The three Muhammads, the plan they wrote down, the countries that already lived it, and why the American Left is holding the door open.

Yes, the capitalization is a pun. Khomeini named America “the Great Satan.” Big Devil. U-S-A. Us. I teach high school, and there is a clause somewhere in my contract requiring at least one terrible pun per lesson. Box checked. Moving on.

Grab a coffee. Grab two. This one is long, because the people who most need to read it have spent twenty years getting their theology from protest signs and their history from a TikTok with a sad violin under it. I am going to fix that in one sitting. There will be a quiz at the end. I grade on a curve, but not a generous one.

Now let me say the thing that gets me called an Islamophobe before I finish the second paragraph.

I do not care.

I have Muslim friends. Not “I have a Muslim friend” the way people say it right before they say something ugly. Real ones. I texted one of my soldiers “Ramadan Mubarak” this year, and he texted back “Ramadan Kareem.” One of my closest friends in Iraq was a Muslim interpreter who walked beside American soldiers every day, knowing exactly what would happen to him and his family if the wrong people ever recognized his face. I have fought beside Muslims. I have treated Muslims. When a man is bleeding out on your litter, nobody checks his theology. You pack the wound.

So hear me clearly, because the bad-faith crowd is already warming up the quote-tweet.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT MUSLIM PEOPLE.

This is about a POLITICAL SYSTEM that rides inside a religion like a stowaway rides inside a cargo container. It has its own law, its own courts, its own foreign policy, and its own stated goal. It told us what that goal is. It wrote it down. Some of it got entered into federal evidence in Texas.

And the most astonishing part of the entire story is not what that system wants.

The most astonishing part is who is holding the door open for it.

— A QUICK REMINDER ABOUT THE HOUSE ON THE HILL —

A week ago I told you about a house. You own it. You built it. A neighbor knocks, and you let him in on one condition: follow the rules of the house. The good neighbor learns the language, helps with the dishes, and by the second Thanksgiving he is family. That is Ruth in the Old Testament: “Your people shall be my people, and your God my God.” She did not ask Bethlehem to start speaking Moabite. She picked up a basket and went to work in the barley field.

Then there is the other neighbor. He comes in the front door, sits in your chair, rewrites the rules, and calls you a bigot for noticing.

Hold on to that house. Everything in this article is about the difference between those two neighbors, and about a political movement that has spent a century writing instruction manuals for the second one.

To understand the manual, you have to understand the man it claims to copy. And here is where most Americans get lost, because there is not one Muhammad in the story.

There are three.

— THE THREE FACES OF MUHAMMAD —

Radio host Michael DelGiorno puts it this way, and I am going to state his version fairly before I grade it: there are three examples of Muhammad. The first is peaceful. The second is political and patient. The third is the warrior who conquers, kills, or converts. And there are Muslims today following each one, and, in his words, you do not know which one you have until they act.

Let me walk you through the three, using the sources Muslims themselves consider authoritative: the Quran, the Sira (the earliest biography, Ibn Ishaq as edited by Ibn Hisham), and the Hadith (the collected sayings, with Bukhari and Muslim at the top of the trust list). Then I will tell you where the popular version is right and where it overreaches, because I am a science teacher, and I do not let my own side skip the lab report either.

There are actually two ways to count to three here, and you need both.

The radio count is DelGiorno’s: the peaceful preacher, the patient politician, the warrior. That count describes what Muhammad DID.

The lawyer’s count comes from Bill Warner of the Center for the Study of Political Islam, and it is the one that matters more, because it describes what Muslims are told to COPY. Warner’s three are the Meccan Muhammad, the Medinan Muhammad, and a third one most Americans have never heard of: the Sunna Muhammad. The legal copy. The frozen template. I will get to him, and when I do, you will understand why the first two are not ancient history.

Face one first.

FACE ONE: THE PREACHER OF MECCA (about 610 to 622 AD)

Around the year 610, in a cave on Mount Hira outside Mecca, Muhammad reports his first revelation. For about thirteen years he preaches in a city that can hurt him and frequently does. The message: one God, reject the idols, judgment is coming, care for the orphan and the poor.

The Quran from this period sounds like something you could read at an interfaith breakfast:

“You have your religion, and I have mine.” (Quran 109:6) “Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in the way that is best.” (Quran 16:125) “Repel evil with what is better.” (Quran 41:34)

His followers are pressured, boycotted, and some of the weakest, like the slave Bilal, are tortured. A group flees to Christian Abyssinia, where a Christian king shelters them. There is no army. There is no battlefield jihad. Even the word jihad in this period means striving, struggle, argument.

And by Bill Warner’s count from the Sira, after roughly thirteen years of preaching, Muhammad has somewhere around 150 followers.

One hundred fifty. In thirteen years. That is about eleven converts a year. My Physics club recruits better than that, and we meet during lunch.

This is the Muhammad your co-worker is thinking of when he tells you Islam is a religion of peace. And for millions of Muslims who pray, fast, raise their kids, and never hurt a soul, this is honestly the Muhammad they follow. My friends included.

FACE TWO: THE STATESMAN OF MEDINA (622 to about 628 AD)

In 622, Muhammad and his followers leave Mecca for the city of Yathrib, later called Medina. This move is the Hijra. It is so important that the Islamic calendar starts counting from it. Not from his birth. Not from the first revelation. From the moment he became a political leader.

Think about that. The calendar does not start with the prophet. It starts with the state.

Medina was a city torn apart by feuding tribes, and Muhammad was invited in as an outside arbiter. Within months he produces a written charter, the Constitution of Medina. Its opening line declares the believers “one community (umma) to the exclusion of all other people.” The Jewish tribes of the city are included as allied communities. Disputes go to “God and Muhammad.”

Notice what just happened. The preacher became the judge. The judge becomes the lawgiver. And very soon, the lawgiver becomes the commander.

Permission to fight arrives in the revelations (Quran 22:39-40, 2:190-193). Raids on Meccan trade caravans begin. In 624 comes the Battle of Badr, a victory the Quran treats as divine confirmation. Then Uhud. Then the Battle of the Trench.

And then the Jewish tribes. One by one. The Banu Qaynuqa are expelled in 624. The Banu Nadir are expelled in 625 or 626. And the Banu Qurayza, accused of treason during the siege of Medina in 627, surrender, and, according to Ibn Ishaq, the men are beheaded in trenches dug in the Medina marketplace. Between 600 and 900 men, depending on which early source you read. The women and children are divided as captives.

That is not an anti-Muslim smear. That is in the Muslim biography of the Muslim prophet. Page references included.

FACE TWO, FULLY GROWN: THE CONQUEROR OF ARABIA (628 to 632 AD). ON THE RADIO, THIS IS THE THIRD FACE, THE WARRIOR

In 628, Muhammad signs the Treaty of Hudaybiyya with Mecca: a ten-year truce. Within two years it collapses. (In fairness, the Muslim sources say the Meccan side’s allies broke it first. I will give them that.) In 630, Muhammad marches on Mecca with an army of about 10,000, and the city surrenders. The idols in the Kaaba are smashed.

Then come the campaigns of Hunayn, Taif, and Tabuk, and the revelation of the ninth chapter of the Quran, Surat al-Tawba, one of the last major chapters revealed. Here is the famous “sword verse”:

“Then when the sacred months have passed, kill the polytheists wherever you find them, and capture them and besiege them, and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they repent, establish prayer, and give zakat, let them go on their way.” (Quran 9:5)

And here is the verse that sets the rules for Jews and Christians:

“Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day… from among those who were given the Scripture, until they give the jizya willingly while they are humbled.” (Quran 9:29)

The jizya is a tax paid by non-Muslims living under Islamic rule. “Humbled” is the translation you will see most often. Some translators use “subdued” or “brought low.” The status that comes with it is called dhimmi: protected, allowed to worship, and permanently second-class.

And from Bukhari, the most trusted hadith collection in Sunni Islam:

“I have been ordered to fight the people until they testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 25; see also 2946)

Muhammad dies in 632 as the master of the Arabian Peninsula. By Warner’s count, the movement that had 150 followers after thirteen years of preaching had grown to around 100,000 after about ten years of politics and war. Warner also calculates that there was a violent event, a raid, battle, or assassination, on average about every six weeks in the Medina years.

Draw the graph. I did. Thirteen years of preaching: a line so flat you could land a plane on it. Ten years of politics and the sword: a hockey stick.

When the tribes of Arabia tried to walk away after his death, his successor Abu Bakr fought the Ridda Wars, the “wars of apostasy,” to drag them back. Leaving was not an option then. In a large number of countries, it still is not an option now. I will come back to that.

