If President Trump loses the Iowa Caucus and New Hampshire Primary, his childish, rude reaction could snatch the Republican nomination away from him. “If” and “Could.” TBD. Then, he might run as an independent if he can get on 50 state ballots. What a disaster that would be. He would be Ross Perot 2.0, but not as amusing.
Ross Perot had some personal issue with President George H. Bush (41). He was a self-made billionaire and U.S. Naval Academy graduate. His flat, twangy Texas accent made his simple solutions to complex problems comically appealing. And, millions of Americans supported him with cult-like allegiance.
He ran, quit the race, and jumped back in to win an remarkable 19.7 million votes for an 18.9% share of the popular vote in the 1992 election. His share helped Bill Clinton get elected with less than 50% of the vote. His Reform Party cast aspersions Left and Right against the Democrats and Republicans alike. But, most of Perot’s animus was pointed at President Bush.
“United We Stand” had the same strong appeal as “Make America Great Again.” Really, they’re both great slogans. Unfortunately, they both, inadvertently, placed the self-promotion of egotistical billionaires above the very people who rabidly support their idols. The very wage-earning and small business-owning Americans who need to be united to stand and make America great again are betrayed when a Perot or Trump lose to install a Democrat regime.
The Democrats are far more dangerous now than they were in 1992. Getting the Democrats elected again in 2024 puts our Constitutional Republic in danger. That isn’t political hyperbole. The domestic enemies of the U.S. Constitution are a clear and present danger to the Rule of Law.
The lawfare against President Trump is evidence of their nefarious schemes. Schemes which include driving up Trump’s positives in sympathy to help him win the nomination, switching out Biden at the last minute, and winning, by any means necessary, the election in the swing states – again.
Let’s call that Democrat scheme – Plan A.
Plan B. is Trump loses the early primaries to DeSantis and goes barking, moonbat ballistic. His behavior and words could cost him votes from discerning Conservatives in the primaries following. And, maybe if Trump gets convicted on one of the bogus felony charges before Super Tuesday, March 5th, 2024, the commonsense vote swing to DeSantis may be decisive.
Then, the true, tantrum-throwing Trump will come out. Like little Ross Perot, but not as funny.
DeSantis would need every vote possible in the swing states to get past whatever vote harvesting the Dems will do. If Trump calls his cult to arms, then they could be the margin of defeat and then some.
Frankly, I like the people in the Trump Cult. I don’t like what they may do if DeSantis wins the Republican nomination. I recall what fun it was and inspiring to be among the “deplorables” at a Trump rally in September 2020. He served well as President. Not as well as he could have – if he weren’t afflicted by his shortcomings. Yet, he set the right course for America in many areas. Actually, he did very well for four years.
DeSantis will do even better. He’s made of tougher stuff. He’s a self-made man coming up from everyday America. He’s served in a combat zone and understands more about conflict and war to be Commander in Chief. He’s governed better than any other governor in the USA. He doesn’t back down to the media.
Unlike Nicki Haley, who is Jeb Bush in a skirt, DeSantis will be better than Reagan in correcting our Nation’s course and better than Trump in draining the swamp.
Trump’s cult will be in high dudgeon if he doesn’t get the nomination. It’ll be their choice to vote their anger in high treason to their actual beliefs or vote for America to win.
The clock is ticking. We’ll know in 4 short months if Trump is Perot 2.0.
