NORAD: From Dozing to Dreaming of Santa

Ah, the North American Aerospace Defense Command, fondly known as NORAD, the vigilant watchmen of our skies, or so we thought. It’s that time of year again when NORAD transforms into Santa’s personal GPS tracker, guiding him on his global gift-giving escapades. How delightful! But pardon me if I’m not too confident in their North Pole prowess this year.

Sure, it’s heartwarming to see how NORAD dedicates resources to monitor Santa’s sleigh as it zips across the globe, ensuring kids worldwide stay hopeful and wide-eyed on Christmas Eve. Yet, one can’t help but wonder if NORAD spent a little too much time practicing their “Ho, Ho, Ho” instead of focusing on their primary duties earlier this year.

Alas, while they’re out there tracking reindeer-powered transportation, one might recall how this same agency, yes, the very one trusted with safeguarding our airspace, seemed to have nodded off at the switch earlier in 2023. A bit embarrassing, wouldn’t you say? Perhaps Santa should lend them some of his magical caffeine-laden hot cocoa to keep them alert and, you know, doing their job, tracking more critical “assets” than just St. Nick’s sleigh.

Let’s all collectively cross our fingers and hope that NORAD displays more dedication to keeping tabs on Santa’s whereabouts than they did with their intelligence assets earlier this year. After all, it’s easier to spot a red-suited man flying on a sleigh than a stealthy aircraft sneaking through radar, right?

So here’s to hoping that NORAD, after their dozing episode, will be in top-notch shape to deliver on their Santa surveillance duty. Because if there’s one thing we can’t afford to miss, it’s jolly old St. Nick’s voyage around the world – it’s far too crucial for our global holiday cheer, unlike some other “assets” they might have overlooked