WHY THIS MATTERS: WHICH MUHAMMAD WINS?

So here is the question every American should be asking, and almost nobody is.

If the same book contains “you have your religion and I have mine” AND “kill the polytheists wherever you find them,” which one wins?

Islamic law has an answer, and it has a name: naskh. Abrogation. The Quran itself says, “We do not abrogate a verse or cause it to be forgotten except that We bring forth one better than it or similar to it.” (Quran 2:106) Classical scholars used this principle to rule that, when verses conflict, the later revelation generally governs the earlier one. And the Medina verses came later. Surat al-Tawba came very late.

In classroom terms: if the teacher gives you two instructions and the second one contradicts the first, you follow the second. The first one is not erased from the syllabus. It just is not the rule anymore.

Now, honesty time, because I promised.

Muslim scholars have argued about the scope of abrogation for over a thousand years. Many modern Muslims reject the maximal version and say the war verses were tied to specific seventh-century enemies. Some classical jurists, particularly in the Hanafi school, held that unbelief by itself was not a reason for war. That argument is real, and it is happening inside the Muslim world right now, often at great personal risk to the Muslims making the peaceful case.

And the “three personalities” idea is a teaching metaphor. The Islamic tradition itself divides Muhammad’s life into TWO periods, Mecca and Medina. The popular “patient political” middle stage, arrive quietly, grow, organize, then push, is not really in the seventh-century biography. It is the playbook of a twentieth-century movement that read Medina as a curriculum.

So the correct scientific statement is this. The founding sources contain two very different models: the persecuted preacher and the ruler-commander. The ruler-commander came later and, under classical rules, carries the heavier legal weight. Militant movements pick that one on purpose. Millions of ordinary Muslims live by the first one and would not hurt a fly. And you cannot read a man’s heart by looking at his beard.

Which is exactly why you judge MOVEMENTS by what they write, fund, and do, and judge PEOPLE by what they say and do. Not the other way around.

— THE FACE BEHIND THE FACES: THE SUNNA MUHAMMAD —

Here is the part nobody explains on cable news, and it is the most important thing in this entire article. Read it twice.

A Christian is told to imitate Christ. A Christ who, when Peter drew a sword to defend him, told Peter to put it away (Matthew 26:52), and then went to a cross without raising a hand. Whatever Christians have done in history, and some of it was ugly, the model at the center of the faith died without commanding an army.

A Muslim is told to imitate Muhammad. The Quran says it plainly: “You have in the Messenger of Allah an excellent example” (Quran 33:21). And “Whoever obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah” (Quran 4:80). Muhammad’s words and deeds, recorded in the Sira and the Hadith, are called the Sunna, the “way” or “path.” Classical Islamic law treats the Sunna as binding. It is not a biography you admire. It is a pattern you follow.

But which Muhammad do you follow? The preacher who said “you have your religion and I have mine”? Or the ruler who divided the captives after Qurayza?

Islamic law did not leave that to your mood. The jurists built the Sunna Muhammad: a single, finished model assembled from the whole life, with the later Medinan rulings carrying the heavier legal weight. That model got frozen into law manuals that are still taught today. That is face number three in Warner’s count. Not a third chapter of the biography. The legal clone of the finished man.

RELIANCE OF THE TRAVELLER

Reliance of the Traveller (Umdat al-Salik) is a classical manual of the Shafi’i school of Sunni law, written in the 1300s. The English edition, translated by Nuh Ha Mim Keller, carries a certification from Al-Azhar in Cairo, the most prestigious institution in Sunni Islam. This is not an ISIS pamphlet. This is a law book.

Section o9.0: “Jihad means to war against non-Muslims.”

Not “inner struggle.” Not “self-improvement.” War.

Section o9.8 says the caliph makes war on Jews, Christians, and Zoroastrians until they become Muslim or pay the jizya.

Section o9.9 says the caliph fights all other peoples until they become Muslim.

And o9.16 says truces are allowed, but not merely to preserve the status quo. The default direction of history in that manual is expansion.

Now, honesty. Because I promised you honesty, and because the other side will look for any crack.

The four Sunni schools of law do not agree on WHY you fight. The Hanafi, Maliki, and Hanbali majority generally say war is justified by aggression or persecution, not by unbelief alone. The famous Hanafi jurist al-Sarakhsi wrote that unbelief is a matter between a man and God. Even Ibn Taymiyya, the medieval scholar every jihadist quotes, wrote a treatise arguing you fight those who fight you, not unbelievers merely for being unbelievers. The Shafi’i school, the one Reliance comes from, is the one that says unbelief itself is enough. And there is no caliph today, and most Muslim-majority countries signed the UN Charter.

But look at what even the “moderate” side of the classical argument agreed on. The world was divided into Dar al-Islam, the House of Islam, where Islamic law rules, and Dar al-Harb, the House of War, everywhere else. Some jurists added a third category for treaty lands. Jihad was a communal obligation: as long as enough men were doing it, the rest were excused. And the conquered Jews and Christians lived as dhimmis: allowed to worship, forbidden to build new churches in many rulings, forbidden to carry weapons, taxed, and legally second-class.

That was the “tolerant” option. The alternative was worse.

That is classical Islamic law. Not a fringe. The mainstream, as it stood for a thousand years. Jihadist groups did not invent a new religion. They opened the old law books to the chapters on war and declared the pause over.

WHAT THE CLONE SAYS ABOUT MARRIAGE

Sahih al-Bukhari, the most trusted collection in Sunni Islam, records that Muhammad married Aisha when she was six and consummated the marriage when she was nine (Bukhari 5133; also Sahih Muslim 1422). Classical scholars treated that report as settled. Some modern Muslim writers argue she was older, and that is a real minority argument. It is not the classical consensus.

Why does a 1,400-year-old marriage matter in 2026? Because the Sunna Muhammad is the model.

After 1979, Iran dropped the legal marriage age for girls back to the classical standard of nine lunar years.

It was later raised to thirteen, with a father and a judge able to approve younger.

Yemen, Taliban Afghanistan, and Sudan have no firm minimum.

The practice is not a museum piece. It is still legal or socially accepted in places that apply the old model.

WHAT THE CLONE SAYS ABOUT CAPTIVES

The Quran refers to “those whom your right hands possess” (ma malakat aymanukum), and permits sexual relations with them (Quran 4:24, 23:5-6). Classical law in all four Sunni schools allowed a man to have sex with a female captive taken in war, once she had been formally distributed as property and after a waiting period to confirm she was not pregnant. Modern Muslim states abolished slavery and most scholars today treat the institution as closed. But the classical texts never formally abrogated it. They treated it as part of the law of war.

Which is exactly why, in August 2014, when ISIS overran Sinjar in northern Iraq, it enslaved thousands of Yazidi women and girls and published a pamphlet, in question-and-answer format, explaining the “rules” for owning and r@ping them, complete with citations. The women were sold in markets.

Some were children!

ISIS did not follow every classical restriction. It broke plenty of them. But it did not have to invent the category. It found it in the books.

WHAT THE CLONE SAYS ABOUT LEAVING

“Whoever changes his religion, kill him.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 6922)

The majority classical view: an adult male apostate is asked to repent, usually for three days, and if he refuses, he is executed. And here is a detail that will make you put your coffee down. The Hanafi school, the largest of the four and usually considered the most lenient, does NOT execute women who leave Islam. Instead, the female apostate is imprisoned until she comes back to Islam or dies. Al-Sarakhsi’s Mabsut, one of the great Hanafi texts, describes bringing her out periodically and flogging her, then returning her to the cell until she repents.

That is the lenient school.

The reasoning is fascinating, in a horror-movie way. The Hanafis say they execute the male apostate not for his unbelief, which God will judge, but because a man who defects is a potential combatant against the Muslim state. In other words, leaving Islam is treated like treason. Like deserting an army.

Which tells you exactly what the Sunna Muhammad’s religion is, in its own legal self-understanding. It is not just a faith. It is a state, with an army, and you do not get to resign.

WARNER’S THREE VIEWPOINTS

Warner adds one more set of three that clears up most Thanksgiving-dinner arguments. Every event in Muhammad’s life, whether Badr, Qurayza, Aisha at nine, or Quran 9:29, can be seen from three viewpoints:

The believer: sacred, perfect, to be copied.

The kafir, the non-Muslim: political conquest doctrine that still has consequences for people like me.

The dhimmi, the apologist: “That’s ancient history, every culture was violent back then, who are we to judge?”

Your cousin with the coexist bumper sticker is the third one. He thinks he is being open-minded. He is being a dhimmi without the tax bill…

Yet.

Warner’s point is that these views cannot be blended, because inside the religion the Sunna is not filed under “history.” It is filed under “instructions.”

