It’s incumbent on me to be as clear as possible with everyone, that I’ll be voting for Trump. This shouldn’t surprise anyone who knows me as I am a lifelong conservative and a longtime Republican.
People who know me also are aware of how critical I can be of my political party. I’ve voted for Donald Trump in the last two general elections, but by no means was he my first choice. Thus, I did it holding my nose.
I have issues with Trump as a politician, but I’ll be voting for him without hesitation over the most liberal and destructive President of my lifetime. It’s a no-brainer. Policy differences matter and we can no longer afford to set them aside in the name of abstract notions of norms and decorum.
We’ve had four years of failure on multiple fronts— record inflation, record illegal immigration, abysmal foreign policy, as well as lawfare against Trump. Americans are suffering under the cumulative weight of 20% inflation, from groceries and gas to healthcare to housing. The Democratic response to this has been to gaslight Americans. Still, voters are seeing reality for what it is: a decent-paying job is no longer enough to guarantee a prosperous stable lifestyle.
These failures result from deliberate policy choices, starting with the inflationary “American Rescue Plan,” to the day-one decisions that paved the way for anarchy at the border. We also must acknowledge the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, which gave the initial perception of our weakness to our enemies and green-lit their aggression toward our allies.
Most Americans who voted for Biden in 2020 thought they were voting for stability and got chaos, not just in our government but in their everyday lives.
Trump understands that leadership is more than sitting around a table debating policy. A primary job of the president is to instill confidence in the American people, something Biden is now completely incapable of and Trump did the four years he was president.
When it comes to policy, Trump isn’t perfect, nor is he a core conservative. But we know he would be a massive improvement over Biden’s failures. Trump’s campaign this time is far more strategic and professional than in 2016 and 2020, something we saw reflected in the polling even before the debate.
President Trump has also ushered in a realignment of working-class voters of all races into the Republican Party that makes the conservative coalition electorally stronger, something I’m particularly excited about and have written about at length. Now he has a chance to win more Black and Hispanic voters than any Republican in the last century. This will break the Democratic Party’s generational stranglehold on these voter groups. If this happens, it would be transformative for the future of the Republican Party and the country as a whole.
The Republican ticket of Donald Trump and J.D. Vance is a desperately needed vote for change. I am seeing more MAGA hats and Trump shirts than ever before when I am out and about. People are no longer afraid to openly support Trump even in Democratic-dominated areas like New York City, Chicago, and Detroit. Why? Because after 3-plus years of living in Joe Biden’s America, the slogan, “Make America Great Again” has never had a better ring to it.
