I’m deeply disturbed by the ongoing events in the Middle East, like many others. The brutality we’ve witnessed is hard to comprehend. As someone with frontline experience in the war on terror, I know how barbaric these adversaries can be. We need strong leadership during this time of crisis, but what we’re seeing is weakness.
We must take immediate action in response to this disaster:
First, bring home every American hostage. Work with the Israeli government to ensure their safe return and send a strong warning to Hamas and Tehran regarding the consequences of harming American hostages.
Second, condemn the violence unequivocally. There are no two sides to this conflict; we must denounce murder and evil without reservation.
Third, stand by Israel’s right to defend itself. We know the importance of support during times of attack and must reciprocate.
Fourth, reinstate the Trump-era maximum pressure policy on Iran. Cut off Iran’s funding of terrorist groups and prevent further financial support.
Fifth, protect the American people by understanding potential dangers and securing our borders.
Sixth, combat antisemitism wherever it arises, educate our children, and eliminate this hateful ideology.
We need strong leadership, which has been lacking since Joe Biden took office. His foreign policy
weaknesses have emboldened our adversaries and put many at risk. This contrasts with the “peace-through-strength” policy of the Trump administration, which took decisive actions against threats and solidified our commitment to Israel by moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem. The time for leadership and action is now, as Israel has already paid a high price.