SO WHICH FACE IS YOUR NEIGHBOR?

Now put it together.

My friends, the soldier and the interpreter, live by face one. They pray, they fast, they work, they would take a bullet for me, and one of them nearly did. Millions upon millions of Muslims are like them.

The Muslim Brotherhood studies face two. The patient politician. Organize, build, persuade, wait.

ISIS, al-Qaeda, Hamas, and the Taliban wear face two’s armor and swing face two’s sword, the conqueror of Arabia, and they justify every act by pointing at face three, the frozen legal model, chapter and verse.

And the entire fight inside the Muslim world today, the fight that reformers risk their lives in, is over one question: does face three still get a vote?

The reformers say no. The jihadists say yes. And the American left, which has never read any of this, keeps handing the microphone to the second group and calling the first group “Islamophobes.”

Remember this question. Which face? I am going to ask it again. A lot.

Now let us look at what the movements wrote. Because they wrote a lot.

— THE PLAYBOOK. THEY WROTE IT DOWN —

I do not do conspiracy theories. I do primary sources. My students hate this about me.

HASAN AL-BANNA AND THE SEVEN STEPS (Egypt, 1928)

In 1928, a schoolteacher in Egypt named Hasan al-Banna founded the Society of the Muslim Brothers, the Muslim Brotherhood. He described it as a religious call, a political organization, an athletic club, a scientific society, an economic company, and a social idea, all at once. Translation: occupy every part of life so that the politics does not look like politics until it is too late.

He also laid out stages. The long version goes like this:

1. Reform the individual.
2. Build the Muslim family.
3. Guide society.
4. Liberate the homeland from foreign rule.
5. Reform the government so that it is Islamic.
6. Restore an international Islamic entity, a caliphate.
7. Ustadhiyyat al-alam: “mastership” or “tutelage” of the world.

Step seven. The world.

His defenders say that is teaching and preaching, not tanks. Fine. But steps five and six are the capture of governments, and step seven sits on top of them. When somebody hands you a seven-step plan and step six is “rebuild the caliphate,” you are allowed to read step six.

That, not the seventh-century biography, is the real source of the “patient political Muhammad.” First the man. Then the family. Then the street. Then the palace. Then the world.

SAYYID QUTB: THE VANGUARD (Egypt, 1964)

Sayyid Qutb, the Brotherhood’s most influential thinker, wrote a book in Nasser’s prisons called Milestones. His argument: even existing Muslim societies had fallen back into jahiliyya, pre-Islamic ignorance, because they were ruled by human law instead of God’s. The answer was a dedicated vanguard that would restore God’s sovereignty, hakimiyya, and abolish rule by man. Egypt hanged him in 1966. His book outlived him and became something close to a field manual. Osama bin Laden’s circle read it. Al-Qaeda’s number two, Ayman al-Zawahiri, openly credited him.

Abul Ala Mawdudi in Pakistan made the same argument in different language: Islam is a complete system, and any government that legislates independently of revelation is a form of rebellion against God.

YUSUF AL-QARADAWI: THE PATIENT VERSION (Qatar, died 2022)

Then there is Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the Brotherhood’s most famous scholar, a star on Al Jazeera for decades. He condemned al-Qaeda’s war on the West in general terms. He also defended Palestinian suicide bombings. And he helped build a whole field of law for Muslims living as minorities in the West. Scholars who study that literature, like Uriya Shavit, point out that both the “moderate” and Salafi versions justify living in the West partly as a means of dawa, preaching, that could contribute to the eventual Islamization of those societies.

Qaradawi was quoted more than once predicting that Islam would return to Europe and conquer Rome, not by the sword this time, but by preaching.

Not by the sword. By preaching. By being here. By waiting.

That is not a sleeper cell with a pressure cooker. That is something harder to fight, because it is legal.

THE 1991 MEMO, FEDERAL EXHIBIT 003-0085

In 1991, a Muslim Brotherhood figure named Mohamed Akram wrote an internal document for the Brotherhood’s North American leadership: “An Explanatory Memorandum on the General Strategic Goal for the Group in North America.”

The FBI found it in 2004 in a house in Annandale, Virginia. It was entered as evidence in United States v. Holy Land Foundation, the largest terrorism-financing prosecution in American history. The Holy Land Foundation and its leaders were convicted in 2008 of funneling money to Hamas.

Here is how the memo describes the Brotherhood’s mission in America: a kind of “grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within” and “sabotaging” its “miserable house” by their own hands and the hands of the believers.

Miserable house. I told you this whole article was about a house.

The memo includes a list titled, in effect, “our organizations and the organizations of our friends,” naming many prominent American Muslim groups. In the same trial, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) was named on a list of unindicted co-conspirators. CAIR was never charged with anything, denies any ties to Hamas, and has spent years objecting to that label. I want that on the record, because accuracy is the whole point of this classroom.

Now, fairness again. Scholars argue about whether that memo was ever adopted as official policy or was one ambitious man’s wish list. Georgetown’s Bridge Initiative calls the “master plan” reading an exaggeration. Fine. Argue it.

But notice what the argument is about. Nobody disputes that the memo says what it says. The debate is whether the people who wrote “destroy Western civilization from within” meant it.

I teach teenagers. When a kid writes a detailed plan in his notebook to burn down the school, we do not hold a faculty seminar on whether it was “aspirational.”

— THE LYING QUESTION: TAQIYYA AND “WAR IS DECEIT” —

Somebody on my side is about to say “they are allowed to lie to us, it’s called taqiyya, so nothing they say counts.” I have to slow that down, because overclaiming is how you lose an argument you should win.

Here is what the texts actually say. Lying is normally a major sin in Islam. A well-known hadith (Sahih Muslim 2605) lists three exceptions: in war, to reconcile two people who are fighting, and between husband and wife to keep the peace. “War is deceit” is a real saying of Muhammad (Sahih al-Bukhari 3030). Taqiyya, concealing your faith under threat of death or serious harm, comes from Quran 16:106 and 3:28, and it developed mostly among Shia Muslims living under hostile Sunni rulers.

And there is one famous case. When Muhammad wanted Ka’b ibn al-Ashraf, a Jewish poet who opposed him, killed, one of his companions asked permission to say whatever he needed to say to get close to Ka’b. Muhammad allowed it. Ka’b was lured out at night and killed (Sahih al-Bukhari 4037). That is face two, the war leader, and that is deception in the service of war.

What it does NOT mean: that every Muslim may lie to every non-Muslim in business, friendship, or daily life. Most Sunni scholars say the default is truthfulness, and many say even in the permitted cases you should use technically-true ambiguous wording rather than a flat lie.

So here is the precise statement. Which face?

For your neighbor living by face one, lying to you is a sin, the same as it is for me.

For a movement that believes it is at war with you, face two’s war exception is in play, and the movement decides when it is at war.

That is the danger. Not your neighbor. The movement that has declared a war you have not noticed yet. The 1991 memo called its work in America a “grand Jihad.” If they are using the word jihad, you are allowed to assume they know which rules apply.

— THE MATH SAYS THEY CANNOT WIN. THAT IS THE SCARY PART —

Here is where I lose half my own side, so buckle up.

Pew Research Center, September 2026: about 5.5 million Muslims of all ages in the United States, up from 2.4 million in 2007. Muslim adults are roughly 1 percent of American adults. Mosques went from about 1,200 in 2000 to about 2,800 in 2020.

That is real growth. It is also nowhere near 330 million.

Nobody is raising a crescent flag over the Capitol by census. If “Islam takes America” means a caliph in the Oval Office next Tuesday, it is not happening, and anybody who tells you otherwise is selling a DVD and a survival bucket.

So why am I writing a book-length article about it?

Because they do not NEED the numbers.

The new DailyWire+ film Run Hide Fight: Infidels has a line, delivered by a retired Delta operator to a lecture hall full of students, that sums up the argument better than I could: there are three ways Islam will conquer the West. Through immigration, through the wombs of our women, and by using our nation’s freedoms against us.

Let me grade those three like a lab report.

VECTOR ONE: IMMIGRATION. Real at the city level when intake is large and nobody screens for ideology. Most immigrants from Muslim countries come here for the same reasons my ancestors did: jobs, safety, and kids who do not get shot walking to school. I will not pretend otherwise. But a small number arrive with a mission, and we mostly refuse to ask.

VECTOR TWO: BIRTH RATES. Real as age structure. Muslim Americans are younger than average, and more of them are in their childbearing years. But immigrant birth rates converge downward within a couple of generations. That happened with the Irish. It happened with the Italians. It is not a scimitar. By itself, it is a demographics chart.

