Once sacred, now quietly being sidelined while Washington pretends nothing’s happening. Meanwhile, America borrows trillions it can’t repay, and the Fed toggles between printing presses and interest-rate whiplash like a caffeinated day trader.
Want to feel truly secure? Try buying a home. The so-called “American Dream” now requires a 30-year shackle to the bank, with buyers effectively paying three times a home’s sticker price over the life of a mortgage. Rates hover in the 6% range, housing prices never reset after the Great Recession, and inventory is so low that sellers sit smugly on their 3% loans while the next generation of buyers is locked out entirely. This isn’t wealth creation—it’s debt slavery in suburbia.
Then there are tariffs. Politicians package them as “tough on China,” but they land like a national sales tax. Every toaster, phone, and kid’s bike costs more, and the working class pays the bill. Inflation spikes, wages lag, and families plug the gap with credit cards carrying 25% APR. It’s not economic patriotism—it’s pickpocketing with a flag pin.
Layer on record consumer debt—$18 trillion and climbing—along with a culture addicted to outrage. We’re not just broke; we’re divided, angry, and ready to torch our neighbor’s lawn sign. The 2008 housing bubble never truly healed; it was just papered over with cheap money. Now the bill is due, and it arrives at the same time Americans are more polarized than ever, half-convinced the other half is the true enemy.
Here’s the bitter truth: the U.S. doesn’t need Russia, China, or Iran to take it down. We’re doing the job ourselves—by inflating bubbles, taxing ourselves with tariffs, and tearing each other apart while drowning in debt. Call it “national security by self-destruction.” Tanks can’t crack the foundation of a country already crumbling from within.
