes rules that guarantee election integrity when the US has the 60^th most secure elections in the world. Can you name a department or organization within the federal government worthy of trust?

The most important indication of secession before our eyes is the unequal application of the law. Elitists are treated differently than deplorables. The woke are given a pass on felonies, while conservatives are persecuted for misdemeanors and non-criminal infractions. Violence by Leftists is on the rise, such as the woman shot in Michigan while canvassing for votes on an abortion referendum. FBI whistleblowers have been parading into Congressmen’s offices with stories about the politicization of the FBI, including the purge of conservatives from the bureau and lionizing of FBI agents to genuflect to BLM anarchists. Garland and Wray have done nothing about the surge of violence against pregnancy centers in the wake of the Dobbs decision. Still, they have conducted raids with dozens of heavily armed agents against pro-life activists like Mark Houck. The FBI stole documents in the unnecessary – and perhaps unlawful – raid on Mar a Lago, including the ex-President’s will. Supposedly this raid was to protect these classified documents in a locked room in a secure compound. Yet, it has been disclosed that similarly classified Obama documents are sitting unguarded in an abandoned warehouse in Maryland. The persecution of January 6^th trespassers, in at least one case leading to an unlawful raid on an uninvolved person in Alaska, has violated due process, speedy trial, and habeas corpus provisions of the Constitution; however, the really interesting issues about whether it was a false flag operation by the FBI or Democrats, who and where is Ray Epps, and how many FBI agitators were in the crowd (like the Governor Whitmer kidnapping conspiracy) have not been investigated. These instances show the politicization and weaponization of the Department of Injustice and the FBI (a.k.a., Secret Police) to persecute and intimidate conservatives and Biden’s political opponents. Meanwhile, we are permitting Chinese police to open police stations in our country! The Dis-United States has become a banana republic.

Again, we see two very different visions of America. The Leftist view is that they must pervert government institutions to guarantee control over the masses or destroy those institutions with spurious claims of institutional racism. Sometimes both. The Sheeple must be made ignorant and controllable by the educational propagandist junta. Keep the proletariat high on (recently legalized) drugs and ignorant; they are easy to control. Like in some Dirty Harry movies, for the Left, the Bill of Rights has become something to be circumvented to achieve their goals. The ends (Communism and subjugation of the proletariat) justify destroying the Constitution, tearing down our institutions, rewriting our history, brainwashing our kids, canceling opposing views, and persecuting dissenters. The Red vision of America is one in which the Constitution and Bill of Rights constrains the federal government. Government should be limited to those powers restricted by the Tenth Amendment.

Hyphens are Bad!

Apart from many people misusing them, hyphens are bad. I have said for years that hyphens emphasize differences instead of sameness. Mike Ford summed it up recently:

Teddy Roosevelt gave a speech to Knights of Columbus, which included,

“There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all. This is just as true of the man who puts “native” before the hyphen as of the man who puts German, Irish, English or French before the hyphen. Americanism is a matter of the spirit and of the soul. Our allegiance must be purely to the United States. We must unsparingly condemn any man who holds any other allegiance.”    

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being of Irish descent, German or Chinese, it does not matter, but once one takes the oath to this Nation, we are Americans regardless of our background.  We embrace the good and the bad, we attempt to expand the good and eliminate the bad, we are Americans; that is what we do.

Then it hit me, in today’s world, we have Italian-Americans, Japanese-Americans, French-Americans, Irish-Americans, African-Americans and many others.  This Nation has 142 hyphenated Nation-Americans groups, and because the 54 Nations of Africa have been defined as African-Americans, a Continent-American.  Once Asian-Americans were a Continent-American, but years ago, it was deemed inappropriate to say Asian-American.  But we still say African-American.  

Promoting hyphens and 43 genders is a culture-war tactic to decrease a common sense of Americanism in favor of tribalism. When someone identifies as an Italian-American, African-American, or <some other>-American, he is saying that he is not entirely — and only — American. He is somehow disjointed from other Americans. The Left uses hyphens to divide us. We are all Americans, and we need to eschew the use of hyphens to describe ourselves. The race baiters in Blue America exploit hyphens to create Biden’s vision of “unity” (which is division and disunity) verse the Red vision of real unity behind a single culture and identity.

In Red America, we have rights. In Blue America, we merely have authoritarian idealogues, the ruling class, that seek to impose their will on the proletariat. As Kurt Schlichter wrote on Townhall,

The bizarre contortions that the libs are going through to blame you for the virus because you selfishly refused to submit to their fussy commands illustrates, for the umpteenth time, an undeniable fact about these fascist-curious creeps. They hate hate hate the idea of rights, particularly yours. In fact, when they refer to rights, they often insist on encasing the word in quotation marks, as if it was some bizarre and alien concept those Jesus-gun-truck-cisnormative people from Iowabamaho invented under the influence of moonshine and the Holy Spirit.

Rights, they realize, are an intolerable obstacle to the things they want to do – especially when it’s inferiors like yourself asserting said rights. 

I highly recommend that you read this whole article. Schlichter goes on to say,

The state must have a compelling interest in whatever result it seeks to obtain from impinging on your rights. Compelling, not merely convenient, or even wise or smart. Otherwise, you have rights right up until they become inconvenient. Those are no rights at all.

We have a Red America that believes in the Constitution and the Bill of RIGHTS. The Government must have a compelling interest, meaning they must make the case that there is no alternative to impinging on rights before they can do so. The Government must also impinge as little as possible when doing so. Yet Blue Americans, living empty and pointless lives, make themselves feel some perverse self-worth by foisting their ideas on others, coercively if necessary. Celebrities, “activist athletes,” the Left, the woke, the racists, and the Democrats all have such hollow existences that their only joy is to impinge on your rights and destroy our trusted institutions. They virtue signal to feel good about themselves, and you should recognize, respect, and emulate that virtue or something is wrong with you. They get to feel superior to you if you don’t emulate their virtue signaling, which brings meaning to their lives. They are only happy if they are making someone else feel inferior.

While Joe Biden, the Great Disunifier, and his Marxist cabal attack the Constitution, they accuse Red Americans of being threats to democracy and enemies of the Constitution. Blue America hates America and craves disunity to grab and hold power. Red America loves America and desires unity to provide national strength. Every day, in almost every way, we see two countries emerge. We no longer have a common culture, common national anthem, common flag, a common interpretation of our history, common virtues, or common respect for our institutions. I have to dial “1” in my own country to converse in English — usually with a machine. We no longer even have a meaningful border. Without these common institutions, do we have a nation, except in name only? The racist “anti-racists,” fascist “anti-fascists,” woke Leftists are doing everything they can to ensure that Red and Blue America have nothing in common. We are becoming two disparate nations with two very different outlooks and cultures.