VECTOR THREE: USING OUR FREEDOMS AGAINST US. This is the one that matters. It does not need a single birth. It does not need a single border crossing. It needs lawyers, school boards, HR departments, college administrators, nervous newsrooms, and a political party willing to call anybody who notices a bigot.

And lo and behold, we have one of those.

But before I introduce the doormen, let me take you on a world tour. Because we are not the first house on the street this happened to. We are late. Other countries already ran the experiment, and the results are in.

Good.

Women in skirts on Tehran streets. Men and women studying side by side at universities. Nightclubs. Rock music. That was a real country, and it was not paradise. The Shah was an autocrat. His secret police, SAVAK, tortured people. The 1953 coup that the CIA and British intelligence helped engineer against Prime Minister Mossadegh was real, and it poisoned Iranian politics for a generation. I teach the whole lesson, not the half I like.

But here is what Iran was building. In 1963, the Shah’s White Revolution gave women the right to vote and run for office. The Family Protection Laws of 1967 and 1975 raised the marriage age, moved divorce into the courts, restricted polygamy, and gave women ground on child custody. By 1978, women held 22 seats in the Iranian parliament, sat on local councils, and served as judges.

Who hated that more than anybody?

A cleric named Ruhollah Khomeini. He denounced women’s suffrage in 1963 as an attack on Islam. He was arrested, then exiled to Turkey and then Iraq, where in 1970 he gave a set of lectures later published as Islamic Government, Velayat-e Faqih. The idea: in the absence of the Hidden Imam, an Islamic jurist should rule the state.

Now watch the sequence, because the American left is going to star in the remake.

In 1978, the revolution against the Shah was a COALITION.

Liberals wanted a constitution. Marxists and communists wanted a workers’ state. Students wanted freedom.

The merchants of the bazaar wanted the government off their backs.

The clergy wanted the White Revolution reversed.

Khomeini, in exile in France, became the face all of them could project onto. He did not campaign on Velayat-e Faqih. He did not hand out copies. The coalition thought it was hiring a symbol.

It hired a sovereign.

The Shah left in January 1979. Khomeini returned on February 1. On March 30 and 31, Iranians voted in a referendum with exactly one question: Islamic Republic, yes or no. No “democratic republic” option. No “other” box. Yes or no.

Then came the part nobody in the coalition read in advance.

The Family Protection Law was scrapped.

The legal marriage age for girls dropped back to the classical standard of nine lunar years.

Hijab became mandatory. Universities were shut for a “Cultural Revolution.”

A parallel army, the Revolutionary Guard, was created.

The American embassy was seized in November 1979, and 52 Americans were held for 444 days.

And the leftists who helped make the revolution?

By 1983, the Tudeh Party, Iran’s communists, was banned, and its leaders were paraded on state television making “confessions.” The Marxist guerrillas were hunted down.

In the summer of 1988, the regime carried out a wave of executions of political prisoners, many of them leftists.

Amnesty International puts the death toll at around 5,000 at minimum. Others put it far higher. They were hanged in batches and buried in unmarked graves.

The revolution ate its useful idiots. It always does.

And there is a detail from those prisons I need to put in front of you, even though I would rather not.

Multiple investigations, including the 2012 report by the human rights group Justice for Iran and testimony from survivors, found that some young female political prisoners who were virgins were forced into a one-night “temporary marriage” with a guard and r@ped the night before their execution.

The twisted rationale: a virgin who dies was believed to go to paradise, and the regime did not want these “enemies of God” to get there. Grand Ayatollah Montazeri, once Khomeini’s designated successor, later wrote that his instruction not to execute young women had been perverted into “marry them first, then kill them.” Montazeri was removed as successor after he protested the 1988 executions.

That is not a verse you can open the Quran to. It is what a regime that believes it owns God’s law does when nobody can stop it. Which face? Face two with a state and a prison system, and a guard who thought he was doing something holy.

Maurice Ogden wrote a poem in 1951 called “The Hangman.” A hangman comes to a quiet town and builds a gallows on the courthouse square. He takes a man who came from another land, and the townspeople breathe easier, because it was not them. Then he takes the next, and the next, and every time, the town stays quiet out of fear, and every time, the gallows grows. I will come back to that poem. The Iranian left of 1979 lived it, line by line.

And now? In September 2022, a 22-year-old Kurdish woman named Mahsa Amini was arrested by the “morality police” for wearing her hijab improperly. She died in custody. The protests that followed, under the slogan “Woman, Life, Freedom,” spread across the entire country and were met with bullets, blinding shotgun pellets, torture, and executions. Doctors, engineers, and women who will not live under the Guidance Patrol leave the country whenever they can.

And here is the sentence I need every reader to hold onto: the women in the streets of Iran fighting the regime are Muslims. The fight inside Iran is proof that “Muslim” is not a battalion. It is also proof that a state which writes Muhammad’s law into its criminal code will spend the next fifty years at war with its own daughters.

— AFGHANISTAN, THE SUNNI VERSION —

Afghanistan is Iran without the oil and with a Sunni seminary network instead of a Shia one.

The Taliban took Kabul in 1996. They banned girls from school, banned music, dynamited the giant Buddhas of Bamiyan, and hosted Osama bin Laden while he planned September 11th. Twenty years of American and NATO effort later, in August 2021, they walked right back in.

Since then: girls banned from school past the sixth grade. Women banned from universities. Banned from most jobs. Banned from parks and gyms. A “vice and virtue” law that, among other things, restricts women’s voices from being heard in public.

Their voices. In public.

Which face? The conqueror, now running ministries, enforcing the frozen template with a clipboard and a whip.

I served in that part of the world. I have seen what it looks like when a political theology decides that a girl reading a book is a threat to God. It is not an abstraction to me. It has faces.

— MUSLIM-MAJORITY COUNTRIES THAT DID NOT BECOME IRAN, AND STILL BLEED —

Not every country falls all the way. Some just bleed.

PAKISTAN. Pakistan’s founding documents put sovereignty with Allah. In the 1980s, the dictator Zia-ul-Haq Islamized the penal code, including blasphemy laws that now work as a weapon for any mob with a grudge. In 2010, Asia Bibi, a Christian farmworker, was sentenced to death over an argument about a cup of water. When Punjab’s governor, Salmaan Taseer, a Muslim, publicly defended her, his own bodyguard shot him dead in 2011. When the killer was executed in 2016, huge crowds turned out for his funeral, and a shrine was built in his honor. Pakistan’s Supreme Court finally acquitted Asia Bibi in 2018 after eight years on death row, and mobs filled the streets demanding she hang anyway. She had to leave the country.

A Muslim governor was murdered for defending a Christian woman, and his murderer got a shrine. Let that settle in.

NIGERIA. In April 2014, Boko Haram kidnapped 276 schoolgirls from their dormitory in Chibok. The group’s name roughly translates as “Western education is forbidden.” Across Nigeria and the Sahel region of Africa, jihadist groups have burned villages, massacred Christians and Muslims alike, and taken over whole provinces in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger.

EGYPT. In 2012, the Muslim Brotherhood’s Mohamed Morsi won the presidency. Within a year, he had issued a decree putting himself above judicial review, and millions of Egyptians were in the streets against him. After the military removed him in 2013, mobs attacked dozens of Coptic Christian churches in a matter of days. Burned. Looted.

LEBANON. A country that used to be called the Switzerland of the Middle East now contains a state within a state, Hezbollah, an Iranian-funded militia with more missiles than the national army, and a veto over the government.

Here is the pattern. When political Islam gets power, the minorities suffer first, the women suffer second, and eventually, everybody suffers. Including, and especially, other Muslims. The biggest body count of modern jihadist violence is Muslims killed by other Muslims. Algeria. Iraq. Syria. Yemen. That is not a talking point. It is the casualty record.

— THE WARRIOR FACE HAS A SLOGAN: “WE LOVE DEATH” —

In the movie, the retired Delta officer says of the jihadists: they desire death as ardently as we desire life. That sounds like screenwriting. It is not. It is a quote with a 1,400-year pedigree.

According to the historian al-Tabari, Khalid ibn al-Walid, the Muslim general known as the “Sword of Allah,” wrote to a Persian commander during the early conquests that he was coming with men who love death as the Persians love life. Face two, the conqueror’s army, in its own words.

Fast forward. Osama bin Laden used the line. Hamas leaders have repeated versions of it for decades. Hezbollah’s Hassan Nasrallah used it. Hamas military commander Muhammad Deif and political leader Ismail Haniyeh both made the same point. It is not a Western smear of their worldview. It is their slogan. They keep saying it into microphones.

