Got Freedom? Not If Big Government Has a Say in Your Milk

15Once again, our beloved government has decided that it knows best, rolling up its sleeves to meddle in places where it doesn’t belong. This time, it’s coming for the hardworking farmers of Michigan. You’d think with all the real issues plaguing the state—illegal immigration, rising crime rates, and an opioid epidemic that’s decimating entire communities—the government might have bigger fish to fry. But no, apparently the real crisis is raw milk. Because obviously, nothing says “public health threat” quite like a farmer selling a jug of unpasteurized milk to his neighbor.

The state of Michigan has taken it upon itself to become the nanny of every citizen, and their latest target? Small farmers who just want to make an honest living and feed their families. Instead of letting people choose what food they want to consume, the government has stepped in with its usual heavy-handed tactics, making it nearly impossible for these farmers to sell their products directly to consumers. And why, you ask? Because Big Government and Big Industry have been sharing a cozy bed for years, and they’ve decided that small-time producers are bad for business.

Apparently, in the eyes of the government, a jug of raw milk is more dangerous than a street full of fentanyl. Forget about the opioid crisis, the crumbling infrastructure, or the fact that your rights are slowly being eroded. The real danger, according to Michigan lawmakers, is unregulated dairy. Because nothing keeps bureaucrats up at night quite like the thought of someone enjoying a glass of milk that hasn’t been approved by fifteen government agencies and a dairy conglomerate.

And it’s not just about raw milk. This is part of a broader agenda to squeeze out anyone who dares to produce their own food or sell it directly to the consumer. The government, in all its infinite wisdom, has decided that we need more layers of red tape between our food and our dinner plates. Big Agriculture loves this, of course. Why compete with local farmers who sell fresh, wholesome products when you can lobby the government to regulate them out of existence? It’s the perfect business model: crush the little guy, monopolize the market, and let the politicians rake in the campaign cash.

So here we are, in the land of the free, where you’re free to buy whatever processed, mass-produced junk food you want—but God forbid you buy milk straight from a cow. Michigan’s nanny state strikes again, reminding us that our health, our food, and our freedom are best left in the hands of bureaucrats who wouldn’t know a dairy farm from a food pyramid.
