During WWII the upper echelon German leaders’ culture was fight to the death, embracing even suicide…as Hitler did. The troops, however, were not fatalistic inasmuch as when faced with obvious over-powering odds they surrendered. The Japanese had a different culture: Military officers and their soldiers believed honorable death, including Hara‑kiri, was preferrable to capitulation. Their Emperor was slightly more realistic, calling it quits after experiencing the devastation of nuclear bombs.
Though the allies changed the culture of the WWII losers; Germany, Italy, and Japan, were rewarded by becoming capitalistic democracies and living happily ever after – at least until Russia attacked Ukraine.
Formed from Persia in 1935, the Islamic Republic of Iran, by their official name, is a nation of Islam. This religious-zealot country’s end game is to kill or convert infidels and never accept, negotiate or honor anything short of this goal. As part of their culture and core beliefs: Martyrdom is a just reward. They cannot be defeated in the common sense of the word, as they consider dying a win. Regardless of the cost to Americans and the destruction of vital petroleum assets; America, being a benevolent people, stands ready to assist Iranians achieve their just reward.