Think about what that does to every assumption in our foreign policy. Deterrence works on people who want to live. Mutually assured destruction works on people who fear being destroyed. What do you threaten a man with when his stated goal is to die while killing you?

RAMADAN

There is a well-known hadith: when Ramadan comes, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are closed (Sahih al-Bukhari 1899). Good deeds are multiplied. For the vast majority of Muslims, that means a month of fasting, prayer, charity, and big family dinners after sunset. My soldier friend’s “Ramadan Kareem” means “generous Ramadan.” That is face one.

Jihadist groups read the same hadith and concluded that killing during Ramadan earns multiplied reward. In May 2016, ISIS’s spokesman publicly called on followers to make Ramadan a month of attacks on the West. That summer brought the Orlando nightclub massacre, where 49 people were murdered, most of them gay, and a wave of attacks from Istanbul to Dhaka to Baghdad.

In Iraq, when Ramadan came, we tightened our chin straps. For us, it was sniper season. The insurgents treated the holy month as prime time, and we treated every rooftop like it had a rifle on it, because often enough, it did. The same month my friend spends feeding his neighbors, men wearing face two were zeroing their scopes on my friends.

Same month. Same hadith. Different face.

HONOR KILLING: NOT A FACE AT ALL

I told you about the girls in Iraq and the families that kill daughters over “honor.” I need to be precise about this one, because precision is what makes the rest of this bulletproof.

Honor killing is older than Islam. It exists in some Hindu, Sikh, Christian, and tribal communities too. Classical Islamic law does not tell a father to kill his daughter over a look. Punishment for proven adultery requires four witnesses or a confession and is supposed to be carried out by the state, not by a brother with a knife. Many Muslim scholars have condemned honor killing as plain murder.

And yet. The United Nations has estimated about 5,000 honor killings a year worldwide, and nobody who works on this thinks that number is high. A large share happen in Muslim-majority societies and diaspora communities, and the killers very often wrap the act in religious language. I watched fathers in Iraq who were absolutely certain God was on their side.

So which face? None of the three. This is the tribe, borrowing God’s name. But here is the point for the American left: when you refuse to criticize “the culture” because criticizing it might make you sound like me, the girl pays for your politeness. Every time. Rotherham proved it. Iraq proved it. The only thing that protects that girl is a state with one law for everybody and the nerve to enforce it.

— EUROPE. THE PREVIEW OF OUR COMING ATTRACTIONS —

Now to the countries that look most like us. Western democracies. Free speech. Welfare states. Open doors. They ran the experiment twenty or thirty years ahead of us.

THE UNITED KINGDOM

Muslims are roughly six to seven percent of Britain’s population, several times the American share, and heavily concentrated in certain cities: Birmingham, Bradford, parts of London, Oldham, Rochdale, Rotherham.

And in Rotherham, Rochdale, Telford, Oxford, and dozens of other towns, organized grooming gangs r@ped working-class girls, many of them white, many of them twelve and thirteen years old, for years. The 2014 Jay report on Rotherham alone estimated roughly 1,400 victims between 1997 and 2013. The perpetrators in the convicted networks were overwhelmingly men of Pakistani heritage.

And the police looked away. Social workers looked away. Councils looked away. Why? The Jay report itself described staff who were nervous about identifying the ethnic origin of the perpetrators for fear of being thought racist.

Read that sentence again. They were more afraid of the word “racist” than of the r@pes.

Better a ruined girl than a ruined press conference.

It took until 2025 for the British government to put ethnicity, religion, and culture into the terms of a national inquiry. Victims have testified that some of the men talked about “non-believers” as fair game. Some Sikh communities organized their own men to protect Sikh girls and forced the gangs off them. The British state did not do the same for the white girls next door.

To be fair, and I am always fair, in the summer of 2024, after three little girls were murdered at a dance class in Southport, online rumors falsely claimed the killer was a Muslim asylum seeker. He was not. Riots followed, and mosques were attacked. That was wrong too. Lies cut in every direction. Both victim files are real. Neither one cancels the other.

Quinn’s Law #11: “Profiling is what groups call bigotry when they have a problem they don’t want to talk about.” Britain did not want to talk about it. So it did not. For about fifteen years. And the girls paid the bill.

FRANCE

France has the largest Muslim population in Western Europe. It also has a terrorism record since 2015 that should be required reading.

January 2015: gunmen murdered 12 people at the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo over cartoons of Muhammad. Days later, four Jewish hostages were murdered at a kosher supermarket. November 2015: coordinated attacks on the Bataclan concert hall, cafes, and the national stadium killed 130 people. July 2016: a truck driven into the Bastille Day crowd in Nice killed 86. October 2020: history teacher Samuel Paty was beheaded outside his school for showing Muhammad cartoons in a lesson on free speech. October 2023: teacher Dominique Bernard was stabbed to death at his school in Arras.

Two teachers. Murdered. For teaching.

I am a teacher. I think about Samuel Paty more than I would like to admit.

And here is what France did about it, which will shock the American left: France FOUGHT BACK, legally. A 2021 “separatism” law requires associations to sign on to republican principles. The government has shut mosques whose preaching glorified jihad and martyrdom. In 2025 it dissolved the European Institute of Human Sciences, which the interior ministry tied to the Muslim Brotherhood and which had trained hundreds of imams. A French government report in May 2025 warned openly about Brotherhood “entryism,” slowly working its way into local institutions.

France, the land of liberte, egalite, and croissants, is padlocking pulpits that preach war. Because France remembered that a republic is allowed to have rules.

GERMANY

Germany took in over a million asylum seekers in 2015 and 2016. Most came fleeing real war. Some did not come in peace.

May 2024, Mannheim: an Afghan man stabbed six people at an anti-Islam rally. Police officer Rouven Laur died of his wounds. August 2024, Solingen: a Syrian asylum seeker stabbed people at a city festival celebrating diversity. Three dead. ISIS claimed it.

Germany’s response: controls on all nine of its land borders, and deportations of convicted Afghan offenders back to Afghanistan, which means doing business with the Taliban. Germany, which spent a decade lecturing everybody about “Wir schaffen das” (”we can do this”), is now quietly flying people out.

SWEDEN

Sweden was the humanitarian superpower. The country that took in more asylum seekers per capita than almost anyone.

Swedish police now keep an official list of “vulnerable areas,” neighborhoods with high crime and parallel structures where the state struggles to function. There were 53 in 2015. By 2025 there were 65, with 19 classified as “especially vulnerable.” Grenade attacks and gang shootings became regular news in a country that used to be the world’s poster child for peace.

And Sweden changed its mind. Asylum numbers were driven toward a forty-year low. The government pays people to leave voluntarily. Sweden’s own justice minister has admitted the country was naive about Islamism.

The most progressive country on Earth looked at its results and changed course. Our progressives are still trying to copy the Sweden of 2015.

DENMARK

And now, my favorite example, because it drives the American left absolutely bonkers.

Denmark. Social Democrats. Left-wing. Welfare state. The place Bernie Sanders points to when he wants to explain socialism.

Denmark passed a law in 2018 targeting what it officially called “parallel societies”: neighborhoods with low employment, low education, high crime, and a majority of residents from non-Western backgrounds. The tools include changing who can move in, extra policing, and even tearing down or selling public housing to break up concentrated enclaves. The Social Democrats have kept it in place. Denmark already has some of the toughest asylum and family-reunification rules in Europe, and in 2026 its immigration minister moved yet again to ban the public broadcast of the call to prayer, saying Danes should not wonder whether they had ended up in a suburb of Islamabad.

The Danish LEFT did that.

So next time your progressive cousin tells you we should be more like Denmark, say “Great! Let’s start with their immigration policy.” Then watch the hamster fall off the wheel.

AUSTRALIA

Australia is not Europe. It has an ocean and a points-based immigration system. And it still found out the hard way. After the Bondi attack in late 2025, the Australian government promised to fast-track the cancellation of visas for hate preachers, naming Islamist and neo-Nazi preachers in the same breath so the policy would hold up in court. Australia already cancels visas for serious crime by the thousands; around 2,000 were cancelled in 2022 to 2024 alone. In 2026 it gave its immigration minister power to stop people on temporary visas in conflict zones like Iran and Lebanon from boarding flights to Australia.

WHAT THE WORLD TOUR PROVES

Nobody in the Western world is “kicking out all the Muslims.” That is a fantasy on one side and a smear on the other. What serious countries are doing is narrower and smarter: deporting non-citizen criminals and hate preachers, shutting pulpits that preach war, refusing to fund parallel legal systems, screening who comes in, and finally, FINALLY, saying out loud what the problem is.

Every one of them learned it after the funerals. We still have time to learn it before.

