The Signal Breaks

Andrew patched into an old Army commsat. “I found something,” he said. “A pattern in the global Neuralink transmissions. Someone’s talking through it—broadcasting subliminal commands.”

“Programming humans?” Caleb asked.

“Worse. Filtering them. Obedient minds rise. Others… vanish from the system.”

Rue sat sharpening a knife with his good arm. “Mass compliance without firing a shot.”

They resolved to find the origin of the signal. But time was running out. Caleb received word that his mother, a vocal dissenter, had been detained under a new Homeland Compliance Act. The regime had his family.

His soul burned. His mission shifted.
