The Problem With Harvard

The problem is the people at Harvard whose worldview is doctrinaire Cultural Marxism. They are handmaidens of Human Secularist Totalitarianism no matter what they claim otherwise. The greater problem is that there aren’t enough people to replace them. Too few academicians hold the Biblical worldview of the American Revolution – commonly called Conservatism – to replace them all. Presidential Executive Orders and ending Federal funds won’t change who’s who teaching what at Harvard.

Harvard is imperious to a couple of years of Federal bluster and taking back bucks.

Harvard University is a giant hedge fund with a college campus. Harvard’s $53.2 billion endowment means it should ride out any cut in Federal funding or full-rides by foreign students until the Democrats get back in power and reverse it all.

There are two ways Harvard will change.

First, take away their real money. Tax their hedge fund into extinction. Even if Republicans had the vision and courage to be bold, it’d be hard to pretend such a change in the tax code is just part of budget reconciliation. So, it’d never get through the Senate. It probably wouldn’t get through the Senate if there were 60 Republican Senators. Establishment Republicans aren’t known for raising eyebrows or giving stern looks at Democrats, let alone gutting their source of power.

Second, institutions reform themselves in extremis. Higher education in Western Civilization has had ups and downs since Socrates was convicted of corrupting youth and sentenced to death.

Universities were established in the Middle Ages. Their evolution was strewn with challenges from the wars, revolutions, religious upheavals, finances, and government interventions to the Black Death.

Medieval universities were steeped in Scholasticism until replaced by the new knowledge of Humanism of the late Renaissance and Reformation. Universities changed as the Nation-State and the Enlightenment secularized higher education. Universities were whipsawed in the past two centuries by political expediency far more than they stood up as bastions for the free exchange of ideas and pursuit of learning.

Consequently, Harvard may preen as protectors of academic freedom. Harvard may puff up its non-binary chest to an Administration’s bullying. And get away with its greatest act of virtue signaling since University Hall was occupied in 1969.

Harvard will continue on its self-satisfied, well-financed way until its worldview is shattered by reality. By the truth of the world. By “Veritas” itself.

Harvard’s Cultural Marxist worldview will be shattered when the U.S. has its own October 7th. Maybe after the Jacquerie – peasants’ revolt – sweeps Europe. Maybe during the Sino-U.S. War for World Hegemony. Maybe when the U.S. economy collapses from government spending.

Maybe when its’ graduates advanced by DEI depreciate the value of a Harvard degree to mockery.

Or, when Cultural Marxism is as discredited intellectually as Social Darwinism and Eugenics. Oh, wait, Harvard taught Social Darwinism and Eugenics. The NAZIs made those studies passe. Must it take such a horror to eradicate Cultural Marxism?

The current cancerous tumor of Human Secularist Totalitarianism must be cut out. The quest for Veritas restored. Also, true tolerance given for any intellectual seeking “Veritas Christo et Ecclesiae.”

[Full disclosure: I earned a Masters in Public Administration at the JFK School of Government, Harvard University. I was in the small Two Year MPA program 1979-81. It was a remarkable experience. As an active duty Army officer I expected resentful residue from the Vietnam War. There was none. It was the most civilized place I’d ever been. Everyone seemed sincerely interested in learning. There were actually a few Conservative professors. They were well-respected. Political Correctness wasn’t a thing, yet. It was an incredible, intellectually honest education. That was 45 years ago.]

I hope I see Harvard University restore itself to the still-ascending idea of Veritas.
