A Vote for “Joy” Is a Vote for Idiocracy

The radicals who have infiltrated our institutions have spent decades dumbing down the electorate. They have used the media, academia, and political advocacy groups to create the “feelings” voting bloc. The “feelings” voters are the hedonists who care more about their emotions today than tomorrow’s outcomes. The United States has reached the pinnacle of emotional politics. A candidate of for President is running on a platform of “joy.”

Kamala Harris knows who her base is. They aren’t thinkers, they’re feelers. She won’t solidify their support by convincing them she can run the country. They’re unconcerned about that. She’ll win their votes by convincing them that a voter for her, is a vote for “hope and joy.”

Kamala knows that she doesn’t need to debate the issues or answer questions about her policy positions to keep her base in line. With a bunch of smiling pictures – and a few tweets hitting on all the right buzz words – she’ll easily stay within 1 or 2 percent of her opponent. Throw in a bit of creative ballot counting and some disinformation about her opponent, and it may be enough to win. That’s her strategy.

My wife got into a heated discussion with a friend, whom I’ll call Jane, last week. Jane is from the bluest of blue states, Minnesota. However, Jane holds very center right views.

  • She is offended by the radical transgenderism infecting schools and sports.
  • She thinks opening our borders to illegal immigration is insane.
  • She knows we’ve had problems in the past, but thinks our current focus on racism is overblown nonsense.
  • She’s concerned about the explosion of crime in Minneapolis.
  • She’s worried about where runaway government spending will lead.

Yet, Jane loves Tim Walz, voted for him twice, and intends to vote for Kamala Harris in November. She believes that a vote for Kamala is a vote for “hope and joy” and against “despair and misery.”

My wife attempted to find common ground by discussing the issues, but Jane always defaulted to: “But I despise Donald Trump.” Jane is unconcerned about today’s or tomorrow’s problems. She’s uninterested in policies or their likely outcomes. She just knows in her heart that voting Democrat “feels right.” That is precisely the attitude that the Dems want Jane to have. Don’t be distracted by the facts, surrender to your feelings.

To help us feel good, Kamala promises to

  • Protect us from hurt feelings – if we give up our right to speak.
  • Protect us from poverty – it we let the government control commerce.
  • Protect us from climate change – if we accept servitude.
  • Protect us from bad decisions – if we give up the right to make choices.
  • Accept our moral failings – if we agree to normalize depravity.

Candidate Harris doesn’t need to deliver happiness (or joy), she just needs to convince her voters that checking the left box on the ballot will give them euphoria in the moment. She needs her base to vote for the “high,” and not think about the hangover which she will provide.

Unfortunately, the feelings voters don’t understand that happiness isn’t a choice – it is a pursuit. As the Declaration of Independence states:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. (emphasis added)

We do not have a right to happiness, and Kamala can’t deliver joy. We have a right to pursue it, and hopefully achieve it by making the right choices. Joy results from making sound choices, and doing the things that enable it. One must do the work to achieve it.

Of course Kamala wants her voters to think everything on the left is a perpetual party. But, is happiness an inherent attribute of the radical left? Do mass shooters with gender dysphoria, murder others because they’re overwhelmed with joy? Do pro-Hamas students seem to be happy as they demand the extermination of all Jews? Did the BLM protesters burn cities down out of an abundance of joy? Do climate fanatics like Greta Thunberg seem like happy warriors, laboring to save the planet?

In fact, the “joy” voters all seem miserable because they don’t understand the fundamental truth that joy comes from within and requires us to do the work. For some, joy comes from building a relationship with God. Some find happiness through professional achievement. For others it comes from securing the future of their family. Joy is the product of work, not a ballot choice – though Kamala hopes her base never discovers that.

In voting, as in other aspects of life, bad choices lead to bad outcomes. Voting for a candidate who will crash the economy, destabilize the world, advance moral relativism, and facilitate crime will not provide the promised “joy.” Policies matter.

Kamala’s promise of “hope and joy” is a lie from the most deceptive presidential ticket in modern history. To see the lie, one need only compare what Kamala says she will do, and analyze how that will make us feel – tomorrow. But that requires intellectual engagement beyond the reading of yard signs and bumper stickers. It requires doing one’s homework and making sound choices today, so that happiness is achieved tomorrow.

”Hope and joy” voters put their guy in office in 2020, and they stand a good chance of putting their gal in office this year. November’s election will be a contest between the juvenile “feelings” voters and the adult “responsibility” voters. As a nation we will be deciding if we will entrust our “joy” to the benevolence of others, or whether we will take responsibility for pursuing happiness ourselves. It’s ironic that the Democrats keep promising to preserve democracy – as they turn us into an idiocracy.

  1. John, Thank you for your thoughtful piece. Harris absolutely makes me ill… you put words towards a lot of what I was thinking. She is appealing to the women and the effeminate men, not for real red-blooded Americans. Patriots & thinkers would never consider that hag. Thanks again.🇺🇸
