“Curious” George Santos. Even though 1,023 commentaries have been written about him, I couldn’t resist tossing my own two cents in.
So, the latest brouhaha in the House of Representatives is George Santos. If that’s his real name. I’m telling you, this guy is either a dream or a nightmare. The Congressional Dems want him gone as do the Nassau Republicans. Some Congressional Republicans do too. But I have a couple of questions. Did the Nassau Republicans not vet their candidate? Did his opponent not research his background? Did the voters simply take him at his word? I haven’t seen the House and the media this spun up since Trump was in office. And even after Trump left office the zaniness continues. It’s like watching an old Marx brothers’ movie.
So what we have is a Congressman who flipped a Blue seat Red with 54% of the vote. Who now admits he “embellished” his resume. And his background. And his mother’s death. And as a result, the Congressional Dems are apoplectic calling for him to resign. In the words of Representative Ted Lieu on Twitter, “GOP Congressman-elect George Santos, who has now admitted his whopping lies, should resign. If he does not, then @GOPLeader should call for a vote to expel.”
But I have to ask in the interest of fairness, when will Representative “Lying Adam” Schiff resign? Senator “Danang Dick” Blumenthal? How about Senator “Hiawatha” Warren? And then there’s POTUS, who every time he opens his mouth another falsehood pours forth about his family, his background, and his experiences on “planes, trains, and automobiles.” No joke, what’s good for the goose………
Do I condone what “George” did? No. But neither do I condone the actions any of the above mentioned persons either. There seems to be so many glass houses on The Hill that perhaps they should figure out who’s qualified to cast the first stone. But is this the world of politics now? Were the voters in NY03 just too lazy to do their homework or were they just tired of Democrats? Can it happen in your district too? Sure.
The Electorate needs to know for whom they’re voting. The Parties need to vet their candidates. The people need to be educated, responsible voters. In my opinion, the country got taken in by the media in 2020 that sang the praises of a guy in a basement. But had we done our basic homework we’d probably not be going through one crisis after another as we are now.
Remember, it all came down to us. We The People have no one to blame but ourselves. Let’s not make the same mistake again. And lets see what happens to George. Or Anthony. Or whoever he decides to be.
