Here’s something astonishing: the Passover story and the crucifixion of Jesus are not just similar events—they are mirror images. The blood of the lamb saved the Israelites from death; the blood of Christ, according to the Bible, saves humanity from sin and eternal separation from God. One was national redemption; the other, universal. But the pattern is the same. And patterns, when they repeat across millennia, should make us stop and think.
Skeptics often say that religions and myths come and go. And that’s true. But the truth doesn’t fade. It endures. It strengthens. It resurfaces even after being suppressed. Jesus is the most written about, analyzed, debated, and followed person in human history. And not by a narrow, provincial group—by people across the entire globe. That’s an objective reality, regardless of belief. The question is why.
Here’s a challenge: imagine if Jesus had never existed. What would be missing from the world? What stories would we tell instead? What would shape our ideas of justice, sacrifice, and redemption? Even for those who reject Christianity, the moral and philosophical foundations of Western civilization are built on this story. It’s too deep, too woven into history to ignore.
So here’s the real Easter question: Is it possible that truth has been staring us in the face for 2000 years, and we’ve just gotten used to it? That something this enduring—this transformative—is not just another story, but The Story? Maybe it’s worth looking again. Maybe it’s worth asking: If a lie can’t last two millennia, what does that say about the truth?
Happy Easter 2025.
