Rosie’s Exit: Proof That Trump’s America Is Already Winning

Well, folks, it looks like America is already winning again—at least if you measure success by who’s voluntarily packing their bags. Actress and comedienne Rosie O’Donnell, the longtime critic of U.S. President Donald Trump and self-appointed voice of resistance, has announced she’s ditching the U.S. for Ireland. And I’ve got to say, I can’t imagine too many people waving tearful goodbyes.

I’ll give credit where it’s due: Rosie was decent in the movie A League of Their Own. She played a brash, no-nonsense ballplayer. But ever since then, she’s been far more interested in political grandstanding than entertaining. And let’s be honest—her feud with Trump has been a grudge rather than a policy critique.

Her decision to leave just as Trump settles back into the Oval Office is almost poetic. It’s like a live-action version of “If [insert celebrity] wins, I’m moving to Canada,” except this time, someone followed through. That alone is worth noting because, for all the Hollywood threats of mass celebrity departures, they rarely happen. Yet here we are—Rosie, one of Trump’s loudest, most persistent critics, has looked at America under 45 (again) and decided, ‘Nah, I’m out.

This raises an interesting point: If Trump’s return is so catastrophic, why is she heading to Ireland instead of, say, leading the charge for her so-called resistance? For someone who’s spent years claiming democracy was in danger, this exit seems a little… well, unpatriotic. You rarely respond if you truly believe a nation is on the brink of ruin. Well, that’s enough for me. I’m off to drink Guinness and admire rolling green hills.

Maybe she’s just finally taking her advice. Or maybe, deep down, she realizes that Trump’s America isn’t quite the dystopian nightmare she’s been ranting about. Because if it were, you’d think she’d want to stay and fight, right?

The Hollywood Tradition of Empty Threats

Hollywood elites clutch their pearls every election cycle and threaten to leave the country if the outcome doesn’t go their way. When George W. Bush won reelection in 2004, many actors and musicians vowed to pack their bags. When Trump won in 2016, the list was even longer—Miley Cyrus, Lena Dunham, Cher, Bryan Cranston, and Samuel L. Jackson swore they were out of there. Yet, somehow, they all stuck around, continuing their careers and cashing in on the country they claimed to despise.

To her credit, Rosie is the rare case of someone following through. But let’s be honest—she’s not exactly roughing it. She isn’t some brave political prisoner who exiles herself to the mountains, living off the land. She’s moving to a gorgeous, peaceful country with universal healthcare, a rich cultural history, and an affinity for Americans who come waving cash.

Trump’s Greatest Achievement? An America Without Rosie

If you asked Trump supporters for a list of campaign promises they wanted to be fulfilled in record time, I doubt Make Rosie O’Donnell Leave the Country was on it. But, hey, here we are.

Rosie and Trump’s feud goes back years before he entered politics. She made herself a prime target by mocking his business ventures, questioning his intelligence, and famously feuding with him on The View. Trump, never one to back down from a fight, hit back with insults about her weight, career, and general unpleasantness. Their public clashes were brutal, often juvenile, and undeniably entertaining in that “watching a train wreck” way.

And now, after all these years, it seems Trump got the last laugh: She’s gone. Voluntarily. It’s just pure choice without a nudge from ICE forcing her out. If anything, this might be unexpected proof that Trump’s second term is working. After all, if his policies are so unbearable to the far-left, isn’t their self-imposed exile the best endorsement of his effectiveness?

What Does Rosie’s Departure Say About the Left?

There’s something inherently amusing about how the same people who shout the loudest about “saving muh democracy” are also the first to leave when things don’t go their way. If you truly believed a second Trump presidency was an existential threat, wouldn’t you want to stay and fight for the country’s future? Instead, Rosie heads for greener pastures.

And here’s the kicker: She’s choosing Ireland, a country that, while progressive, still has a strong national identity, a controlled immigration system, and a Catholic-rooted culture. For someone who constantly railed against conservatives in America, it’s ironic that she’s choosing a place where traditional values are still deeply embedded in the culture.

But perhaps that’s the point. Maybe she’s realized that Ireland, despite all its progressiveness, isn’t as chaotic as the U.S. has become in recent years. Maybe she’s tired of the culture war she helped fuel.

Will Rosie Stay Gone?

Of course, this all assumes she actually stays in Ireland. It’s easy to announce you’re leaving, but it’s another thing to permanently move. If Rosie rants about Trump in Ireland, and nobody sees it, did it happen?

Or will she make an inevitable, dramatic return to the U.S. if she decides the Emerald Isle isn’t as exciting as she thought? If history tells us anything, the answer is yes.

Hollywood celebrities are notorious for over-the-top gestures followed by swift reversals. If the whole of Ireland thing doesn’t pan out, expect a tearful, emotionally charged interview about how she misses home and wants to keep fighting.

But for now, let’s take a moment to acknowledge what’s happened here. Rosie O’Donnell has removed herself from the America she’s spent years complaining about. Trump didn’t deport her. His supporters didn’t force her out. She just… left.

And honestly? That might be the best early win of this new administration.

Bon voyage, Rosie. Enjoy Ireland. And if you ever miss the good ol’ U.S. of A., well… you know where to find us

It should be noted that the lovely Miss O’Donnell is mostly washed up, so her self-deportation isn’t that much of a sacrifice. And, with housing and other prices in Ireland being far, far lower than in Hollyweird, she’ll actually see a financial advantage.
