Two people that President Obama Warned President Elect Trump about: Little Rocket Man Kim Jung Un And-incredibly-LTG Michael T. Flynn (USA, Retired.)
We left off with what was described by the President Obama National Security Team as a very courageous-bold-call to raid the so-called Abbottabad Compound in Pakistan based on a 65% chance that UBL was there.
There had been an ongoing debate about the Abbottabad Compound-who found it, when it was noticed, why it was suspected, why it wasn’t struck earlier, what took so long, etc. Myriad ongoing government efforts spent years looking for UBL.
There was a so-called Historic Research Cell (HRC) stood up to do multi-intelligence and all source reporting on all leads related to UBL that combined analytic elements of DIA, CIA, NGA, NSA, NRO and others with necessary expertise to track him down.
The HRC identified the compound in 2007 or 2008-among many potential locations along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border area-years ahead of the strike. The compound was more suspicious because of what was not seen than what was noticed.
You rarely find a compound in that part of the world that does not have signs-patterns of life-like garbage, cable, internet, cell or satellite phone signals, vehicles, animals, laundry, agricultural activity (growing small crops within the compound,) etc. It is as rare as hen’s teeth to find such a black hole where either nobody lives there at all-which does not happen-or the compound is a complete zero in terms of observables-all the resources that intelligence tradecraft can bring to bear against a target. You almost never find such a thing in terms of light and litter discipline, signals, etc.- in that part of the world.
When the decision was made to produce a model of the compound-in fact two of them-that was pretty much the tell that something big was going to happen. If anybody visits the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency Headquarters in Springfield, Virginia you can see one of the two models on display outside the Director’s Office.
Much of the above is academic to the case of why the deep state swamp-led by Obama, executed by his administration-DOJ, FBI, aided and abetted by the DNI, CIA, and NSA-with co-conspirators passing on all the back hall nonsense, intrigue and leaking to the LSMBTGA propaganda and agit prop-went after Michael Flynn.
Kim because he had recently tested a submarine launched ballistic missile capability that-in conjunction with China building artificial islands in the South China Sea and populating them with military hardware-runways, air defense systems, etc.-was changing the threat matrix in the region during a time the US was not countering such efforts through diplomacy or shows of military might.
Sometimes it is difficult to lead from behind when you are a leader: a one-man patrol does not for a patrol make.
Michael Flynn was somewhat of a puzzlement-unless you were witting to and following the back-story. It was a conspiracy theory (he cried) of the wild and crazy-toothless class-variety at the time, that it was because he was the only member of the emerging team Trump cabinet who had true intel chops and would be able to unwind-from inside the government-all the steps the Obama administration had undertaken to undermine the republican opponent to Obama heir apparent Hillary Rodham Clinton (HRC.)
A conspiracy theory of the crazy kind that required “racist” thinking that believed the absolute worst of the scandal free Obama Administration (he breathlessly declared: author’s note-there are 784 entries in this list and it has not been updated. The main issue in the final analysis was not known until recently. What we could not know until it was released-declassified-in the last several years was that Mike Flynn had to go because of the events of 9 December 2016 when Obama scrapped the scheduled President’s Daily Brief in favor of a Principals Meeting of the National Security Council at which he set plans in motion to go after Trump with the full force and weight of the US government.
Mike Flynn never knew what hit him. From the above piece:
A sealed statement from Strzok confirmed that the “agents did three briefings the day of the interview,” and that Strzok had reported that Flynn “had a sure demeanor, and he was telling the truth or believed he was—even though he did not remember it all.” This led the FBI and DOJ to then write “an internal memo dated January 30, 2017, exonerating Mr. Flynn of acting as an “agent of Russia” and expressing no concern of a possible Logan Act violation.
What? The FBI wrote an exonerating memo? On Mike Flynn about being an agent of Russia? Under the dinosaur, er, Logan Act? What happened to that?
I updated this episode of Obama going after Flynn with the might of the US government when reports of the Dutch Counterintelligence reports went public as reported here. Say what you will about what Obama did or did not know and when, but it is kind of difficult to deny he knew about the Clinton pursued Trump Russia smear scheme when a whole meeting took place dedicated to the subject where Brennan briefed Obama’s Team that resulted in an Intelligence Community Investigative Referral to the FBI.