— THE CONQUEROR’S SIGNATURE IS WRITTEN IN STONE —

Want to see face two’s handwriting? Look at buildings.

When a city fell to the conquering army, the pattern was often the same: the main church became a mosque. The cross came down. A mihrab was added pointing toward Mecca. A minaret went up. And because Islam forbids images of living beings in worship, the faces in the mosaics were plastered over or scratched out.

HAGIA SOPHIA. Built as a cathedral in 537 AD in Constantinople. For about 900 years, the greatest church in Christendom. When the Ottoman sultan Mehmed II took the city in 1453, he converted it into a mosque the same week. The Christian mosaics were covered. In 1934, the secular Turkish republic under Ataturk turned it into a museum, a gesture of neutrality. In July 2020, Turkey’s President Erdogan converted it back into a mosque. The nearby Chora Church, with some of the finest Byzantine mosaics on earth, followed, reopening for Muslim prayer in 2024.

Notice the direction of travel. Secular museum to mosque. Again. In 2020.

DAMASCUS. The Umayyad Mosque, one of the oldest great mosques in the world, was built in the early 700s on the site of the Christian Basilica of St. John the Baptist.

JERUSALEM. This is the big one. The Temple Mount, where the First Temple of Solomon stood until the Babylonians destroyed it in 586 BC, and where the Second Temple stood until the Romans destroyed it in 70 AD. The Western Wall, where Jews pray today, is part of the retaining wall Herod built around it.

After the Muslim conquest of Jerusalem in 638, the Umayyads built the Dome of the Rock, completed around 691 or 692, right over the bedrock of the mount, and the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the southern end of the platform. Early Muslim sources called the place Bayt al-Maqdis, a name borrowed from the Hebrew for the Temple. A 1925 guidebook published by the Supreme Muslim Council itself called the site’s identity with Solomon’s Temple “beyond dispute.”

Then it became politically inconvenient. At Camp David in 2000, Yasser Arafat reportedly told American negotiators the Temple was never in Jerusalem at all. Temple denial is now common in Palestinian and Islamist rhetoric. Today, under the status quo arrangement, Jews may visit the Mount only at limited times, and Jewish prayer there is restricted.

At the holiest site in Judaism. Where the Temple stood a thousand years before Muhammad was born.

Now, fairness, as always. When Christians retook Spain, they turned mosques into cathedrals. The Great Mosque of Cordoba, itself built on the site of a Visigothic church, has been a cathedral since 1236. The Crusaders turned the Dome of the Rock into a church for a while. Converting the enemy’s shrine is an old imperial habit, not a one-religion monopoly. But one side is doing it in 2020 and 2024, and it is not the Christians.

AND THE AMERICAN LEFT’S VERSION

Here is where it gets interesting. In 2020, the West got its own statue-toppling season. In Bristol, England, protesters pulled down the statue of Edward Colston and dumped it in the harbor. In America, over 30 Columbus statues came down in 2020, by mob or by city council. Confederate monuments fell by the dozen, some by vote, some by rope. In 2021, New York City removed the statue of Thomas Jefferson from its City Council chamber. The man who wrote “all men are created equal.” Evicted.

Now, I know the difference. A city council voting to move a statue is a democracy arguing about memory. An army converting a cathedral is conquest. They are not the same act, and I will not pretend they are.

But the instinct underneath rhymes. Whoever decides which past stays visible gets to write the future. The conqueror plasters over the mosaic. The activist pulls down the statue. Both are telling you the old story is over and a new owner has the keys.

And the funniest part? When the old story is Western, the left tears it down. When the old story is Jewish, on the Temple Mount, the left calls enforcing the restriction on Jewish prayer “respecting the status quo.”

Quinn’s Law #15 again. Every culture is sacred except the West’s. Apparently that includes the West’s oldest neighbor.

— MEET THE DOORMEN —

Here is where it gets entertaining, in the way a train wreck is entertaining.

You would think the people MOST terrified of political Islam would be the American left. Look at the list of things they say they care about. Gay rights. Trans rights. Women’s rights. Abortion. Secularism. Separation of church and state. Drag story hour. Pronouns in the email signature.

Now look at what political Islam does to every single one of those things when it gets a state. We just toured the world. You saw it.

And instead? The Democratic Socialists of America, the campus left, and a large chunk of the progressive wing of the Democratic Party have tied their wagon to the Islamist cause like it is the last horse leaving town. Keffiyehs at every rally. “Globalize the intifada” chanted on campus quads. On October 8, 2023, ONE DAY after Hamas murdered roughly 1,200 people in Israel, New York City DSA helped promote a rally in Times Square that treated the massacre like a victory lap. Even Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez condemned it. When AOC is the adult in the room, the room has a problem.

Why would they do this?

Because they think they are USING political Islam. They see Islamist activists as the muscle, the energy, the turnout machine, and the moral cover they need to finish their revolution against “Western capitalism” and “colonialism.” They think when the dust settles, they will be sitting at the head of the table.

Bless their hearts. They did not do their homework. Their collective political IQ is about room temperature, and I keep my classroom at 68.

Quinn’s Law #15: “To a liberal, every culture is unquestionable and of equal value, except the West’s.” That is the entire alliance in one sentence. They will tear down a statue of Thomas Jefferson for owning slaves, then march shoulder to shoulder with movements whose classical law books still contain rules for owning them.

Quinn’s Law #20 describes the rest: liberals suffer from intellectual inbreeding, because they only think inside the liberal box. Nobody in that box ever read Velayat-e Faqih. Nobody in that box ever asked what happened to the Tudeh Party. It is the same twelve people reading the same six books and applauding each other.

What is next? American socialists marching arm in arm with a movement that, every single time it has taken power, has killed the socialists as soon as it no longer needed them?

…wait. I was just told they are doing that right now. In matching keffiyehs.

I have a modest proposal. I would like to start a GoFundMe.

The goal: send a delegation of “Queers for Palestine” and “Queers for Iran” activists on a fact-finding tour of Tehran, so they can protest American policy in person, standing in the streets alongside the government they keep defending. I will personally chip in for the tickets. Round trip. I am not a monster. I want every single one of them home safe.

I just suspect the flight home would be the quietest pro-Iran rally in history.

Because the regime they are marching for executes men for being gay, forces surgery on others to “fix” them, and jails women for showing their hair. Five minutes on the ground would teach more than five years of gender studies. The only thing they would bring home is a souvenir called reality, and maybe a newfound appreciation for the country they spent the last three years chanting against.

WHICH IS THE APARTHEID STATE?

Speaking of chants. The same film has a student ask a question that stops a lecture hall cold: how many Jews live in Palestine, and how many Arabs live in Israel? So which one is the apartheid state?

Let me give you the real numbers, because the numbers are good enough without exaggerating them.

Arabs in Israel: about 2.1 million Arab citizens, roughly 21 percent of the population. They vote. They sit in the Knesset. In 2021, an Arab party joined the governing coalition. An Arab justice sits on Israel’s Supreme Court. Arab doctors staff Israeli hospitals and treated the wounded of October 7.

Jews in Gaza: zero civilians. In 2005, Israel pulled out of Gaza entirely and forcibly removed roughly 8,000 of its own Jewish citizens from their homes there. What came next was Hamas, rockets, tunnels, and October 7.

Jews in the West Bank: to be accurate, about half a million Israeli Jews live in West Bank settlements, so “zero Jews in Palestine” is only true if you mean Gaza. Critics point to the different legal systems in the West Bank, and that is a real debate. But ask yourself why no Jewish civilian can live in a Palestinian-run city. The Palestinian Authority treats selling land to Jews as treason, and its courts have handed down death sentences for it.

So one side has two million Arab citizens with the vote. The other side treats selling a Jew a house as a capital crime. You tell me which one is running an apartheid system.

Face three, by the way, has something to say about Jews living as equals under Muslim rule. It is called the dhimma. It is not equality.

— WHAT IT DOES TO THE LEFT’S OWN PEOPLE —

Let us go down the progressive checklist one item at a time. Pencils out. This is on the test.

GAY PEOPLE

Homosexuality is criminalized in dozens of Muslim-majority countries. In several, including Iran, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Yemen, and Brunei, the law allows the death penalty. Iran has executed men for it. In 2019, Brunei announced death by stoning for gay sex, then backed off the enforcement under international pressure. ISIS threw men off rooftops on camera and posted the videos.

And Hamas, the same Hamas that “Queers for Palestine” marches for? In 2016, Hamas executed one of its own commanders, Mahmoud Ishtiwi, after he was accused of theft and of having sex with men. Its own commander. Gay Palestinians who can escape often flee to, of all places, Israel.

