Armand Domalewski describes himself, in his Twitter biography, as a “Data scientist” living in San Francisco, and “Co-Founder, YIMBYs for Harris”. He’s actually followed by several real people I know, so perhaps he’s not an actual Palestinian bot, like so many of the other pro-Hamas posters on social media, but in this, he might as well be.
Mr Domalewski tweeted that the headline on the Babylon Bee satire site, “Gaza Said To Be Starving But Not ‘Release The Hostages’ Starving,” “is an evil, evil, evil headline”, But, even from a sarcasm site, it’s an accurate headline. The only thing that needs to happen for tons and tons of food and other aid to flow into Gaza is for Hamas to surrender and release the hostages. But the Palestinians and their useful idiots on social media would rather keep on fighting an unwinnable war.
Let’s tell the truth here: many Gazans know exactly where the remaining hostages are being held, and could, if they chose, free them, or at least inform the Israel Defense Force where they are being held, but they aren’t doing so, are they?
Mr Domalewski quite naturally didn’t suggest that Hamas could surrender and release the hostages, to save the civilians in Gaza, in the referenced tweet, nor anything else I could find in a quick perusal of his other messages.
This is a huge failing among even those liberals who are real people. My good friend Daniel Pearson, the main editorial writer for The Philadelphia Inquirer, tweeted:
I don’t think that the term “globalize the intifada” is appropriate but people need to be honest about the fact that the only way to cool the intensity and anger of the pro Palestine movement is to lift the siege on Gaza, supply food, arrest Bibi & establish a Palestinian state.
Let’s tell the truth here: the Palestinians themselves will never be satisfied with a “Palestinian state” in Gaza, Judea, and Samaria; they want all of the land of the Levant, and that’s why Yassir Arafat turned down the offer by then-Prime Minister Ehid Barak, because he knew that the irredentists would slit his throat for not demanding the entire area.
Prime Minister Netanyahu is doing the job Israelis elected him to do: defend Israel! Mr Pearson’s argument — and I do respect him, but he’s way, way, way wrong here — could have come from Josef Goebbels, demanding that the Third Reich be protected and Franklin Roosevelt be arrested for daring to bomb Germany. The IDF wouldn’t be methodically destroying Gaza if Hamas hadn’t attacked Israel, killing about 1,200 people and kidnapping 251 more to serve as hostages, just as the United States under President Roosevelt wouldn’t have been relentlessly bombing Germany if the Nazis hadn’t started World War II in Europe, and declared war on the US.
At least Mr Pearson isn’t a mindless bot. But so many of the others, like Caitlin Johnstone, Nader, Mohamad Safa, AssalRad and thousands of others, if they aren’t actual bots, might as well be.
