As Trudeau Cowers in an Undisclosed Location, CBC Anchor Suggests Putin Might Be Behind the Massive Trucker Protests

As “the world’s longest convoy of truckers” approached Parliament Hill in the Canadian capital city of Ottawa on Friday night, Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau and his family were whisked away to a secret location.

Trudeau’s cross-border vaccine mandate, which requires truckers to be vaccinated in order to cross the U.S./Canadian border (or face an onerous mix of tests and quarantine), took effect on Jan. 15. A similar U.S. mandate followed one week later.

This unnecessary order is guaranteed to exacerbate the current supply chain crisis.

A Canadian journalist had an interesting theory about why thousands of truck drivers are protesting the government’s vaccine mandate. During an interview with Canada’s Minister of Public Safety Marco Mendicino, CBC News’ Nil Koksal suggested that Putin might be behind the Freedom for Truckers protest.

With zero evidence, Koksal told Mendicino there “is concern” that Russia has orchestrated the protest in retaliation for Canadian support for Ukraine.

“I do ask that because given Canada’s support of Ukraine, in this current crisis with Russia, I don’t know if it’s far-fetched to ask, but there is concern that Russian actors could be continuing to fuel things, as this protest grows, but perhaps even instigating it from the outset,” Koksal said.

Mendicino’s replied in a circumspect manner, deferring to the “trained officials and experts in that area.” He did concede that they were “watching the conduct of this convoy very carefully.”

“What I can tell you,” Mendicino said, “is that we do have courses on site right now who are watching the conduct of this convoy very carefully and we’re providing direction and guidance to residents to ensure that there is a peaceful protest, but at the same time, providing direction and guidance to residents.”

“And obviously, it’s important that Parliament continue to function. It’s important that we provide essential services to to Canadians and those back in the area and all of that will continue on the strength of the advice that we’re getting from police and other partners in the public safety apparatus.”

Who would even think of such a preposterous explanation for the protest?

If anyone ever wondered if the Canadian media performed the same role for  their country’s government as the U.S. media does for ours, those doubts have been laid to rest.

The Toronto Sun’s Brian Lilley explains:

The media in this country is not acting as a neutral observer and conduit for news on this matter, most have decided the trucker convoy is the enemy and are treating it as such. Watch any of the news networks or, more importantly, read the Twitter accounts of supposedly objective journalists, or listen to the contempt in their voices as they ask questions to see that they have clearly taken sides.

Apparently, the journalists on Parliament Hill these days think their job is to hold the opposition and not the government to account. It also appears their job to support some protest movements and attack others based on the personal preferences of the journalists.

Not everyone agrees with Trudeau’s foolish mandate. The Premier of Saskatchewan, Scott Moe, expressed his support for the truckers and wrote a letter (posted on Twitter) saying that “in the not too distant future,” he will be ending the policy in his province.