What is next? An LGBT group marching in support of a government that would execute its own members?

…wait. I was just told that is literally what “Queers for Palestine” is.

It is like chickens organizing a bake sale to support Colonel Sanders. The lights are on, but nobody is home. The porch light is not even on.

TRANS PEOPLE

This one is a trick question, and the answer will stun the pronouns right out of your bio.

Iran permits sex-reassignment surgery. It has since a fatwa from Khomeini in the 1980s. The government even helps pay for it.

“See!” says the DSA. “Progressive!”

No. Sit down. You are a few peas short of a casserole.

In Iran, being gay can get you executed. Being trans is treated as a medical defect to be fixed. Human rights groups have reported for years that gay men in Iran are pressured toward surgery as a way to make them legally “straight.” The regime does not affirm anyone. It has exactly two boxes, and it uses a scalpel to force you into one of them.

That is not tolerance. That is conversion therapy with anesthesia.

The American trans activist who thinks political Islam is an ally would be about as welcome in a sharia court as a ham sandwich at an iftar.

WOMEN

We covered Mahsa Amini. We covered the Taliban. Let me add what classical Islamic law, the fiqh, actually says, because this is not about “extremists.” This is the mainstream legal tradition.

Quran 4:34 gives husbands authority over wives, and it includes the instruction, in the most common translations, to “strike them” as a last step for disobedience. Scholars argue about how lightly, but the verse is in the book. A woman’s testimony in financial matters counts as half a man’s (Quran 2:282). A daughter inherits half the share of a son (Quran 4:11). A man may marry up to four wives (Quran 4:3). She may marry one husband.

And I want you to sit with this part, because this is the part I did not read in a book.

In Iraq, I escorted little girls to school. Backpacks. Braids. They could be killed for walking through that gate. Their crime was wanting to read. We built that school. We built a fire station and a hospital too. And I learned things over there no textbook prepares you for. In many conservative and tribal families, a family’s “honor” rests on the perceived purity of its women. Not what she did. What somebody THINKS she did. A girl seen talking to the wrong boy. A daughter who refuses an arranged marriage. Any of those can be enough for her own father, brother, or uncle to kill her to “cleanse” the family’s shame. The United Nations documents it. The European Union’s asylum agency documents it. It is not a talking point. It is a grave.

I have seen those girls’ faces. I still see them.

Then I come home and watch American feminists in keffiyehs, the same women who scream “my body, my choice,” marching for movements that would put them under a veil, strip them of custody, halve their inheritance, and count their testimony as half a man’s.

Their elevator does not go all the way to the top floor. I am not convinced it has buttons.

NON-BELIEVERS

“Whoever changes his religion, kill him.” That is Sahih al-Bukhari 6922. Not my translation. Theirs. It is the foundation of the classical death penalty for apostasy, and in around a dozen countries today, leaving Islam can still legally get you killed. In many more, it gets you disowned, beaten, fired, or divorced by the state.

The atheist on Reddit, the secular professor, the DSA organizer who calls religion “the opium of the masses,” what exactly do they think their legal status is under a system with the death penalty for leaving the faith? They are not future comrades.

They are future defendants.

CHRISTIANS

Ask Asia Bibi. Ask the Copts in Egypt. Ask the Christians of Nigeria. Ask the Christians of Iraq, whose numbers collapsed from over a million before 2003 to a fraction of that today, after ISIS marked their homes in Mosul with the Arabic letter “N” for Nasrani, Nazarene, and gave them a choice: convert, pay the jizya, leave, or die.

Convert, pay, leave, or die. That is Quran 9:29 with a spray can.

JEWS

Hamas’s 1988 founding charter, Article 7, quotes a hadith about the day when the stones and trees will cry out that a Jew is hiding behind them, so that he can be killed. October 7, 2023, was not an accident of history. It was that charter, with pickup trucks and GoPros.

LEFTISTS THEMSELVES

We covered Iran in 1983 and 1988. Let me make it plain for the people in the back, because the DSA crowd is two sandwiches short of a picnic and somebody already ate the basket.

Political Islam does not share your VALUES. It shares your ENEMIES. That is it. That is the whole alliance. You both hate Israel. You both hate American power. You both hate “the West.” That is not a partnership. That is two people who hate the same neighbor, and one of them is carrying a knife you have not noticed yet.

When the neighbor is gone, who do you think is next?

— THE PROOF IS ALREADY IN MICHIGAN —

You want a live demonstration? Not Iran. Not Afghanistan. Michigan. About three hours from my house.

Hamtramck, Michigan. In 2021, it became the first American city with an all-Muslim city council and a Muslim mayor. Progressives cheered. Diversity! Representation! A lot of the local liberals who helped elect them were thrilled.

In June 2023, that same city council voted unanimously to ban the Pride flag from city property.

What is next? Progressives help elect a city council that turns around and bans their rainbow flag?

…wait. I was just told that already happened. In June. During Pride Month. I teach science, and I could not have designed a cleaner experiment if you gave me a grant and a lab coat.

And just down the road from Hamtramck is Dearborn.

Dearborn has the largest concentration of Arab Americans in the country; by most estimates, roughly half the city claims Middle Eastern or North African ancestry. Drive down Warren Avenue, and on more than a few storefronts, if you want to know what kind of store you are walking into, you had better be able to read Arabic, because the Arabic is the big sign and the English is the afterthought, or missing altogether.

Now let me be the fair science teacher again. A sign in Arabic is not jihad. Chinatown has Chinese signs. Little Italy had Italian ones. My great-grandparents’ neighborhood probably had Polish ones. Language is not the threat. Nobody is getting hanged over a bakery sign.

But here is what language tells you. It is a thermometer, not the disease. It measures how much a community is joining the house versus building a separate one inside it. The Italians and the Poles kept their food and their churches and still made their kids learn English, because they wanted them to be AMERICANS. Ruth kept her memories of Moab. She did not put Moabite on the gate of Bethlehem.

When the signs, the council, the flag rules, and eventually the courts all start speaking a different language than the Constitution, you are not looking at a neighborhood anymore. You are looking at a parallel society. Denmark tore down housing projects to stop exactly that, and the Danish government that did it was run by the left.

Then there is Montgomery County, Maryland, where Muslim parents, alongside Christian and Orthodox parents, sued to opt their kids out of LGBT storybooks in elementary school. In June 2025, the Supreme Court sided with the parents 6 to 3 in Mahmoud v. Taylor.

Now listen carefully, because this is the honest part. I actually AGREE with those parents. Parents direct their kids’ moral education, not a school board. Muslim families have every right to say that, same as I do. Freedom cuts both ways, and I will defend theirs.

But that is exactly my point! The DSA thinks it is recruiting a reliable voting bloc for its revolution. Many of those families are more socially conservative than I am. The left is building its house on a foundation that disagrees with every single piece of furniture inside it.

Quinn’s Law #1: liberalism always generates the exact opposite of its stated intent. You wanted a coalition to advance your values. You recruited the best-organized opposition to them.

— THE LEFT HAS BEEN HERE BEFORE, IN 1963 —

On January 10, 1963, Congressman A.S. Herlong Jr. of Florida read a list of 45 Communist Goals for America into the Congressional Record. A few that fit here:

Goal #15: “Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.” Goal #25: “Break down cultural standards of morality…” Goal #27: “Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with ‘social’ religion.”

I am not claiming the DSA is running a 1963 checklist on purpose. I am saying that when your strategy is to capture a party, dissolve the culture, hollow out the churches, and partner with anybody who wants the old order torn down, you are not writing original material. You are a cover band playing a song that has ended in mass graves every single time it was performed live.

Quinn’s Law #2: “If you want to know what liberals are up to, pay attention to what they accuse conservatives of doing.” They call us “Christian nationalists” and “theocrats” for praying at a school board meeting. Then they march for movements that want actual theocracy. With actual religious police. And actual cranes to hang people from.

Quinn’s Law #21: “Hate speech is any speech a liberal doesn’t agree with.” Which is why quoting Quran 9:29 gets you banned from a platform, and chanting “globalize the intifada” gets you a panel at the student union.

— THE THIRD VECTOR, UP CLOSE —

So how does political Islam actually take the Big Devil? Not with a fleet. Not with a flag. With a crowbar made out of our own Constitution.

Article VI of the Constitution says the Constitution is “the supreme Law of the Land.” Not one supreme law among several. THE.

Sharia, as the classical law books describe it, also claims supremacy. Over every other legal code, in every country.

Two things cannot both be the supreme law of the same country. That is not bigotry. That is the transitive property. My freshmen get it by Tuesday.

