Biden Deputy Nat Sec Adviser to CNN: ‘Borders should be inviolate’ and ‘sovereignty should be respected’

On Tuesday morning, CNN’s John Berman asked Biden’s Deputy National Security Adviser Jonathan Finer why Americans should care about what’s happening in Ukraine. Finer replied:

Because it goes to a very fundamental principle of all nations, which is that our borders should be inviolate, that our sovereignty should be respected. If the international system is to mean anything, it should mean no country can change another country’s borders or affect another country’s government by force, and Russia by amassing all the troops on Ukraine’s border is calling into question those very basic principles.

They’re also, from the perspective of the United States and our allies unsettling our allies because Ukraine is on the border of several NATO allies, as is Belarus where Russia is flowing troops. And our alliance commitments are sacred. The president has made that clear and we will also be posturing ourselves to reassure those allies should Russia choose to test that.

Although Berman failed to point out the extraordinary hypocrisy in Finer’s answer, it’s impossible to miss.

Later in the day, an extremely agitated Nancy Pelosi demanded her colleagues take immediate action on a bill she said was critical to U.S. national security.

Tucker Carlson reported that this legislation would affirm the “inviolability” of national borders. You may be thinking that perhaps she finally realizes her party’s open border policy has become untenable. You would be wrong.

The name of the bill is the “Defending Ukraine Sovereignty Act.”

Carlson told viewers, “It’s purpose is to guarantee ‘Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.’ These are the things that all countries need. We’d love to have them here.”

He said the Biden Administration has “enabled” an assault on our national security and he’s right.

Intellectual giant Kamala Harris, our esteemed vice president, weighed in. “The bottom line is that we have been clear and consistent for quite some time that we respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, and we expect that Russia would do the same. And any aggressive action by Vladimir Putin will be met with severe consequences,” Harris said.

Fox News’ Bill Melugin presented footage last weekend of “large numbers of single adult illegal immigrants” being released into Brownsville, Texas, and “transported into the U.S.” The group was mostly male.

According to the report:

… Several federally contracted buses dropping off dozens of mostly male migrants at a parking garage in Brownsville, Texas. Black tarps were set up with a makeshift sign said “Border Patrol drop-off” above it.

Fox witnessed men go into a small, unmarked office, then re-emerge moments later as multiple taxi cabs then showed up to collect the migrants — who were then shuttled off to nearby Harlingen Airport. There were no children or migrant families among the groups.

Several of the migrants told Fox that they had crossed illegally that morning, paying approximately $2,000 per person to cartel smugglers. They also said they were flying to destinations including Miami, Houston and Atlanta.

Single adults are typically being expelled via Trump-era Title 42 public health protections. The Biden administration kept Title 42 in place but is not applying it to unaccompanied children or most migrant families. However, single adults have long been the easiest category of migrant to deport.

Customs and Border Patrol announced on Monday that 178,840 illegals were either apprehended or turned themselves in at the U.S./Mexico border in December.

This brings the total number of encounters to over two million for calendar year 2021. This figure, of course, doesn’t include the “gotaways,” those who entered the country undetected, a number estimated at several hundred thousand.

Certainly, the situation in Ukraine is a serious one and deserves our government’s attention, but the disaster at our southern border is far more critical to our national security.

Question: Why is the integrity of Ukraine’s border more important than the integrity of our southern border?
