In a tragic and chilling incident that has left the military and intelligence communities grappling for answers, Green Beret Matthew Alan Livelsberger, a decorated U.S. Army Special Forces soldier, died by suicide on January 1, 2025, in Las Vegas. In the days leading up to his death, Livelsberger sent a manifesto outlining alarming allegations about advanced drone technologies, war crimes, and a dire critique of U.S. leadership. The revelations have sparked widespread debate over his claims and the heavy burdens carried by modern warriors.
Livelsberger’s manifesto brought attention to what he described as a dangerous leap in drone technologies, specifically “gravitic propulsion systems” purportedly used by both the United States and China. These systems, he claimed, enabled highly advanced drones capable of surveillance and attacks on critical infrastructure. Livelsberger alleged that Chinese submarines had launched such drones along the U.S. Atlantic coast, citing a series of unexplained drone sightings in 2024. His writings warned of a growing threat to national security, painting a bleak picture of technological warfare.
The manifesto also accused U.S. agencies, including the CIA and Department of Defense, of covering up war crimes. Livelsberger pointed to 2019 airstrikes in Nimruz Province, Afghanistan, where he claimed over 65 civilian structures were deliberately targeted despite prior knowledge of non-combatant presence. He stated that these strikes resulted in hundreds of civilian deaths and that he personally participated in efforts to suppress this information while working with senior military and intelligence officials. These allegations, if true, raise deeply troubling questions about accountability and transparency in U.S. military operations.
In a critique of U.S. leadership, Livelsberger referred to the government as being run by “feckless” leaders driving the country toward collapse. This disillusionment with national governance adds another layer to his story, highlighting the complex relationship between soldiers who serve their country and the institutions they feel have failed them. His comments reflect a broader frustration shared by some within the military about the direction of U.S. foreign and domestic policy.
The manifesto, revealed in an episode of the “Shawn Ryan Show,” has ignited significant public and institutional scrutiny. Hosted by retired Navy SEAL Shawn Ryan, the podcast has become a platform for veterans to share their stories, often shedding light on difficult and uncomfortable truths
