Cultural Lunacy in America and the Reduction to the Absurd: Congratulations to All, I think We’ve Made it Part 4

Dear Reader will be forgiven for observing that my articles are increasingly depressing and not upbeat. I offer a reason-but not an excuse-in that regard. Having been in the military and government civilian service for nearly four decades, my interests are predictable and oriented on keeping up with-and making sense of-government actions, standards, policy, decisions-the full range of things that affect our lives.

Scanning and digesting aggregation services these days is like a prescription for clinical depression. It strikes me there are three or four classes of articles filling my screen and email that I will go through in detail at some other time. The predominate news is political, comes out of the Swamp, and is like watching the movie One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest without the humor…

An example is an exchange from the least talented-but eminently qualified due to gender considerations-White House Spokesperson KJP. In response to being called out on the Wash Post three-Pinocchio, award winning, White House lie that “Republican’s voted to reduce the number of Border Patrol Agents,” she responded that “We don’t believe it’s a false claim.” Such an answer would be subjected to nuclear level ridicule if made by a Bad Orange Man spokesperson.

The problem lies with her boss(es) whose spin she is repeating. Now it is true-and I’ve quoted it many times-that her big boss stated publicly for all to hear that “You have your facts, but we have our truth,” which would explain such a response in the face of the WAPO award. Even Snopes acknowledges and gives her boss credit for fracturing a canned campaign bumper sticker, which was constructed for delivery as “we choose truth over lies.”

Now whether he botched the line once or a dozen times is mostly irrelevant to the point of why the administration seems unable to be honest with the American people. To quote from one of my favorite NFL coach interviews ever-that I’ve used before-“the Biden Administration is who we thought they were.”

My series on that potential for disaster-the potential globalist folly we could expect with a Biden Administration with the Junior Varsity Obama staffers elevated to the varsity team stretches to some 30 plus articles. I haven’t added one in a long time because it came to be like picking on the handicapped.

Whether its DHS Secretary Mayorkas jousting with congress over our “secure border,” FBI Director Wray unable to answer-well-anything, nominees incapable of or unwilling to answer basic questions about their nominated positions that they are presumably subject matter experts on, or even ice breaker questions about males and females, the Biden Administration keeps the aggregation services busy-and it has not disappointed!

The news of late represents a real puzzlement from the standpoint of what has come out in 2024 as if somebody gave the OK to start releasing “tales from the vault or more appropriately the crypt” in the horror or creep show tradition.

Nothing has been quite as odd as the disappearance of Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin for nearly 5 days in the midst of what can only be described as at least a four-front crisis-flare up-but you call it, comprising Ukraine, Gaza, the Red Sea Coalition effort and closing on the defense budget with the percolating/boiling over border security-Ukraine-Israel funding issues.

Forget that Austin was waivered into position by congress as the most talented, unique skills person available. The only person with the skill-set fit to do the job: worth compromising the civilian control over the military tenet built into our constitution and government framework.

Also forget that with over four decades of military service-a West Point graduate, who basically answers to one person in our government-the President- he seemingly whiffed or blew off his responsibility to notify his boss that he was being hospitalized and would be out of pocket-and-OBTW, should it be needed-Dep SECDEF umptysquats is in charge.

Mind boggling incompetence that he should be fired over-regardless of the reason. Austin has to be on borrowed time-I’ve been writing articles for several years that he and sidekick GEN Milley should have been fired because they lacked the ethics, morals, integrity and standards to resign for the good of the country.

But, but, but, nothing happened while he was out of pocket. Well look at what has happened when he was “in-pocket.” Afghanistan retreat and abandonment of Americans, allies, and some very large portion of >80Billion worth of American equipment that had been funneled into Afghanistan over the years. The Afghan govt fell in ~13 days after glowing reports by Austin and Milley to congress of the effectiveness of our military train up of some reported 300K Afghan govt security forces: phfft, gone like a puff of smoke with our reputation in the region.

Walking away from a multi-billion-dollar fortress represented by Bagram AFB that we literally abandoned in the night. Anyone wonder if any allies might have enjoyed the use of the facility-French, British, Germans….? And-yes-POTUS made the decision.

