The Battle of Lexington depicted in a 1910 portrait by William Barnes Wollen
On April 19, 1775, the British Army moved to confiscate weapons stored by American Patriots in Concord and Lexington. They failed.
But they did succeed in stirring up a hornet’s nest that would last for several years as American Patriots fought, not just against the British, but against other Americans in a Civil War that pitted Loyalists supporting the British Crown against Patriots determined to gain their freedom and independence from Britian.
The American Revolution was a Civil War as well as an international conflict.
America today may be headed toward another Civil War. It’s Third.
The potential catalyst for that event was outlined by Victor Davis Hanson in a recent interview with Tucker Carlson. The interview is posted at Tucker Carlson Tonight 10/2/23 E.P 27 | Tucker Carlson Tonight October 2, 2023 – YouTube.
In 32 minutes, VDH catalogues the ongoing, incremental deconstruction of America led by the liberal leftists is charge of the post-Obama Democratic Party. Their tactics today bear little resemblance to the Democrats of the pre-Obama era. (Note: No member of the liberal media asked Obama what he meant when he promised the “Fundamental Transformation” of America. Why not?)
VDH does not describe the final goal of the progressive lefts’ plans for Fundamental Transformation. But their objective is falling into place, one piece at a time.
VDH predicts the 2024 General Election will be a critical turning point – one way or the other.
Meanwhile, the GOP is neither organized nor powerful enough to offer sufficient influence and leverage (my words, not his) to slow or stop the destruction of the American culture.
In the Tucker interview, VDH does not attach the far left’s ultimate destination to the Great Reset and the global government dream of the World Economic Forum. But it may be.
The fulfillment of the left’s agenda for Fundamental Transformation depends on the negation of the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
The First Amendment is already under attack, with assistance from tech giants, major social media sites, the legacy media, some large corporations, the academy (public schools K-12, the teachers unions, the universities where the preponderance of professors are Democrats), and, sadly, some elements of the church.
The requisite key to the fulfillment of Obama’s Fundamental Transformation is the Federal Government’s confiscation of civilian firearms to be accomplished by a joint effort of (1) an enhanced Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, backed-up by (2) the Federal Bureau of Investigation, (3) the U.S. Marshalls Service, (4) the Department of Homeland Security, (5) the Drug Enforcement Administration, and all the other full-time 130,000 personnel in federal agencies authorized to carry firearms and conduct arrests in 50 states and the District of Columbia.
The role of the 800,000 law enforcement officers in the U.S. would vary, as could the role of the individual states’ National Guards. In any regard, sufficient forces exist within the Federal Government to erase the Second Amendment.
You might consider this potential future far-fetched. It may be.
But Beto O’Rourke, once a serious candidate for Governor in Texas, wouldn’t see it that way. He said he’d go door-to-door to confiscate civilian firearms. He received 43.8% of the votes in the last Texas gubernatorial election. Bill Clinton got only 43% in the 1992 Presidential Election. ![]()
In 1775, not all the Patriot settlers along the road the British took from Boston to Lexington and then Concord were prepared for war.
Nor would all of them ever fight. But enough of them were ready that day, and enough fought.
Many more than the Red Coats expected.