A meeting that could have been entitled, “the jig is up! Now what?”
So there was that-what I described as an unforced error, Freedom Of Information Act (FOIAble) event.
This meeting was somewhat part 1 of the full-fledged scheme, which would unfold on 9 December 2016. Which is the actual reason that LTG Michael T. Flynn was targeted, besides being loathed by the three major clowns in the clown car-Obama, Clapper and Brennan.
It was the 9 December 2016 meeting.
Flynn was already ensconced as Trump’s National Security Advisor. He would most certainly be interested in the 3 August Dutch Counterintelligence penetration of the Russian Cozy Bear cyber hack of the Democrat National Committee. And why any US President would shut that source off by letting the Russians know we knew about it and admonishing the Dutch to heavily compartmentalize the information.
That information was headed for deep sixing in a burn bag as Clinton headed toward the coronation aisle-but would become a yuge item in the inconvenient information tidbits bin after the Bad Orange Man won in November.
Think about myriad awkward and inconvenient “schtuff” that all became like hanging chads demanding scrutiny when Trump won the 2016 election that would be ripe for someone to discover who had intel chops: like Flynn. DC under the Obama Administration going after the Bad Orange Man while covering down for Clinton was like a septic tank brimming with compromising material.
There was the collusion to deep six Clinton’s illegal server and email problems. The fact that the DOJ-Loretta Lynch-was in the tank and actually sharing the status of DOJ investigations with her campaign. There was the DNC getting advanced debate questions. There was the shanking of Bernie Sanders campaign-particularly after Clinton took it over because Wazaman Schnitz’s fundraising skills were zeeero-the DNC was broke… There was the Obama meeting to address Clinton’s approval of the plan to smear Trump with a Russian Collusion Hoax that was found out from the Dutch. There was the Intelligence Community Investigative Referral based on that plan. There was the collusion of Brennan with the Gang of 8 where he did a dipsy do, flipperoo promoting the Clinton scheme, telling them that Putin was colluding on behalf of Trump to steal the election from Clinton-which somehow came on the heels of the Dutch Counterintelligence briefing to Obama that told the opposite story: resulting in a memo from Dirty Harry Reid to the FBI to investigate Trump for Russia Collusion. There was the John McCain initiated trip by his Chief of Staff (David McKay?) to London, resulting in his obtaining a copy and ultimately compromising the Steele Dossier at the DC based McCain Center in a meeting with a Daily Beast Reporter-who made a copy of it when it was left on the table as McKay went to the bathroom (aka, the big DC dump.) This was about the time the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence Security Chief was indicted for leaking classified information for years but as of late to his girlfriend who worked for the Daily Beast. There was all the Iran collusion and payouts-the secrecy-the Ben Rhodes lies-all that cash-to bribe Iran to get the JCPOA signed. There was later the scheme to brief the Steele Dossier to Obama and then Trump as a ploy to get the LSMBTGA to print the damn thing…
There was the very inconvenient fact that Team President Elect Trump started routinely receiving the President’s Daily Brief in early November 2016 which was of great interest to Flynn.
Just imagine how anticipated by the Trump Team the 9 December 2016 PDB was, representing the culmination-final report in the 2016 election series-that was going to disprove and put to bed once and for all the notion that Russia had any significant influence in the 2016 Presidential Election. It was going to be great to get that nonsense behind them.
Until it was canceled at the last moment and replaced with an Obama National Security Council Principals Meeting, followed by a deluge of LSMBTGA leaks that papered over DC with the new US government position that Russia stole the election from Clinton on behalf of Trump.
The next thing you know leaks were springing up all over DC about Michael Flynn the traitor who was a Russian-Putin sympathizer who had failed to register as a “foreign agent.” This was the reward Mike received for his three decades long service to this country and stepping up to help Trump: railroaded by some punk politician who could not carry his jock. Who set the hounds of our government loose acting like the Stasi State on Mike during a time when real criminals were being let go for actual crimes, including our ethically and morally challenged government officials.
When the scandal free Obama Administration on 9 December 2016 chose to go all-in on the made up narrative that the Russians-Putin-interfered in the 2016 election on behalf of Donald Trump-with a narrative that he preferred to deal with Trump and had therefore “stolen the election from Hillary Rodham Clinton,” there was no turning back for Team Obama’s National Security Team.
