Heritage American vs Creedal America

The Heritage Americans vs Creedal America debate is based on a false dichotomy. As a Nation, we need to sit down and read Sam Huntington’s last book, “Who Are We?”. Read the elements of essential Americanism and how they evolved. There is indeed an “American Creed”. And there are Heritage Americans. But “heritage” isn’t based on lineage. Heritage is based on assimilation. Americanism is a belief and a whole-hearted adoption into an established history – a heritage.

An American believes in the American Creed, assimilates, and accepts America as a common heritage and a personal trust.

A brand-new, thickly-accented naturalized American is as American as any descendant of Jamestown or the Mayflower – legally. Has equal rights and privileges, except ineligible to be President of these United States of America. Equal under the law, but not equal in experience with someone born in America.

Many claims about Heritage Americanism quickly go down to Ethnonationalism, exclusively White or European America, or ridiculous grades of Americanism based on ancestors’ arrival. The arguments are insipid, racist rabbit holes. Don’t go there.

Likewise, the Creedal America claims that every “paper” American is as much an American in every aspect of being an American as those whose families paid the Blood Tax in American wars is provably false.

So, what is fully American and what isn’t?

Creed++. It’s Political. Yes, American identity is political in its shared ideas. All the ideas that define our politics as American count.

English. The language unites Americans. The full heritage of English law, literature, art, music, folklore, customs, and history come as part and parcel.

Religious Symbols. Public symbols, not compulsory worship, of Christianity and to a lesser degree Judaism are American.

Unique Ideology. Equally some foundational ideological precepts apply:

Liberty. Comes from God-given Rights. The God of the King James Bible, even though it’s a Protestant book, is the God of all Christians and Jews. Set aside theological arguments. Understand the nature of the Creator and giver of life and laws – where Christians and Jews use the same sacred writings as foundational to their worldview.

Equality. Equal opportunity and respect took time to include all Americans. The powerful, ascending idea prevailed over prejudices.

Individualism. The emphasis on individual conscience, rights, and responsibility is quintessentially and exceptionally American.

Pluralism and Populism. America’s traditional motto “E Pluribus Unum” tattoos pluralism on our National Seal. Our traditional support for the rights and power of The People – the underdog, the little guy – against privilege and abuse is expressed as populism. Both concepts fueled our Revolution.

Laissez-faire economics. Governments increasingly infringe on the free market to an alarming degree. Dedication to keep our economic freedom among the highest in the world is very American.

War Experience. Every immigrant community which pays the generational blood tax serving in American wars is accepted as American.

Consensus Culture. Sharing what remains of consensus culture in every American institution and every uniquely-defined American cultural artifact are part of American identity. Think music, sports, hot dogs, and the Fourth of July, etc.

Foundational Document. The King James Bible is America’s foundational document. If you don’t know the Bible, you don’t know the American Revolution Biblical Worldview. The worldview for America’s consensus culture until 1962 and for half of the US since then.

The ideas in the Bible about the nature of God and man, about what is right and wrong, family – set all the big, fundamental ideas for society. Christians and Jews share those ideas. Others do not.

Assimilation. A paper American is not fully assimilated until they speak English and accept the ideas of the Bible. They can follow the ideas, even without fully knowing the Bible, if they become Christian or Jewish. A completely assimilated American is Christian, Jewish, or holds the American Revolution Biblical worldview despite their professed religion or its absence.

That means Hindus, Buddhists, most other religions, and the neo-Pagans who call themselves Atheists can contribute as Americans and be very good Americans, as long as they don’t try to implant their worldview in our Judeo-Christian Culture.

Consequently, all immigration must be kept to assimilable numbers.

Problem with Islam. Islam is at war, “Dar al-harb”, with every other religion and culture on the planet. Islam is the enemy of Western Civilization. Anyone who supports Sharia in the U.S. is the declared enemy of the Constitution.

Muslims can be Americans as long as they don’t follow the Koran and Hadith.

Islam should be criminalized as an ideology, not for the backward, barbaric religion and culture it includes. Islam needs to be contained in the world already under Islamic conquest.

Muslims who paid the blood tax, like the Army’s pagan Indian scouts, can live here without America acknowledging their savage religion.

Unspoken Certitude. New Americans and first full generational Americans should learn American manners.

Don’t lecture Americans – especially those ancestors who have multiple generations of service, sacrifice, and loyalty as proven Americans. Regardless of when their first ancestor served in an American war from GWOT to the first Powhatan War, don’t talk down about American history. Or, especially about being American.

Special Note: Don’t lecture folks whose families arrived as immigrants desperate to become Americans and paid an extraordinary price in work and blood to be fully American.

Don’t lecture the folks, White and Black, whose families were on the frontier and made something from nothing. Who survived Indian attacks, a costly Revolution and awful Civil War, disease, volatile elements, and many deprivations to create America.

Especially don’t lecture Southerners. Yankees are foreign enough to test our tolerance already. Southerners have an unspoken certitude about what they will do to defend their homes. Furthermore, the Bible belt across the South girds The People like no other force on Earth can.

Finally, don’t belittle, let alone threaten, Americans’ family, faith, or freedom. Way more than enough Americans share the unspoken certitude that it won’t go well for our enemies.
