The phrase “My Body, My Choice” has become the modern-day mantra of the abortion movement—a slogan chanted at protests, printed on signs, and defended with religious-like zeal. It sounds empowering. It sounds liberating. But beneath the surface, it’s nothing more than a clever disguise for a brutal lie.
It’s not just a political talking point. It’s a moral and spiritual deception that has cost over 63 million lives in America alone—and wounded millions of hearts in the process.
Let’s pull back the curtain.
⸻
1. It’s Not Your Body
The entire abortion argument hinges on one fundamental lie—that the baby in the womb is somehow part of the mother’s body. But this is not science. It’s superstition dressed in progressive language.
From the moment of fertilization, a completely separate human being exists—one with unique DNA, a distinct heartbeat, and often a different blood type and biological sex. This child is not a tumor, organ, or parasite. It is a new human life, temporarily residing within the mother’s body, not part of it.
We don’t use bodily autonomy to justify violence against others. You can’t punch someone in the face and claim “my body, my choice.” And yet that same twisted logic is applied to a baby who is utterly dependent and voiceless. Dependence does not make someone less human—it makes them more deserving of protection.
⸻
2. The Womb Is Holy Ground
The Bible is clear and consistent on this: God knows and forms human life before birth.
“For You formed my inward parts; You knitted me together in my mother’s womb… I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
—Psalm 139:13–14
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you.”
—Jeremiah 1:5
This isn’t poetic metaphor. It’s divine revelation. God is not waiting for a baby to hit 40 weeks to bestow value. That value is woven into our DNA from the first cell division.
And let’s not forget the command that still matters today: “You shall not murder.” (Exodus 20:13) Ending an innocent life, whether inside or outside the womb, is a violation of God’s law.
⸻
3. “My Choice” Ends Where Another’s Life Begins
In every functioning society, personal freedom is limited when it threatens someone else’s life.
You can’t drink and drive. You can’t sell your kidney to the highest bidder. You can’t assault someone and claim it was your right.
So why would a woman’s bodily autonomy override the most basic human right of all—the right to life?
The baby in the womb is not her property. It’s not her tissue. It’s a separate person. And “choice” stops where innocent blood begins.
⸻
4. The Slippery Slope of Redefining Personhood
History has shown us repeatedly that once we start deciding who qualifies as “human enough” to live, atrocities follow.
It was done with slavery—where African people were deemed only three-fifths of a person.
It was done in Nazi Germany—where Jews, the disabled, and others were labeled as sub-human.
It’s happening again today—with the unborn.
The same society that shudders at racism and genocide now defends the dismemberment of fully formed babies in the name of convenience. That’s not progress. That’s regression into barbarism with better marketing.
⸻
5. “Her Body, Her Regret” — The Hidden Cost
The abortion industry preaches empowerment but profits off pain. They won’t tell you about the post-abortive depression, anxiety, infertility, or spiritual trauma that haunts millions of women afterward.
They won’t tell you that nearly 1 in 4 women in America will have an abortion by age 45 (Guttmacher Institute). Or that many do so under pressure, fear, or false information.
They especially won’t tell you about the ones who now speak out—who say, “I was lied to,” “I was rushed,” “I thought it wasn’t a baby,” or “I never healed.”
Abortion doesn’t just end a pregnancy. It ends a life—and often damages another.
⸻
6. You Don’t Own What You Didn’t Create
From a biblical standpoint, the “my body” argument collapses completely. Because your body isn’t your own—not if you belong to Christ.
“You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body.”
—1 Corinthians 6:19–20
If you’re a follower of Jesus, you don’t even get to claim full control over your own life, let alone someone else’s. Your body is a temple. Your life is a stewardship.
And the body inside your body? That’s a human life entrusted to you. Not a possession to discard.
⸻
7. Forgiveness is Real—for Everyone
Now hear this: if you’ve had an abortion—God still loves you. You are not beyond His reach.
Abortion is a sin, but it is not an unforgivable one.
The same Jesus who forgave the adulterer, the thief, the murderer, and the denier—He forgives this too. His mercy is not shocked by your story. And His blood covers even this.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
—1 John 1:9
There is healing for the guilt. Peace for the shame. Hope for the future.
You don’t have to carry this alone. You don’t have to hide. There are scars He can still turn into testimony.
⸻
8. The Numbers Don’t Lie
The scope of this crisis is staggering:
• 1 in 4 women in the U.S. will have an abortion by age 45.
• Over 630,000 abortions occur each year in the United States alone.
• That’s about 1,700 unborn children killed every single day.
• Since Roe v. Wade in 1973, over 63 million babies have been aborted in America—more than the population of California and Texas combined.
This isn’t a fringe issue. This is the silent genocide of our time. And history will ask us where we stood.
⸻
Final Word: Life Is Always the Right Choice
“My Body, My Choice” is not the cry of the oppressed. It’s the cry of a culture that has made self-worship its highest god. But when choice comes at the cost of innocent blood, it’s no longer freedom—it’s rebellion.
But Jesus offers another way.
He offers mercy for the mother. Redemption for the father. And justice for the child.
Because life—every time—is still the right choice.
