It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the death of Alma McClure Womack, of one of our favorite writers here at American Free News Network.
A native of Louisiana, Alma was a very young 76 at her passing on May 31. As an AFNN writer, she was smart, sassy, fearless, and outspoken. In addition to writing for AFNN, Alma was also a frequent contributor to the Jena Times, the Catahoula News Booster, Bluffs and Bayous, Red State, and The American Thinker.
Alma was an unapologetic conservative and, to quote her obituary, “fiercely patriotic,” and “an unreconstructed Southerner.” To know Alma—and you felt like you knew her if you read her work—was to know that she loved her home, Smithland Plantation near Jonesville, Louisiana. She was devoted to her family, her gardening, the Block High School Class of 1966, and her “faithful pack of dogs.”
Alma was generous–she and I became acquainted by reading one another’s posts, and as a result, we exchanged the fruits of our gardens. She used my Jalepeño Peach Jelly as a glaze for her ham, and I spread her Mayhaw Jelly on biscuits until the jar was empty.
We will miss her acerbic wit, her bravery to write and say exactly what she thought, and her wise heart. We offer our prayers for peace and comfort to her friends and family.
It’s hard to imagine someone like Alma resting in peace, so for now, we’ll just say, “See you on the other side, Alma.” You remain beloved in our hearts.