So political Islam does not attack Article VI head-on. It uses the First Amendment to pry Article VI open. Freedom of religion becomes the delivery truck for a rival legal system. Freedom of speech becomes “hate speech” the moment you quote their own texts back at them. And “Islamophobia” becomes a modern blasphemy law with a diversity officer instead of a hangman.

Remember the Danish cartoons in 2005 and 2006? Riots. Embassies burned. People killed. And not one major American newspaper republished them. The same newsrooms that wrap themselves in the First Amendment every time the White House changes a seating chart quietly obeyed a blasphemy code they swear does not exist. Nobody passed a law. Nobody had to. They just flinched.

That is how it works. Here is the recipe, and notice that every single ingredient is supplied by Americans:

Step one: define criticism as bigotry, so nobody can say what they see. (Supplied by universities and newsrooms.) Step two: carve out parallel rules. Religious arbitration for family law, speech codes on campus, special exemptions in public spaces. (Supplied by HR departments and nervous city councils.) Step three: lock arms with a political party hungry enough for votes to look the other way. (Supplied by the DSA and the progressive left.) Step four: wait. Patiently. The Brotherhood memo was written in 1991. That was thirty-five years ago. Al-Banna started in 1928. They are not in a hurry. They think in centuries.

The DSA thinks in news cycles.

— WHAT BIOLOGY ALREADY KNOWS —

I teach anatomy, so let me explain this the way I explain it to my students.

Your immune system has one job that matters more than any other: telling “self” from “non-self.” And here is the part most people miss. It does not judge by appearance. A healthy immune system does not attack a cell because it looks different. It checks the proteins on the surface, the antigen, the ID badge, the behavior. Is this cell doing the work of the body, or is it hijacking the body’s machinery to copy itself?

There are two ways the immune system fails, and both kill you.

The first is autoimmune disease: the body attacks its own healthy cells. That is a country that treats every Muslim neighbor, every nurse, every interpreter, every soldier, as an enemy. That is wrong, it is cruel, and it destroys the body from inside. I will not be part of it.

The second is immune tolerance gone wrong: the body is so afraid of attacking anything that it lets a tumor grow unchecked. Cancer cells are very good at hiding. Some of them literally display signals that tell the immune system, “Do not attack me, I am one of you.” And the body believes it.

“Islamophobia” is that signal. It is the protein on the surface of the tumor that says, “Do not look at me. If you look at me, YOU are the disease.”

A healthy body can tell the difference between a friendly cell and a hostile one by what it DOES. So can a healthy country. The goal is not to attack everything foreign. The goal is to stop being too scared to check the ID badge.

— WHAT THE OLD BOOK SAYS ABOUT WALLS AND STRANGERS —

Somebody is about to fire Leviticus 19:34 at me: love the stranger as yourself. Agreed. Every word. Now keep reading, because God does not change, and the Bible does not contradict itself. Only the people quoting half of it do.

“There shall be one law for the native and for the sojourner who sojourns among you.” (Exodus 12:49) The same principle appears again in Numbers 15:15-16 and Leviticus 24:22. ONE law. Not two. Not a parallel family court for the newcomers and a different one for everyone else.

Ruth, the Moabite, said, “Your people shall be my people, and your God my God.” (Ruth 1:16) She joined. She did not demand that Bethlehem join her.

And when Nehemiah rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem while enemies plotted against the city, he told the people, “Do not be afraid of them; remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses.” (Nehemiah 4:14) The builders worked with one hand and held a weapon in the other (Nehemiah 4:17). Later, when outsiders tried to set up trade in violation of the city’s law, Nehemiah shut the gates and posted guards (Nehemiah 13:19).

Walls. Gates. Guards. One law. And not one unkind word in that entire book for the stranger who kept the law.

“Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman keeps awake in vain.” (Psalm 127:1) Notice the psalm assumes there IS a watchman. The watchman’s job is not optional. He just cannot do it alone.

— THE HANGMAN CAME TO TOWN —

I promised I would come back to Maurice Ogden’s poem, “The Hangman.” If you have never read it, read it after this. I will put the full citation in the comments.

Here is the irony that makes it perfect for this article: Ogden was an actor and writer who was blacklisted in the McCarthy era for alleged Communist ties. He was writing about America in the 1950s, about people who stayed silent while their neighbors were destroyed one by one. It is a poem from the LEFT, about the danger of staying quiet.

So let me hand it back to them.

In the poem, the Hangman arrives smelling of gold, blood, and flame. He builds a small gallows by the courthouse. The townspeople ask who it is for. He gives them a riddle instead of an answer. Then he takes a man who came from another land, and the town relaxes, because it was someone else. The next day, he takes another. The town tells itself it was none of their business. Each time someone is taken, the gallows grows taller, until its shadow falls across the entire town. And each time, the people who could have said something stay quiet, because saying something might put their own neck in the rope.

At the end, the Hangman comes for the narrator. And there is nobody left to cry out for him.

Now watch the American left read the poem with me.

The Hangman came for the Jews. On October 7, and in the streets of European cities, and on the Temple Mount where they are not allowed to pray. The left said: that is colonialism, it is complicated, globalize the intifada.

The Hangman came for the Christians. In Mosul, where their homes were marked with the letter N. In Egypt, where their churches burned. In Pakistan, where Asia Bibi sat on death row. The left said nothing, because Christians are the oppressors, remember?

The Hangman came for the apostates and the ex-Muslims, the ones who fled the death penalty for changing their minds. The left called them “native informants” and “Islamophobes.”

The Hangman came for the women. Mahsa Amini. The Taliban’s schoolgirls. The girls of Rotherham. The daughters killed for a look. The left said: we must respect the culture.

The Hangman came for the gays. From Tehran’s cranes to Hamas’s own commander. The left bought a “Queers for Palestine” T-shirt.

And every time, the gallows grew.

Who do you think is left, standing in the courthouse square, when the shadow reaches you?

The Iranian leftists of 1979 already answered that question. They helped the Hangman into town. They cheered while he took the Shah’s officers, the Baha’is, the monarchists, the liberals. They stayed quiet because it was not them. And in the summer of 1988, he laid his hand on their hands.

Nobody was left to cry out. They had already made sure of that.

Quinn’s Law #1 one last time: liberalism always generates the exact opposite of its stated intent. You wanted to protect the vulnerable. You held the ladder for the man building the gallows.

The DSA thinks it is one of the townspeople, clever enough to stay on the Hangman’s good side. It is not. In every version of this story, in the poem, in Tehran, in Cairo, the bystanders who helped are not rewarded.

They are just last.

— WHAT I ACTUALLY WANT —

Not a ban. Not a purge. I am not interested in anybody’s grandmother getting dragged out of a mosque. I will defend my interpreter’s right to pray until my last breath. He earned his place in this country more than most of the people reading this.

Here is what I want, and every piece of it is already being done by some Western democracy.

One law. The Constitution. Supreme, full stop, for everybody. No parallel religious courts deciding custody, divorce, or inheritance.

No blasphemy codes wearing a diversity badge. If you can mock my Bible on network television, draw a picture of what you think my God looks like, I can quote your Quran on X.

No tax-exempt pulpits preaching death for apostates or glorifying jihad. France closes them. So can we.

Immigration screening that asks about movements, not skin color. We screened for Nazis. We screened for communists. Asking whether someone belongs to a movement that states, in writing, that it wants to destroy “the miserable house” it is moving into is not bigotry. It is due diligence. If a congress member states they want to destroy the USA or subvert the constitution, they need to be removed! No questions about it!

Deport non-citizen criminals and hate preachers. Australia does it. Germany does it now. Even Sweden does it now.

Protect the Muslim reformers, the ex-Muslims, and the Muslim women who fled precisely this system, because they are the first people political Islam goes after when it gets comfortable. They are on the front line of this fight, and our left keeps shooting them in the back by calling them “Islamophobes.”

And for the love of all that is holy, I want the American left to do its homework before it signs up to be the next Tudeh Party.

Because here is how the story ends for them. It always ends the same way.

Ask the Iranian leftists of 1979.

Oh, wait. A lot of them you can’t. They were hanged in 1988. The lucky ones are in exile, and ask any of them what they think of the DSA’s new friends.

But what do I know. I am only a combat medic who escorted little girls to school in a country where that could get them killed, an anatomy teacher who knows the difference between an immune system and an autoimmune disease, a guy who actually read the Sira, the Hadith, and the Holy Land Foundation exhibits instead of the protest signs, a man with enough Muslim friends to know the difference between a man and a movement, and a guy who has read “The Hangman” enough times to know exactly how it ends for the people who stay quiet.

Apparently that makes me the bigot in this story.

I will take it.
