It’s not often I get PO’ed, but the Brittney Griner release has me in that mode. But what really fires me up are those athletes who would kneel for the national anthem. To them I say, that’s your right, but for the sake of all of us who don’t support your childish behavior, please give your legs to someone who lost theirs doing what you wouldn’t. You my friends, live in the land of the free because of the brave as the VFW is wont to say.
Football, basketball, baseball are games. Games. IEDs, AAA, SAMs, rifle rounds are not. You may get hurt but you’ll have access to the finest medical care—immediately. Now, get hurt in isolated outposts far from clean water, friendly people, and sanitary conditions much less a hospital. And wait. And wait.
You know, I used to love being entertained by you. Used to love cheering for my teams. But when you started bowing to woke, I drew the line. I don’t know if you are still kneeling to China, to the anthem, to the flag, because I haven’t watched the NFL for 5 years. The NBA for the same. I seldom watched baseball because, unless I was playing, it was rather boring.
So now, instead of providing all-American entertainment, you are more interested in yourselves. Get over it. Get over what you know nothing about. You my friends, are children. Still playing the games you grew up with while dissing those who allow you to do it. It’s shameful. The owners, the coaches, the players, it’s not about you. Or your social causes of which you know little or nothing about. And I’m ashamed of you. Ashamed that I gave you my allegiance while you gave me and the country none of yours.
It’s interesting that the US reached out to bring an athlete home. An athlete who turned her back on the national anthem. An athlete who refused to depart the locker room while the anthem was played. But an athlete who begged to be saved when imprisoned in another country. Wow, Joe, what courage to bring a doper home and turn loose a Van Owen. So to the woke athletes, play your games. Wail and gnash your teeth. See who really cares. I, for one, don’t.
