“The Bible You Never Learned: Eden, Rebellion, Jesus, and the Real Story God Told”
A Five-Part Series for Christians Ready to Read the Bible as the Authors Wrote It. Not what your Sunday School Teacher told you!
Jesus is the center of the entire Bible because He answers all three rebellions. He defeats the serpent (Gen. 3; Rev. 12), proclaims victory over the imprisoned Watchers (1 Pet. 3:19–20), and reclaims the nations disinherited at Babel (Matt. 28:18–20; Acts 2). He is the Second Adam (1 Cor. 15:45), restoring humanity’s failed vocation.
Jesus is the new Tree of Life. He gives eternal life (John 10:28), offers living water (John 4:14), and becomes the way back into sacred space (Heb. 10:19–20). Eternal life is not a fruit but a person. The kingdom He launches is Eden restored. The Spirit indwells believers (1 Cor. 3:16), making them walking Edens—centers of sacred space spreading across the earth.
Pentecost reverses Babel. The nations hear the gospel in their own languages (Acts 2:5–11). The powers lose their grip. Paul declares that believers will “judge angels” and “judge the world” (1 Cor. 6:2–3). That is priest-king language, the original Adamic calling restored. The Church’s mission is nothing less than reclaiming the nations for God—the thing Israel failed and Jesus now achieves.
The story ends not with Christians floating in heaven, but with heaven descending to earth (Rev. 21:1–3). The Tree of Life returns (Rev. 22:1–2), the curse is removed (Rev. 22:3), and humanity reigns with God forever (Rev. 22:5). This is Eden globalized. Sacred space fills creation. God dwells with humanity again. The mission of Genesis 1 is fulfilled through the Messiah.
Most Christians have no idea their eternal destiny is to rule the New Creation with Jesus. The meek will inherit the earth (Matt. 5:5). Humanity’s everlasting purpose is priestly rule—governing, stewarding, creating, judging, and expanding the goodness of God through the renewed cosmos. Not harp-playing. Not cloud-floating. Real embodied vocation on a real redeemed world.
The entire Bible is the story of God reclaiming His world and restoring humanity to its original calling as His divine image-bearers. Eden lost. Eden echoed. Eden invaded. Eden fulfilled. Eden restored. And now, through Jesus, Eden becomes the destiny of every human who joins God’s family.
