Developing artificial intelligence is the 21st century’s moon race. This time, the stakes are survival itself.
Journalist John Solomon tweeted, “Bernie Sanders and Steve Bannon unite at Pro-Human Assembly to demand AI guardrails.”
If that doesn’t convince you to support the development of artificial intelligence, maybe this will.
President Trump told reporters in Ireland this weekend, “We’re leading China in AI. We’re the most sophisticated country in the world, and frankly I want to keep it that way because whoever wins AI wins.”
He also said, “The only control or ‘guardrails’ that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT, and the U.S.A. has that, in spades!”
Followed by, “The Trump Administration has stopped AI ‘people’ from doing bad, or potentially bad, ‘things,’ like Dario (Anthropic!), who is now pretending to be a ‘perfect little angel’—and we will continue to do so! We already have tremendous CRIMINAL and REGULATORY power over these companies! There is a SICK conspiracy going on against AI and Data Centers, and the only one that is happy about it is China. WHOEVER WINS AI, WINS! We are leading China, and all others, and will continue to do so. Conspiracy Theorists, Treasonists, Traitors, and Leakers, BEWARE!”
And he said, “AI taking over the World, destroying Humanity, and all other things bad, is a HOAX.”
And “I am the Hoax Buster, and I’m right now breaking another hoax that AI is going to take over, consume, and destroy the World, and that Robots will be marching into our Cities, and getting rid of us all! This is even wilder than the RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA HOAX, or the Global Warming Scam.”
Still not convinced? Obama is calling for guardrails. He’d put training wheels on a tricycle.
Growing up in the 1960s, we were in a race against Russia to get to the moon first. I had no doubt we would because JFK told us when I was nine that we would get to the moon by the end of the decade.
We did.
We also won the race to personal computers and the Internet.
I totally back the USA winning the race to artificial intelligence domination. East of the Mississippi, the fears about water use are unfounded. From the Great Lakes to the Gulf of America to the Atlantic, there is plenty of water.
Droughts happen on occasion. Poca, West Virginia, suffered back-to-back extreme droughts in the summers of 2024 and 2025, but the Kanawha River still flowed and the John Amos power plant across that river continued to keep our air conditioners on. My water tap never went dry.
This summer was normal.
Out in the West, it is a different story. That’s not my concern because we have plenty of space in the East to handle AI.
The good news is America is well ahead of Red China in this struggle between freedom and communism.
But Red China is treating AI as a national priority and is pouring policy, money and industrial capacity into it.
Beijing is drafting a multi-year data-center and compute buildout costing $295 billion with state telecoms running much of the network and a push for 80% domestic chips (Huawei and others) instead of Nvidia/AMD.
That’s a lot of money but it is government-run.
The USA is running even harder with private companies taking the lead. We do not want to regulate ourselves into second place.
The combined capital expenditure in 2026 is $700 billion to $850 billion.
Even adjusting for the inherent higher cost of a project in a capitalist country, the USA investment is more than double Red China’s.
But Red China is way ahead of the Trump administration when it comes to propaganda—and propaganda works in the USA. Look at Iran. Our military sank its navy, destroyed its air defenses and grounded its air force. The American media treats our demolition of Iran’s military as a loss.
Red China has help from Democrats—or the DCCP, if you please—and their media.
Time magazine ran an AI-phobic cover story. Jordan Schachtel tweeted, “Two of the reporters on the byline are funded by the Tarbell Center, an AI doomer org controlled by Kamala Harris megadonor Dustin Moskovitz. Tarbell gives journalists large grants to insert AI doomer stories into prominent outlets. Time did not disclose the affiliation.”
Time magazine is all in against AI, just as it was all in on global cooling, global warming, ending nuclear energy production and Hillary Clinton.
Moskovitz’s tax-exempt organization opposes AI, at least in the USA. He claims there is a great big, huge risk of extinction from AI.
Where have we heard that before? Oh yeah, global cooling, global warming and nuclear energy production.
The only thing stopping the USA is propaganda. Pressure from NGOs leads local governments to refuse permits for AI projects. Hucksters like Sanders and Bannon are peddling their guardrails.
On July 16, Business Insider reported:
A proposal to build a massive AI data center roughly 20 miles from President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property in Palm Beach, Florida, was rejected late Wednesday by county commissioners after a marathon hearing.
The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners’ 5-1 vote on Project Tango followed months of organized opposition from residents who argued that the plans would strain local infrastructure and negatively impact the surrounding community.
The decision marks one of the latest flashpoints in the race to build out AI data centers across the United States.
If a county commission approves a permit, there is an ever-reliable federal judge ready to overrule it—or a local Indian tribe willing to claim that the land is sacred. Lefties play the system as if it were three-card monte.
It comes down to whom you trust: Bernie Sanders and Steve Bannon, or Donald Trump?
