Making the Majority; This year in Virginia, Conservatives have to make a majority using the Republican Party to win our General Assembly election. Next year, across America, Conservatives, Independents, and anyone with common sense have to overcome the cheat in the swing states to make the winning majority for Federal power.
Conservatives have to build a coalition of voters among the strange bedfellows of politics to win in Virginia and the crucial swing states. The building is more erector set mayhem than stacking stolid Lincoln logs – as boy Baby Boomers may recall.
The coalition of tribal identity politics that calls itself “Democrat” is glued together by their Secular Humanist Totalitarian worldview and ideology. They don’t hesitate to vote for a senile grifter, a brain-damaged fund chump, or even a dead legislator. They harvest their votes early and effectively. The candidate, issues, and campaign don’t figure in elections as they have traditionally.
Consequently, the expected Red Wave election of 2022 reduced to a ripple. The Dems’ early votes in the bank exceeded any gains made in the election cycle’s last laps. Republicans took back the House of Representatives by the skin of their teeth.
The new seats picked up, interestingly, are in the North. Yankee Republicans are making a comeback. Their return is based on the simple choice between common sense and crazy, pragmatic self-interest and societal suicide, inflation and price stability, jobs and unemployment, real racism and the White Supremacist boogey man, crime and safety, etc.
Since the 1960s, the Human Secularist Totalitarians’ Cultural Marxism captured the leadership of America’s institutions. Subsequently, the elites and the underclass dependent on government checks are pitted against the huge mass of Americans who work for wages, run small businesses, or are self-employed professionals – and who aren’t cultural captives from New England, the West Coast, or urban areas.
The pragmatic middle is at least 74 million voting Americans. They are a transformative majority with more potential than FDR’s 50 year governing coalition.
But, they have to win in the right places to wrest away political power.
As internal migration makes the Red states get more red and the Blue states get more blue, the swing states become more important. The swing voters in those states become the electoral majority maker.
Winning that 20k votes in Georgia, some thousands more in Nevada, Arizona, and significantly more in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, while not needing so much in New Hampshire is crucial. Seven states make it a clean win.
A big win holds a wobbly North Carolina and swings New Mexico, Virginia, Minnesota, and Colorado. The rest of the Union is predictably Red or Blue.
Likewise, in Virginia it’s winning 125 cities and counties by much more and losing by less in 8 cities and counties to sweep the Commonwealth.
All of which requires the skill of the Flying Wallendas, and much better luck, to walk the political tight rope to win.
The Establishment Republicans in their safe seats in the U.S. Congress and Virginia General Assembly serve themselves as career politicians. They give ponderous advice about avoiding Culture War issues even while they are ready and willing to compromise any principle in the heat of a political fight.
Yet, it’s precisely the calculation of votes gained and lost on hot button issues, like Culture War flashpoints, that will make the difference in 2023 and 2024.
In other words, will the suburban Moms and their obedient spouses who can’t stand Trump and have a gut check allegiance to abortion and sympathy for homosexuals actually vote for more parental control in schools, for better, safer schools, girls having their own sports and locker rooms, and less crime?
How will those issues be framed and championed? The votes can go either way.
Who is won over by any candidate being “Woke” whatsoever?
Can the R’s keep the bread and butter, utterly pragmatic economic issues of energy, taxes, manufacturing, nanny state regulation, and unfair trade policies in front of the middle class non-ideological Yankees? (All non-Southrons are known as Yankees to some of us)
Can the R tent be expanded to the legal immigrant communities? Can it not subtract culturally Conservative Southerners with unnecessary insults? Likewise, with the heavy base of Conservative Christians?
Practically speaking, the legal vote harvesting in swing states must be maximized. Collecting and winning the early vote is essential.
Finally, the big national coin toss is how the primary ends with or without Trump – and how the losers, either way, unite to win in November 2024. Of course, China may invade Taiwan or Russia may escalate to nuclear war along the way.
In Virginia, it’ll probably be about crime and schools in 2023.
Hope the majority makers make it happen. I’ll do my part.
