Where Is The Federal Investigation Of The North Dakota Shooting

For some reason a mass shooting of four cops is not bringing much attention. Not because the man has a Muslim name and is a refugee from Syria, right?

Gregory (Scotland Yard detective): “Is there any other point to which you would wish to draw my attention?”

Holmes: “To the curious incident of the dog in the night-time.”

Gregory: “The dog did nothing in the night-time.”

Holmes: “That was the curious incident.”

Sherlock Holmes in Silver Blaze, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

As I was reviewing my emails early Sunday morning, there was a report from National Review on how a white man murdered 3 black people in a Family Dollar in Jacksonville FL. This occurred just past 130pm Saturday 8/26/23. The shooter (I will not mention his name) murdered 3 people for the crime of being black. Instead of facing the music he used the cowards way out, shooting himself. From the article:

Three People Killed in Racially Motivated Shooting in Florida

Three people were killed Saturday in a shooting at a store in Jacksonville, Florida that police said was an intentional attack on black people.

The suspect penned three manifestos outlining his hatred for the race, Jacksonville sheriff T. K. Waters said at a press conference on Saturday night. “This shooting was racially motivated and he hated black people,” he said.

The shooter, who the sheriff said was a white man in his 20s, killed himself after killing the victims, all black individuals…

…The suspect lived with his parents and texted his father before the shooting to check his computer, where the documents detailing his plans were stored.

Isolated young man living with his parents, not the first time we’ve seen this movie. But not letting a crisis go to waste, here they come to save the day:

The FBI opened a federal civil rights investigation to probe the incident as a hate crime. The agency’s Jacksonville field office is coordinating with the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida on the situation…

This was less than 24 hours after the shooting. I’ll hazard a guess the crime scene was not cleared by the time the feds said, “We’re in charge.” Also, the 4th Estate is pushing the narrative of a white racist gunning down black people, and I have no doubt they are looking for a picture of the shooter in MAGA hat. The shooting was top of Google News with four stories as I got to work Sunday morning.

Now the POS was armed with a Glock pistol and an AR-15 “assault rifle” (using the clueless term of the left). From the Reuters article, “…(Jacksonville Sheriff T. K.) Waters described his weapons as a Glock and an ‘AR-15 style’ rifle, with swastikas on it, referring to a lightweight semi-automatic long gun often used in mass shootings.”

Actually, they are not. In 2/3rds of mass shootings the shooters use pistols only. But I digress.

The usual suspects are screaming about racism and new laws to control “gun violence.” Gun violence is another worthless term to combine actual crimes like murder and assault with suicides and accidental injury or death to confuse people and boost death statistics. Again, never let a crisis go to waste.

Now compare this proliferate of federal action to another event ten days ago. Four Fargo ND officers were ambushed on the street by a man with an “assault rifle,” an AK-47, leaving one officer dead, two others critically injured, as well as a civilian who tried to run from the scene. The video shows how quickly a stable situation goes to chaos in an instant.

‘Send everybody’: Video shows ambush that killed Fargo officer, wounded 2 others

BWC video shows the chaotic attack that killed one officer and wounded two others, as the only officer left standing was able to stop the heavily armed shooter.

BISMARCK, N.D. — Dramatic body camera footage of a shooting ambush last month in Fargo shows the surprise nature of the chaotic attack along a busy street that left one police officer dead and others wounded, as the only officer left standing called for help and engaged the heavily armed shooter…

The scenes show gunman Mohamad Barakat shooting rapid fire from a .223-caliber rifle, modified with a binary trigger, that took down three officers before a breathless Robinson stopped him after a nearly 2-minute confrontation.

The video also illustrates what authorities have said was likely part of a planned, larger attack, with an arsenal of guns and explosives found in Barakat’s vehicle…

…Robinson takes cover behind a vehicle in the road and tells dispatchers that “a man with an AK-47” is “shooting at us,” before another barrage of gunfire erupts.

“Central we have shots fired, we got three officers down, three officers down. Send everybody!” Robinson can be heard saying on body-worn camera video…

…Video shows Barakat continuing to move around on the ground as sirens wail and Robinson calls for him to put his hands up and drop the gun, then shoots at him. Wrigley said Robinson fired 31 rounds, 21 striking Barakat and ultimately killing him and preventing what authorities said could have been a much bigger attack with summer festivities occurring in the area at the time…

After the shooting, investigators found numerous guns, 1,800 rounds of ammunition, a homemade grenade and explosives in Barakat’s vehicle…

…Authorities have said Barakat’s internet queries over the past five years included “kill fast,” “explosive ammo,” “incendiary rounds,” “mass shooting events,” and one for “area events where there are crowds,” which brought up a news article with the headline, ”Thousands enjoy first day of Downtown Fargo Street Fair,” a day before the shooting…

From a later article:

On the day of the attack, the downtown fair was in its second day and was less than 3 miles (5 kilometers) from the crash scene. It’s unclear if it was the intended target, though, as Barakat also searched for information on the Red River Valley Fair, which was just a 6-mile (10-kilometer) drive from the scene, the attorney general said.