Have you ever disagreed with a decision strongly enough that you could not live with it? You acknowledge the boss, give your best recommendation, salute the decision and say goodbye: bye-bye. Sounds easy to do-but there is nothing easy about it. You owe it to your boss to give them your best unvarnished opinion and recommendation-and if you feel strongly enough about it that you would bad mouth a wrong decision-you say your piece-carry the message to Garcia-salute and move on.

How about Ukraine? Austin and Milley’s assessment to congress was that Ukraine could fall within 72 hours. Heading into the third year of this operation, with an US commitment of dollars and equipment projected out to nearly half a trillion dollars, hindsight indicates that our military and intelligence elements are not very good at these strategic big boy and girl muscle movements.

There is a far worse legacy-if that is possible-that Austin is building for the department he leads that is already tainted by these two episodes that will go down in infamy in American history, along with his previous bollix of the re-establishment of the ISIS Caliphate on his watch while he was CINCCENT (Commander-In-Chief Central Command-and yes-I know-there is only one CINC anymore, but I also served at Fort Bragg, Fort Hood, and Fort Polk.)

But the legacy he is carving out for himself and his institution-that he will be remembered for-assuming that something happens to enable the righting of the ship before a true tragedy occurs so we can remember it-is the breakdown of the readiness and combat effectiveness of the United States military-especially the Army under his watch.

You have to go back to the post-Vietnam days of the 1970s as the all-volunteer “force” Army stood up to find an institution looming on the brink of failure as is todays military. Most articles cite 1973 as the peak problematic time of the recruitment challenge, when congress was about to sunset the GI Bill, the ranks were replete with draftees and Vietnam Vets that had difficulty transitioning to peacetime service in America.

This article tells the tale of the crop seeded by Austin when he became SECDEF and led the minions under him to “focus on and root out those extremists in the ranks” that he and his racist hand-picked staff apparently truly believed-with no evidence whatsoever-numbered ~10% of the force: a huge number. From the piece:

A 43% Drop in White Recruits Caused the Army’s ‘Recruitment Crisis’

The real military recruitment crisis is DEI discrimination against white people.

The hand wringing of the last several years has not shed light on nor disclosed a remedy or fix to the problem.

This article discusses the true impediments to the recruiting problems in terms of eligibility, suitability and remnants or lingering effects from COVID. But as the headline above reflects, lets say that you are an USAF recruiter and the guidance you have is that while 83% of current pilots are white, the effort is to reduce that by nearly half and go into the more diverse areas of the country and build the force from those constituencies for the future that envisions a much more balanced force.

That sounds like a really wonderful idea at the micro level, but on the ground in areas like Baltimore, Detroit, Chicago, etc., places where students performing at grade level are few and far between-good luck coming up with numbers that will answer the mail.

One of the problems that nobody wants to talk about is the so-called “renaming commission” that has absolutely targeted one of the most solid and counted upon base for military service in our country’s history, the south. I’ve seen a lot of very good and smart arguments that discount the legacy-not finding quite the allegiance-of subsequent generations in the south to affiliate with the history of service that traces to the Confederacy, but the legacy that counts happened in the 20th and now the 21st century-and those military from the south who served over this time who are simply not recommending service for their sons and daughters.

In the scheme of things-the problem is some of the above but is more the apathy of or the fact that this is a demographic that is not being aggressively recruited-to the detriment of the military. And it has been recognized because we’ve recently seen commercials that have re-introduced a breed that has been noticeably absent in recent years: white soldiers.

Recruitment is about numbers and marketing. If I want to gather animals in the field, number one is you have to go where they are and number two is you don’t do that with a rope and a whip-you do it with grain.

Before you even start you are in a losing argument if you support expunging war heroes or founding fathers from the public square.

This article talks about a decline of 50% in the white demographic in the military in recent years. It also talks about an Army Official blaming republicans or conservatives for calling out the military as “woke.” But the quotas, propaganda, recruiting literature, marketing is all on the Army and the bottom-line is that most of the military that I served with have not, did not, and will not encourage family members to join the military.

We could go through this on, and on, and on, but whether the “woke, diversity, CRT, DIE, conscious racism and letter people” issues truly weigh against recruiting or not, it is clear that Austin and his team caused this, and has no idea how to turn this around and it is time for fresh ideas and new blood: starting with Austin.

And they really don’t want to turn it around.
