Lincoln warned that if America were ever destroyed, “we must ourselves be its author and finisher.” The answer isn’t censorship, blind trust in government, or blind distrust of it. It is resilient institutions, transparent elections, evidence, critical thinking, and citizens willing to defend the rights of people they despise.