They could not afford any squishes. It was an all-in, my way or the highway gambit that would start with flooding the zone of the entirety of the LSMBTGA via print, broadcast and internet media. Followed by official intelligence community action to cement the predicate for the actions in the form of a rushed, ham handed Intelligence Community Assessment to make it official by providing the predicate-which did not currently exist-to pave the way for the official Presidential Statements that would include the condemning of the Russians and the official declaration of persona non grata status followed by the kicking out of the country of select Russian officials.
By this action President Obama took ownership of the HRC election smear campaign Steele Dossier Russia Russia, Russia, Pee Pee Hoax, as well as her 26 July 2016 approved plan to smear Trump through an effort that tied him to Putin to take attention off of her illegal email server that was still being trumpeted by many news outlets despite the Comey effort to exonerate her on 5 July 2016.
It had to be 5 July 2016 because that was the day President Obama was going to join HRC on the campaign trail for the first time, arriving in the Carolinas with a splash on Air Force 1.
I wrote a series of articles about Mike Flynn when he released his documentary about his railroading by the Obama Administration that continued long after President Trump took office.
I did so because having met with and worked with my fellow Rhode Islander, I knew a little bit about what he had done in his military career and I found it disgusting and ridiculous that he was being singled out to be punished for the obvious offense of zealously supporting Donald J. Trump and getting caught up in the vitriol that many in that orbit drew from all quarters of the LSMBTGA.
Mike was never made whole again after the criminal proceedings that about bankrupted him, forcing him to sell his home. The treatment of Flynn is a cautionary tale about the Trump orbit where many of those who stepped up to help have been manhandled, lawfared and broken financially by the deep state swamp: democrats-demonrats-all.
People like Mike should be made whole somehow. If it happened to Trump he would sue the pants off of the FBI and DOJ and Obama: Trump can afford it.
Whereas Mike-even after the charges were dropped because of the malfeasance of his lawyers-Covington and Burling (Michael Chertoff)-best that money can buy-and the DOJ prosecution team, as well as the FBI, had to be pardoned by Trump when Judge Emmit Sullivan refused to drop the case and actually appointed a lawyer to represent the court to continue the trial after the charges were dropped by DOJ.
Putting Mike in the nebulous position of continuing to pay for the lawyers and rolling the dice-being an innocent man who was in the precarious position where if he continued to fight in court against Sullivan-who had the bagels to refer to Mike at one point in the proceedings as a traitor-lucky that Flynn did not kick his cowardly, big mouthed arse-and Sullivan ran out the clock with continuations that lapsed into a new administration-and it turned out to be Biden-then new DOJ Merrick Garland could reopen the case and continue to bankrupt Flynn through legal and court fees to an unknown end.
There was no there, there to the Flynn railroading. The FBI didn’t finalize the official 302 of his interviews until weeks after it was conducted: it was finalized by lawyer Lisa Page-who was not part of the interview. The FBI had the transcript of his discussions with Kislyak all along: the future National Security Advisor conducting business with a key US concern. The word sanctions was never mentioned in the discussion.
VP Mike Pence seemed only too anxious to turn on Flynn when he was being played by Sally Yates with seeming disregard for the facts: the dinosaur/Logan Act, really? GTFO here.
And-of course-we now know that the declaration of persona non grata status to kick the Russian diplomats out of the US for election interference was made up, President Obama donkey dung nonsense: the plan hatched 9 December 2016 to cover the arse of Team Obama-who as of that date-lacked a predicate for such an action that had to be created by the slap dash Intelligence Community Assessment on Russian interference choreographed by Brennan later that month.
Flynn was never an agent of a foreign government due to his status as a subcontractor to a firm that was registered. The work was in support of NATO ally Turkey. Regardless, his very expensive lawyers convinced him to file FARA paperwork, anyway-just to cover his butt-and that-like everything else-was leaked to the LSMBTGA as if it was an admission of guilt.
His lawyers failed to advise him that the DOJ had offered a plea deal. What he eventually pled to was a drug deal, stop beating your wife ruse in an attempt to prevent the Feds from going after his son.
Which is how it came to be that Trump had to Pardon an innocent man.
Trump still needs to find a way to recognize Mike and make him whole: it is not too late.
