Mind Control – Trump Style

If there is one thing the Donald understands, it’s money. He knows that if you want to stimulate the economy, Americans need more money to spend. It’s not rocket science, but it’s clearly beyond the reasoning ability of the Democrat leadership. If the economy is struggling, there are only two things the government can do to help. It can get out of everyone’s way, or it can cut back on picking everyone’s pockets.

It’s hard for some Americans to appreciate how the “get out of the way” tactic helps them – unless they’re a business owner – because it helps indirectly and over time . But if Uncle Sam spends less time with his hand in their pocket on payday, they understand that – immediately. So, Donald Trump – the Hight Priest of MAGA – proposed eliminating income taxes on tips. It’s only a coincidence that such a proposal moves a rather large voting block into the “our experiment with socialism didn’t work so let’s try something else” column.

Just like that, the Donald accomplished the impossible. He got the Dems to call for a tax cut. Cackles Harris had a totally original idea to eliminate taxes on tips (and she didn’t even say “too”). Then Gropy Joe did his best John Kerry imitation, announcing that when it comes to taxing tips, he is against it after he was for it. Joe announced that he would proudly sign the bill if Congress takes tips out of the “taxable income” line on everybody’s form 1040. Presumably his 80,000 new IRS agents will be told to lay off the waiters and get back to pouring over Trump’s tax returns.

This whole episode has been like some weird Obi-Wan Kenobi mind trick in which the Donald planted thoughts in the heads of the dim-witted. Trump formulated an idea in his head, and then it popped out of the mouths of the Democrat brain trust – without any screaming about what it would do to the deficit, or it only benefiting the wealthy service workers.

Unfortunately, there probably isn’t enough time to get this legislation passed. It’s only a few weeks before congressmen skedaddle home to beg for two more years, to deliver on the promises they broke from 2022. But wouldn’t it be grand if the House called Joe’s bluff and passed the tip tax exemption bill in record time? The Senate would be cornered into passing too. If they didn’t it would make Kamala look stupider (sorry, I know it’s not a word, but it fits best).

If that were to happen, Donald Trump could brag that he got taxes cut without even being elected yet. Then he could see if his Jedi powers of persuasion could fool the Dems into cutting Social Security taxes too.
