Is Crossfire Hurricane Also an Espionage Scandal?

FBI Director Cash Patel has discovered thousands of Crossfire Hurricane documents in a hidden room at FBI headquarters – many in burn bags. That someone at the FBI was trying to destroy evidence about the Russia collusion hoax, makes Watergate pale in comparison. But what was reportedly found in those burn bags should have Director Patel wondering if we have another Robert Hanssen working for the government. Did adversaries of the United States successfully trigger over 8 years of political chaos, and possibly overturn an election, using moles in our intelligence community (IC)?

Fox News is reporting that one of the documents intended for destruction, indicated that Russians knew “with alarming specificity” that our FBI would join the effort to use fabricated evidence to tar Donald Trump as a puppet of Vladimir Putin. Apparently, our intelligence services had intercepted Russian communications about that little tidbit of useful information, which they had hacked from George Soros’ Open Society Foundation email.

Conservative pundits are giddy that the “discovered” documents provide further proof of a broad conspiracy within our IC to undermine the will of the electorate. However, the discovery also raises questions which should sober every American.

Accurate and with “alarming specificity,” doesn’t make me conclude that Open Society Foundation was clairvoyant. I think it indicates foreknowledge – information from a mole. Was a spy providing classified information to potential adversaries? Was Open Society Foundation serving as a purveyor of intelligence to America’s foreign adversaries? That possibility, raises disturbing questions, and may connect some of the dots comprising the complete picture of this scandal.

If there was a spy in our IC, who were the possible “clients” for such a traitor? Would they have been limited to malevolent NGOs, or might they include Russia and China? Would the spy have cared that they were helping to destabilize America, or was that an acceptable price for “getting Trump”?

If there was a spy, was he/she doing more than telling our adversaries about the illegal activities of our IC leadership? Could the spy also have been conducting operations on behalf of our adversaries? Did the Open Society Foundation know about the imminent “Russian collusion” hoax because it was a participant in the operation?

With knowledge of illegal activities in adversarial hands, how vulnerable to manipulation was the leadership of the FBI, CIA, and ODNI? Have our adversaries capitalized on any of those vulnerabilities? Based on the intercepted communications, Vladamir Putin knew officials in our FBI were attempting to overthrow our government. Could he have made use of that knowledge? Did he?

How many co-conspirators might a high-level spy in the IC have recruited? How desperate might the co-conspirators be, to prevent evidence of their treason from becoming public?

  • Would they attempt to frame an incoming National Security Advisor?
  • Would they attempt to censor social and news media?
  • Would they claim any uncovered evidence is Russian “disinformation”?
  • Would they lie under oath to Congress?
  • Would they attempt to destroy evidence of the crime – like via a burn bag?
  • Would they raid a former President’s home in search of incriminating evidence?
  • Would they attempt to frame, impeach, and imprison the target of their operation – Donald J. Trump – to prevent any future investigation?

If there was a spy in our IC, where were they in the chain of command to have had influence over those things?

Treason is the crime of betraying one’s country, specifically by attempting to overthrow the government or by aiding its enemies. Does affecting the results of an election in cooperation with foreign actors constitute “overthrowing the government”? I note that the statute of limitations on espionage is 10 years, and there is no statute of limitation on treason.