After driving by the fender bender, Barakat pulled into an adjacent parking lot to watch from his parked car, Wrigley said. He said Barakat’s car was loaded with guns, a homemade grenade, more than 1,800 rounds of ammunition, three “largish” containers full of gasoline, plus two propane tanks, one completely filled and the other half-filled not with propane, but with “explosive materials concocted at home, purchased lawfully.”

With police and firefighters busy helping, Barakat watched for several minutes until the officers walked by him, when he lifted a .223-caliber rifle out of his car window and began firing, Wrigley said.

Sounds like Mr. Marakat was on a mission to kill and injury countless innocent people, like a good terrorist. But where is the constant update from ABC/CBS/NBC/MSNBC et all? You would think the feds would want to take lead on this investigation, showing them handing it as a terrorist act, or even a “hate crime.” Well, not really.

One must ask where is the US attorney for North Dakota holding a press conference on how his office will lead the investigation into this “hate crime?” Where is Mr. Garland holding one press conference after another on the threat of this type of domestic terror, and how the Biden administration would not allow this to stand. Wait, you mean he was only let into the county in 2011? Oh, who was president back then?

Don’t hold your breath. Federal law enforcement has been corrupted since the Obama years, directed against the enemies of the Democratic party, which they now see as the state. Unless we get strong Republican president and a solid congress, the needed purge of the bureaucracy will not happen. Members of the GOP, what federal law enforcement has descended to is worse than spying on Americans during the Vietnam War and Civil Rights era. Perhaps you need to review the Church Committee reports to find out what to do.

PS: Checked this morning (Monday, 8/28/23), still on top of Google News with four articles. Nothing on the ND shooting.

  1. Where was the Federal support when a scumbag let out by Mike Huckabee murdered four of my badged-and-blue friends in 2009?

Oh wait, the scumbag who part of me wishes I coulda been there to blindside him as he was blindsiding my friends was an Underprivileged Urban Yoot Of Color… and according to Prophet Barack the Nonpareil Pee Be Eternally Upon Him And All His Followers one drop of melanin excuses all sins.

I do not use his name because this Feral Hominid, this ANIMAL, chose to renounce his standing as a fellow human being by his deeds, and his just desserts being put down like the rabid dog he was by Seattle PD soon after were richly deserved.

I more than understand that sir. I remember that shooting, and it was very unsettling for a lot of my fellow cops. How many times do you stop at a coffee shop to take a brake, maybe write a report over a drink, relax, knowing the area is “safe.”

Houston is a much more supportive area for law enforcement, but after that incident I told my officers at roll call, “We all have our spots to stop at, take a break, etc. Change those around for the time being. Take your break at the station, or a fire station…” Not that we’re paranoid, but…even paranoids have enemies.

To your friends. like all cops who go down in the line of duty, Rest In Peace. We Got The Watch.

    • Mike, first, I’m not a cop nor have any desire to be one–they were among the large group of local LE who mentored me on the range standing between my college girlfriend and the Feral Hominid ex who intended her harm. Knowing how survivor guilt works only does so much to mitigate it, especially since The Ex and I both owe our lives to lessons they helped teach us, and while they were there for us in our darkest hour I wasn’t for them in theirs even though I know they wouldn’t have WANTED me there.

Second, gotta drop one of Grandpa’s Old Sarge-isms on ya… “Don’t ‘sir’ me, I work for a living too.” 🙂 (Funny aside, my college mentor frequently said he turned in his LTC oakleaves to get away from that…)

Gotta remind you of the tagline from a movie, a line one of my Psych profs was really big on: “It’s not paranoia if there really IS someone out to get you.” 🙂 Here around Seatthell, though, the threat profiles are moving to less “Your Name On It” and more “General Delivery, To Whom It My Concern.”

    • Addendum to my prior: At that time other friends in LE were Graveyard Shift and used part of the back room at a local diner where I burned midnight oil on client projects, term papers and position papers as the “overnight stationhouse,” and I’d like to hope that since anyone trying to come for them in their corner would have to pass me in mine first, I gave them some reassurance from having another armed good-guy ready to pitch in if trouble came to them. 🙂
