One of the most disturbing things I’ve seen lately besides the Hamas terrorist attack on innocent Israeli families and world concert goers is the demonstration of ignorance on college campuses across America where students lacking any sense of history, facts, justice or humanity are advocating for Hamas and the Palestinians as the victims in light of these heinous, murderous, pointless attacks.
Top of the bizarre posse lunacy has to be the “Queers for Palestine club,” aka the “chickens for Col Saunders” club. Or the inflammatory rhetoric being issued in the United Nations, showing even worse ahistoric ignorance and disregarding facts of what just happened in this latest round of violence.
I’m heading off my topic a bit here (yes, what else is new) but when I think about Palestine the first thing that comes to mind is the outrageous and useless violence perpetrated in Munich, Germany in the 1972 Olympics when those terrorists killed eleven Israeli athletes and brought shame on their cause for a lifetime: that would be this lifetime.
It has nothing to do with a grudge or vengeance or stubbornness. The man who reportedly paid for the Munich operation has been Chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization since 11 Nov 2004 and the President of the Palestinian National Authority since 15 Jan 2005, Mahmoud Abbass, aka Abu Mazen.
Munich 1972 was a never forget moment. Hamas and October 7, 2023, is much, much worse in terms of a terrorist event.
The recent hand wringing, pearl clutching reactions to Supreme Court Decisions exposes some disturbing beliefs in America that in our moment of muted celebration of the triumph of the constitution over evil (in some cases) and the values that hallowed document undergirds in our society, we should not allow the left and supporters of the LMSBTG relief too soon prior to moving on to other challenges to American values.
Nearly right on cue we have the continuing mindless and aberrant fact of men-complete with man parts-cause that’s how you can solve that leftist insinuated mystery of life-invading the privacy of a woman’s locker room at the YMCA. Resulting in-of course-a 16-year-old girl being accused of hate speech because she reported on what she saw-a dude in the girls locker-room and has been called out and shamed as if she is the problem.
Is anyone else sick to death of this stupidity, coddling the mentality addled, sexually dysphoric and often aberrant few in our society who are inordinately handled-treated-in a way that discomforts, inconveniences and disenfranchises the many in favor of the few?
I’m probably looking at it wrong, but the vast majority of these incidents involve intact males that photographic evidence indicates would not be mistaken for females under any circumstances imaginable: but that doesn’t seem to matter. OBTW, how many trans males-mentally confused, sexually dysphoric females in case you are puzzled–over the last decade or so have been reported in the male bathroom, shower, changing facility, whatever: why is that?
Similarly, a recent California abortion law was being discussed and the terms the legislators are pushing include a provision that you can abort-kill an “unborn baby” with no limitations of date-calendar-delivery date or whatever. To hear the talk about it we are certainly looking at right up to delivery with no restrictions or checks and balances-because “reproductive healthcare.”
I know it’s me and old-fashioned thinking, but some two decades after the democrat platform removed the “rare” part of their unholy alliance officially sanctioning and embracing abortion to kowtow to either the Clintons, Obama or both-as the confirmed 21st century birth control methodology of choice-killing a baby deliberately on the threshold of birth seems like a patently sick out of the norm insanity.
Of course, “rare” left town decades ago as abortions in America approached 100 million. Now I submit that regardless of how you feel about abortion-and whether religious, moral, common sense or other based grounds, you can make a disingenuous argument about conception, fetus vice human (as if it can be separated,) or any smarmy, simple or complex argument you want.
But advocating for “abortion” up to birth is ghoulish and knocks the props and any legitimacy out from under any other gitchy or clever argument that incremented your position over time to this belief.
The left similarly (to Churchill-in fact to all great leaders who refuse to take the knee to wokism and the left) loathed Justice Antonin Scalia, who besides often being the lone voice of sanity on an increasingly political and social justice focused Supreme Court, penned masterpieces of common sense and logic in defense of American values that his critics-and often his colleagues-seemed only too quick-and willing-to abandon.
His infamous “reduction to the absurd” argument that was pilloried as hyperbolic at the time, a warning that was directed at communities blithely eliminating laws against sodomy in a kowtow to and show of wokeism, turned out to be prescient and a forewarning of judicial meddling that released “the beast” in America.
Many such ill-thought through rulings and “accommodations” serve only to undermine our system and expose those who advocate such actions as enemies of our American form of government. These “niche” or fashionable issues require interpretive “Jujitsu” such as finding a right to abortion in the constitution or justifying prejudice, favoritism or racism in the form of quotas or “preferences” that patently favor specific categories of humans over others, or limits or restricts clearly stated first or second amendment rights.
Sugarcoat and explain it away all you may. If you can rationalize and justify caving on any of these issues separating left and right, demonrats and conservatives, you deserve every bit of weasel-dom with which the left will paint you with when they come after you.
