On Thursday’s David Webb show* caller Tyler, brought up what he called, “the elephant in the room.” The discussion focused on the now declared, terrorist attack on Bourbon Street, New Orleans, where an apparent ISIS supporter murdered 14** people and injured 30 others. The assailant drove his truck through a crowd of New Year’s Eve revelers, jumped out and shot several before being engaged and killed by police officers already on the scene.
Tyler concluded that we keep ignoring or deflecting from the real issue. He believes that there is no such thing as “radical Islam.” His contention that mainstream Islam and its theological basis, the Koran, fully supports the type of activity we saw in New Orleans, in New York on 9-1-1 and numerous other occasions. He is correct.
Sadly, distortion of the language by the left inhibits our ability to deal with and prevent such attacks.
When then Candidate (2016) Donald Trump opined that we should stop all Muslim immigration “until we can figure out what is going on,” perhaps he stumbled on something we have yet to recognize, that Radical Islam—isn’t radical. It’s actually mainstream. We conservatives made some serious political hay (with good reason) about President Obama’s failure to use the words, “radical Islamic terrorism,” when describing the attack on 9-1-1, the horrific mass murder in Orlando and other terror attacks here in the U.S.
Maybe we were looking at this the wrong way. Perhaps the problem isn’t radical Islam. Perhaps the problem is Islam in its entirety. Before we begin pearl clutching and strident cries of “Racist!!,” answer this: At what point does a radical politico-religious extreme, become a mainstream religious belief?
When does it become “OK” for a sitting member of Congress (Rep Ilhan Omar comes to mind) to issue anti-Semitic comments on the floor of the House? Given her history of outrageous commentary about Jews, Congress could see fit to respond appropriately to her comments during a committee hearing. With a maximum of sound and fury, Congress managed to merely pass a resolution, signifying…nothing, not even naming Representative Omar for history of hatful remarks about Jews and Israel. Instead, Congress used the “Dryfuss Affair,” as their example…a pre-World War II incident where a French Officer was convicted of espionage, merely because he was also a Jew.
There are some interesting surveys out there regarding Muslim attitudes by the Pew Research Center.
These findings are scary, especially considering that “radical,” supposedly means, at the far end of the spectrum and only 1 percent or less of the survey population.
Here are some of the findings:
As of 2010, there were 1.6 billion Muslims worldwide, or 23% percent of the population.
Latest estimates put Muslims at just under 1% of the U.S population at 2.75 million, 63% percent of which are immigrants.
Pew projects that by 2150, Muslims will outnumber the Jewish faith, becoming the second most populous religion at 2.1% of the U.S. Population, a little more than double today’s rate. Extrapolating forward, we are talking over 5.5 million Muslims in the U.S.
Taken by themselves, those numbers would cause little concern. However, Muslim attitudes both in the U.S. and worldwide, should give us all pause. A Washington Post Article regarding Muslim attitudes regarding homosexuality, titled: “Here are the ten countries where homosexuality may be punishable by death,” notes that Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Pakistan & Afghanistan, all U.S. allies, have death penalty statutes regarding the practice of homosexuality.
Abhorrent to Americans as that may be, it’s difficult to paint that viewpoint as “extreme,” when it is the legal position of duly constituted governments, some of which are U.S. allies in the war on “radical Islamic terrorism.”
Closer to home, the Pew study looked at the opinions of Muslims residing in the United States. One interesting finding:
More generally, Muslims mostly say that suicide bombings and other forms of violence against civilians in the name of Islam are rarely or never justified, including 92% in Indonesia and 91% in Iraq. In the United States, a 2011 survey found that 86% of Muslims say that such tactics are rarely or never justified. An additional 7% say suicide bombings are sometimes justified and 1% say they are often justified in these circumstances.
Using these percentages, coupled with the current Muslim population (1% claiming violence is often justified x 2.75 million) that’s at least 27,500 U.S. Muslims who believe violence in the form of suicide bombers is often justified in support of Islam. Note that these numbers do not include the unknowable number of Islamists who have illegally and surreptitiously crossed our southern border under the Biden administration.
In an attempt to divert from Muslim atrocities, some Muslim apologists point out Christianity, with its Inquisition and Crusades, is “just as bad” as current Muslim terrorism. Not only were the Crusades over 700 years ago, but this viewpoint also ignores another important fact; Islam is the only one of the World’s major “religions” that has yet to undergo a reformation. Lieutenant General (Retired) Michael Flynn, former Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency (and target of the Mueller political prosecution) in his book, The Field Of Fight said,
“The world badly needs an Islamic Reformation, and we should not be surprised if violence is involved. It’s normal.”
Polls may show that a clear majority of Muslims abhor violence, but until they actively do something to reform the clear plurality of Muslims who support it, innocent men, women and children—yes children, will continue to be murdered by this theocratic terrorist element that although not a majority, is by no means looked at as “extreme” by a goodly part of the Muslim world.
Whatever happens, our Constitutional, Representative Republic, with it’s protections for individual liberty, especially religious liberty, will have to come to grips with this—sooner rather than later. Maybe Trump is right. Maybe we should halt all Muslim immigration until “we figure out what is going on,” and those so called, “moderate Muslims,” that’s YOU Rep Omar, nudge their politico-military-religious construct, towards meaningful reformation.
Radical Islam isn’t radical, it’s mainstream and Representative Ilhan Omar (D) Minnesota, is just one example.
As my good friend and colleague Timothy Shea (Twitter: @thereckoningTNT) says,
“The people who westerners refer to as “good Muslims,” faithful Muslims consider apostates.”
Something to consider.

No one wants to hear this, or think this, or act on this one fact: Muslims are the enemy of western civilization & cannot be trusted or assimilated into our beliefs. Never, ever. The modern West is too weak after decades of being told we must accept other beliefs, give them a place in our country, be nice to those who hate us. So, in the end, the west loses its power. Look at England, France, Germany, shell countries, hollowed out already by these sick & vicious people.
They won’t stop till we’re equally destroyed. Put that on your calendar, as my grandmother used to say.
