Oligarchs for Democracy?

An Oligarchy is “a government by the few.” So, when the transitioning Trump Administration puts together the duo of the richest man on the planet and a young, almost-billionaire to defund the Deep State Elites in government is the irony unseen? If it was a “Wraslin’” or mixed martial arts cage match, it’d be billed as the Baddest Billionaires vs. Icky Ivy Bureaucrats. The adjectives can be made more colorful for each arena. Yet, ironically, both sides are oligarchs.

Seriously, this is why politics is such a spectator sport. The next four years should be better than any reality TV. Even better than “The Apprentice.” Unfortunately, the downside of politics isn’t performance art. It’s like living on a farm downstream from a factory whose effluent can kill you as easily as its pollution could harm your crops and livestock to impoverish you.

Politics in America is uniquely colored by American Culture and Civilization. However, its dynamics are all about power and money as it always has been from the tiniest tribe to the greatest civilizations. It’s about people being people. See the Owner’s Manual on Humans (the Holy Bible) and read Shakespeare.

This election was the second observed win of the great middle class coalition bigger than FDR’s. This coalition of the wage earners, small business owners, independent professionals includes Movement Conservatives, Libertarians, Republicans, and Walk Away Democrats. It’s called “Populist” by some, but that isn’t really right. It could be the start of new Jacksonian Era 2.0.

Indeed, it’s reactionary against 30 years of betrayal of working Americans by their own governments since the fall of the Soviet Empire reset the world order. But, it’s not revolutionary. Peasants with pitchforks aren’t moving into the 8,000 political appointment jobs.

The men and women who will run the Executive Branch are the new oligarchs charged with the task of running out the old oligarchs. These people aren’t charismatic, bloody-bandaged leaders fresh from revolutionary barricades. They are selected change agents.

And, who isn’t cheering the changes which could be wrought from an Executive Branch which far exceeds Constitutional constraints?

The fun part will be watching what changes happen how – where “could” meets “should” and both bow to “can” and “will.” Get the big popcorn for this.

When Bobby Kennedy Jr. tries to Make American Healthy Again (MAHA), he goes up against Big Pharma, Big Food, Big Health, Big Insurance who make a lot of money the way things are today. Those “Bigs” have invested a lot of money in their Congressmen (both R and D) and in the media. They will be the tag team partner for the ensconced bureaucrats in the government. Their big bucks make them some big fellas indeed.

The spectacle doesn’t diminish the need to remove so much power from the Federal Government. It simply suggests there may be more showmanship than substance.

Name the “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington” in this lot kissing the ring at the kitschy, palatial Mar-a-Lago. Is there a Lech Walesa or Vaclav Havel bring ideologically-driven reforms? Certainly, there’s no dour Cromwell arming up. Yet, I cheer the nominees.

Frankly, I have high hopes for as much success as possible this Trump Administration can make to push back Cultural Marxism. Rooting out DEI/CRT is likely to be more successful across the board in four years than limiting the Federal Government. The Federal power is more likely to be re-directed than gutted as it should be.

Finally, let’s face facts. The top of the Federal Government – across the three branches – is an oligarchy. The Executive Branch may swap people in and out with each Administration, but, regardless, the few truly govern. The hierarchy is big, but the top of the pyramid is tiny – compared to the whole country.

These United States of America are a Republic. Democratic in its elections, but not a Democracy. Never meant to be a Democracy. And, never intended for oligarchs to rule from Washington.

Best wishes to oligarchs taking on the oligarchs.

Power to the States. Power to The People.
