Sitting in the Oval Office yesterday President Donald J. Trump signed the Executive Order giving full pardons to all the January 6th hostages, except for six. “So, this is January 6th, these are the hostages,” Trump said. “Approximately 1,500 for a pardon. Full pardon. We have about six commutations in there, where we’re doing further research. We hope they come out tonight, frankly. We’re expecting it.” He also stated that half of them should have been released six months earlier following the US Supreme Court’s ruling that the statute being used to charge & convict them did not apply to such cases.
Trump has repeatedly called them “hostages” and not “defendants.” I call them “political prisoners” who were thrown into prison for misdemeanors while Biden’s DOJ dismissed the felonies for the Democrats’ BLM/Antifa rioters.^
EXECUTIVE ORDER OF “NATIONAL RECONCILIATION”
In the J6 Executive Order issued just hours into his second term, President Donald J. Trump said that issuing the pardons would end “a grave national injustice that has been perpetrated upon the American people over the last four years and begins a process of national reconciliation.”
The order specifically grants clemency to 14 political prisoners associated with the patriot groups Oath Keepers and Proud Boys, while granting “a full, complete and unconditional pardon to all other individuals” convicted of participating in the protest.
It was not clear exactly when those currently in federal prison on January 6-related charges, some of whom have not yet been convicted, would be released. Trump’s proclamation ordered that the prisoners “are released immediately.”

^The same attorney general, Merrick Garland, who has spent four years persecuting Americans who visited their nation’s capital that day, dismissed charges, within days of being sworn in, against over four hundred 2020 rioters. The 2020 rioters damaged federal property and assaulted federal law enforcement officers during the weeks-long riots in 2020 in numerous Democrat-run cities.