The admonition to turn the other cheek, give ground to get along, meet those with whom you disagree in the middle on issues and policy is still a compelling argument-along with cooperative engagement with those we disagree with-and a mode of behavior to aspire to in public policy and discourse.
But you don’t turn the other cheek by putting your head in the sand. Justice Scalese’s “reduction to the absurd” was not mere hyperbole but instructive in light of human nature and societal trends that well demonstrate and exemplify what he meant.
His flair for the dramatic with a touch of over-the-top rhetorical flourish for good measure was guaranteed to put him at odds with a lot of the population-in many cases-the majority. Which he reveled in from the standpoint of forcing people to think through the consequences of these actions.
“What does Scalia’s observation even mean” he cried? There is no math, science, physics or speed of light hypothesis involved here. There are numerous-myriad-examples of what Scalia meant for those with common sense who tend to question and think critically about such things.
Without offering deep analysis, the trend of males in female locker rooms is an example of such a reduction. Tampons in male bathrooms would be another-not just the idea, but the notion of school boards emplacing rules that taxpayers bear the burden of cost for such things that have little to nothing to do with education.
These are minor issues, correct? What about the LGBTQ parades where some deem it necessary to ride bikes naked in public because-letter people? Apparently, nothing says gay pride quite like riding bicycles nude in front of the public: how could you not support such a spectacle?
How about the effort to “pronoun” kids as young as kindergarten age because kids have rights: but parents don’t, so teachers and unions believe it is OK to inflict this aberrant discussion on grade school kids, while withholding knowledge of much of it from parents. Now last I checked grammar, conjugation, and pronouns are not on the docket for instruction at these young ages. Neither is-in many cities and counties in America-learning.
Abortion politics and advocates have basically cleansed the democrat center and left of center of any person who is not 100% for abortion upon demand anytime up to and including delivery of the baby: there is no room for differing opinions in the religion of abortion. After nearly thirty years of artifice and clever arguments about clusters of cells that separate a fetus from a baby as if such a category counts as “less life” somehow, we’ve arrived at putting the abortion of a baby under a “woman’s reproductive health category” like the elimination of cancer or some other body malady.
All propaganda offered in the face of increasingly sophisticated evidence-as if more proof was needed-or could make a difference in the dogma-via monitoring devices and sonograms where you can easily see, hear and interact with a baby in the womb. We have gone beyond the theater of the absurd in achieving the reduction state whereby some can put forth the term “abortion” and apply it to a baby who has been delivered into our world, as in legislation that has been put forth, as well as discussions at high level of state government that extends the abortion options to killing a living, out of the womb, viable baby: a reduction to the absurd as well as the unconscionable, vile and murderous.
What constitutes a reduction to the absurd in the doctrine of abortion? Hmm, to quote a scholar on these matters, “well golllleee,” maybe it is the elimination/modification of the democrat policy and doctrine of “available, safe and rare” as late as 2008 to “available (whenever) and safe right up to and including birth” and now perhaps after birth as put forth in some states.
If you read the above and think it is made up, farcical, a mischaracterization or over the top propaganda, that is part of the problem. The bottom-line is you can’t extend the ignorant argument that a baby is a bunch of cells and then abort upon delivery, at birth.
A similarly clear-cut example (reduction to the absurd) is when a mob incites violence, sets buildings on fire, injures some 145-secret service, literally compromises security of the center and symbol of our government, and drives leaders to seek safety as directed by security charged with their safeguarding.
ANTIFA and Black Liberation Revival Movement protestors represented such a threat that President Trump was forced by the secret service under an abundance of caution-to seek refuge in the White House bunker that had been constructed in case a terrorist threat penetrated security.
The DC Capital Police did not respond to the danger-cause Orange Man Bad-and also because Mayor Muriel Bowser was in the throes of celebrating criminality by redesignating the local access route in honor of the criminals from ANTIFA and BLRM who had been terrorizing Washington DC tourists, restaurants and gatherings of citizens who presented easy targets in what has become the most dangerous 60-mile square criminal center in America.
It is worth noting that these dangerous illegal and seemingly unstoppable riots and acts of violence in DC have been ongoing for nearly half a dozen years now.
The reduction to the absurd encompasses our two-tiered or really one tiered system against the party out of power. Compare the treatment of the ANTIFA and BLRM rioters with the Trump supporters from 6 Jan 2021.
The feds went after the 6 Jan 2021 attendees like pursuing terrorists, while spending no time whatsoever on criminal ANTIFA and BLRM violence that caused billions of dollars of damage and killed a reported 27 people. Oh, and disrupted government and caused the evacuation of the White House by the president, while setting fires and battling security. If a foreign power did that it would be considered an act of war.
What is next in this cultural lunacy?
