Yesterday, while finalizing today’s lineup for American Free News Network, I got a call from a friend, fellow veteran, conservative pundit, single malt sampler and cigar aficionado, David Webb.** Webb had come across something on X (more on this in a moment) and was asking for my assistance in properly expressing umbrage.
In conversations over the course of the last few years, Mr Webb has became well aware that during my last 10 years in the Army, I spent an inordinate amount of time in joint assignments. This of course required an ability to speak the language of the various service components.
For example, I learned that the Navy, when referring to the pointy end of their boats, uses the term, “the bow.” The right side is, “Starboard” and the left, “Portside.”
Marines speak in even more arcane terminology. For example, when marching troops, Marine Gunnery Sergeants can often be heard repeating “Jeow Freddie.” At first, I thought this was a Marine version of Army running cadences that refer to “Jody,” a n’ere-do-well who is well-known for taking liberties with Soldiers’ ladies while they are deployed. Alas, “Jeow Freddie, Jeow Freddie,” is just the Devil Dog manner of saying, “Left, Right. Left, Right.” Go figure.
I love Marines. I especially like them when they are irritated…by enemy actions…or leftist comments. In the first case, they usually vent their irritation via a violent bayonet attack (as in Fallujah) automatic fire or in more serious cases, an M-67 grenade…or perhaps, Naval Gunfire. 16” rounds, the weight of a Volkswagen, will definitely get your attention, that is, if you survive.
However, when stateside, not in a combat zone, and/or no longer an active member of The Corps, Marines are of course, limited to verbal responses. These responses are usually along the lines of proposing biologically impossible acts, said proposals often accompanied by observations as to the uncertain parentage of the offending party. However, even those are proscribed in polite company.
This brings me back to my conversation with Mr. Webb, sometime attendee of the Boat School on Chesapeake Bay and honored member of the United States Marine Corps. He was soliciting my assistance in answering an egregious act of disrespect to the Marine Corps and its storied history.
Despite the tongue-in-cheek comments above, I am very serious about the issue Mr. Webb brought to my attention…yet another instance of lack of seriousness by the Harris-Walz campaign.
He sent me a Post on X from Libs of TikTok to make this point.
Nothing could’ve prepared me for this…

In it, Gwen Walz, wife of VP candidate, Governor Tim Walz, sings an election motivation song, with the Official Hymn of the U.S. Marine Corps as its melody. I like to believe that David Webb and I are of a kind. We tend to give folks the benefit of the doubt and of course we both have a great, if ribald sense of humor.
However, in this case, I can see why Webb is disinclined to give any such benefit of the doubt…as am I. Why? Because the Harris-Walz presidential ticket is unserious and unqualified. Not only has the top of the ticket, failed to receive even 1 vote in the 2024 primary, she has never, ever, had a “buck-stops-here” duty position requiring decisions of national import.
The current administration, in which Harris was “the last one in the room,” when critical decisions were made, has overseen, nay engendered an unprecedented diminution of respect for the United States in the international community. This decline, culminated in a botched withdrawal from Afghanistan and resulted in the totally unnecessary attendance by 13 American families, at a 0200 Ramp Ceremony at Dover AFB. The World is on fire and the likelihood of American troops being decisively engaged in foreign lands, is increasing hourly.
Harris’s running mate, the sitting Governor of Minnesota, who by his long-term military service, could have added some military gravitas to her campaign, not only acts like a frat boy in public, but has dishonored his own service by outright lying about it. My own Sergeant Major (a real one by the way) has expressed a strong personal desire to “exercise some directed and focused leadership,” vis-a-vis MSG(R) Walz.
Walz’s wife, appears to be cut from the same unserious cloth, disrespectful towards institutions and people who have given their lives so she and her husband can cavort on the public stage.
Webb and I frequently trade inter-service jabs, both privately and across the airwaves…and especially the closer we get to that special weekend in December. That’s what we warriors do. But understand this, we warriors respect each other. As I mentioned to Webb yesterday, I’ve had Marines who worked for me, with me and under whose command I’ve served. They are my brothers and sisters. When Mrs Walz insults them, she insults me.

Outstanding post!
These losers on the L are mentally ill and by “virtue” of their perspectives on any thing serious are automatically disqualified. Looking at the L side of the ticket at this juncture in history is a nauseating experience. It is beyond me how any real American can be against MAGA. To quote FJB: “God save the Queen”, I mean the USA!🙏🇺🇸
My grandfather was a retired MSG (USAF, ETS Dec ’68) and I believe he too would be royally hacked off at this blight upon the SNCO ranks. Might I suggest AFI 36-106 as companion reading for FM 22-102?
