For over 20 years I’ve despaired of finding the right name for the political opposition to Conservatives, the ideas of the American Revolution, and our 1787 Constitution as amended. Nothing fit. Much like the floundering the Bush Administration babbled about our enemies post 9-11 and in Iraq after we invaded – if you can’t name your enemy properly, it’s unlikely you can fight him successfully. The people on the Left whose ideas fit under Human Secularist Totalitarianism, need their proper name. One that will punch them in the guts.
Recently, I attended a presentation on how to beat the Left in elections. It was good stuff – clearly articulated lessons I’ve learned over 30 years of local politics. The lady from Loudon County, Virginia – the epicenter of the Momma Bears backlash against TransKrazy in public schools – showed how to not accept the Left’s narrative, reject it firmly, and speak clearly to the voters’ emotions to beat the Left. When she finished I asked her what a better name is for “them” other than the “Left.” She liked the question but didn’t have an answer.
For some time, I’ve written about Democrats/Liberals/Progressives/Greens/Socialists – Commies for short. Those are the labels they apply to themselves and which fit okay. But, they don’t brand with a stigma that stinks to most Americans.
From the 1960s to the 1990’s, “Liberal” earned itself a bad name. So, Democrats started calling themselves “Progressives.” It didn’t matter, because the Democrat label is all most Americans need to know about a candidate. Conservative and Moderate Democrats became extinct some time ago, although imposters proclaim they still exist. Despite they’re worst efforts, “Democrat” isn’t an anathema.
When I first started writing pieces after 9-11, I called them Puritan Liberals. That name captured their cultural home in New England and, consequently, the absolutist nature of their politics. It didn’t catch on.
The more I studied their ideas and their genealogy, I pegged them to the ideas of the French Revolution. That’s where the term “The Left” originated. How fitting, then, to properly label the Left as Human Secularist Totalitarians. It makes them kissing cousins to the Socialists, Communists, Fascists, and National Socialists. They all are branches evolved from the ideas of the French Revolution.
But, Human Secular Totalitarianism is a mouthful. Too many syllables. Words that are meaningless to almost all Americans.
My shorthand, Commies, fits as does Nazi, but Commies only strikes a nerve with Baby Boomers. And, the Left calls the Conservatives – “Nazis” – so much so, that batting the same word back and forth will be confusing, not convincing.
I’m a writer, so I made a list of possible labels. Nothing grabbed me. “Karens” is topical. Tyrants, Bigots, Traitors, etc. didn’t capture who they are – in a way that everyone will get it.
Then, I hit upon “Bullies.” Bullies are petty tyrants. Bullies are cowards. Bullies always overplay their hand. Often, Bullies are ignorant, arrogant, and condescending. The more connotations applied to Bullies the more the term fits America’s Democrats/Liberals/Progressives/Greens/Socialists/ Commies.
Except, the Left tries to own the word “Bullies” in their indoctrination of public school children. Thinking in their terms trivializes “Bullies.” So, we need use adjectives to set up the word “Bullies” to be a punch to the gut.
For example, they are Baby-Killing Bullies, CRT Race-Pimping Bullies, LGBTQ Gaystopo Bullies, Green Cult Bullies, Covid Creepy Bullies, etc. etc.
Be creative. Colorful. But, keep on the offensive. Call them Bullies to their face. No one likes Bullies. Nobody. Add the adjectives to describe their affront to common sense, crimes against humanity, bias against Christians and Jews, or enmity to the Constitution, etc. etc.
Remember that the Bullies use Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals to accuse of us what they are actually doing. So, when they accuse us of dividing the countries and casting political opponents as the less than human “other” – like the Nazis, Communists, Socialists, and Fascists to make it easier to murder them – that’s precisely what they are doing. Quite well, actually.
Conservatives are the “other” to the Bullies.
Christians know that the Bullies retain their humanity – no matter what. Yet, it should be perfectly clear that our political opponents are Human Secular Totalitarians. They are our relatives, lifelong friends, neighbors, co-workers – worthy of honest Christian love – philos, storge, and agape.
But, today’s bullies are tomorrow’s tyrants. Bullies with power become monsters. Look closely at what they propose. How much is un-Constitutional?
When does the impact of ignoring the Constitutional limits of government become so anti-Constitutional that the Bullies become Domestic Enemies of the Constitution?
Our political opponents are our enemies because they are true Bullies.
A rose is a rose by any other name. The Left are bad Bullies.
