A mother killing her children is no big deal in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
9 women and a couple of men on a jury decided that a woman has the right to a post-partum abortion. All she has to say is she has depression and magically she cannot be convicted for strangling her three children to death, one at a time.
That is my summary of the Lindsay Clancy murder case.
One male juror held out, making justice possible for prosecutors to try the case again. But a new jury likely would reach the same conclusion because liberals have took over the state long ago. The right to life is as dead as patriotism in Massachusetts.
While some view the women jurors as vile, men enabled this. When 7 Supreme Court justices in 1973 granted women the right to abort their children, the devil cackled and America lost part of its soul.
We became ancient Rome, where expositio—abandoning infants—was the fate for newborns families did not want. They did not outright kill the babies. They did something crueler. They left them to die.
As head of the household, Roman men decided whether a family would accept a new baby. The unaccepted infants were left in a public place, such as Columna Lactaria in Rome. Most died from exposure, starvation, or animals. Some were raised as slaves.
The practice continued for 1,000 years. Then Christians came along and condemned the practice. In 374 AD, a law under Emperor Flavius Valentinianus, a Christian, finally banned infanticide.
Now, more than 1,600 years later, Massachusetts has revived the idea of killing of no longer wanted children outright.
I suppose one can argue in vain that a jury’s refusal to convict a self-professed murderer of murder technically is not the law. True, but the state recently joined New York and other Third World states in legalizing abortion up to the point of birth. In many states, a baby that survives abortion simply is killed anyway.
Post-birth abortion is logically next.
The media is campaigning for the return of expositio as heralds Kevin Reddington, the defense lawyer, as a hero in nationally televised interviews. The storyline holds the prosecutor as compassionless and the holdout juror as a villain.
And you thought Sympathy for the Devil was just a song by the Rolling Stones.
Jurors are going on TV to vilify the man who gave justice the hope of a return match. The more they talk, the deeper the hole they dug.
One of the jurors said of the holdout, “He had the hardest time getting off the fact that Lindsay viciously killed her children.”
The panel of nine women and three men deadlocked after splitting 11-1, but one woman, identified as Juror No. 5, told local media that the holdout at the end of deliberations wasn’t the only one who initially thought Clancy was guilty.
“The stand-alone juror was not the only one that was unwilling to see things from the other side, so I’m going to kind of defend that individual in a sense,” she told the Boston-based WBZ-TV. “There were some big personalities in that room, but at the end of the day, it just came down to an inability to move past your convictions.”
She, too, was originally in favor of a guilty verdict, she told the outlet.
“And maybe I still believe that in a certain way,” she added. “I think that this is a woman who was not mentally healthy.”
Perhaps the prosecution team was not up to the task but Timothy J. Cruz has been the Plymouth County District Attorney for 25 years. He is a Republican, the longest-serving of Massachusetts’ 11 district attorneys, a former president of the Massachusetts District Attorneys Association, and the current president of the National District Attorneys Association.
Neither he nor his assistants are trannies, contrary to Internet gossip.
No, this terrible decision is on the jury.
Some attribute the jury’s blasé attitude toward the murder of three pre-schoolers by their mother to the legalization and acceptance of abortion. I belong to that group of some.
That would explain why the press spin is that the question was whether she did this. She did. She confessed to killing them. No, the question is whether she should legally be allowed to kill all her children because of post-partum depression.
Thanks to liberals, we abandoned the execution of murderers but embraced the murder of babies in the womb. This does not bode well for the future of the United States of America.
