On Tuesday, July 29, AD 2025, the Trump Administration finally began the process of taking on one of the world’s most dangerous cults.
No, this isn’t about scientology or islam or satanism, though the lie at its heart has some things in common with all other false religions…
This is about the global warming cult.
If this sounds like hyperbole to you, then you haven’t argued about carbon dioxide with one of the millions of strident victims of this hoax. Those of us who have battled with acolytes of this utterly convoluted belief system know that it permeates the souls of its believers in a way few things have in human history.
We should know the basic background by now: the theory is that uncontrolled increases of carbon dioxide in Earth’s atmosphere since the dawn of the industrial revolution are rapidly causing the earth’s surface to get warmer, in a way that will cause the polar ice caps to disappear, coastal cities to be flooded and submerged, and millions to die. The theory came to political prominence in the United States mostly due to former Senator Al Gore’s alarmist 1992 screed, “Earth in the Balance,” and soon became a global religion of the Left, as it made millions of dollars for Gore and its other champions.
In 2009, the Obama regime used federal resources to develop a very one-sided “Technical Support Document” as backup for their “Endangerment Finding” – a policy statement that the United States government declares the problem of global warming to be an existential crisis for the USA and the World, requiring immediate action to address the pollution of carbon dioxide and its contribution to the dangerous effects of “greenhouse gases” being released by human civilization into the atmosphere.
In the years since, numerous independent studies have found – and proven – that the case for such a conclusion is fatally flawed for a number of reasons, among them:
- Much of the data (such as the famous “hockey stick” chart) was outright fabricated, using such crooked techniques as cherry picking the data points to use and discarding the data points that don’t fit the hypothesis.
- Research funding, academic hiring, grants and publication were all made conditional – almost worldwide – upon an individual’s acceptance of the global warming theory. Actually, not just acceptance, but almost rabid endorsement, became a requirement for positions and respect.
- Honorable skeptics were frozen out, and the issue was inoculated against future skeptics by inserting the global warming concept – soon renamed “climate change” – into the press, the pop culture, and the grammar school and high school curriculum, always presented not as a theory, but as a given.
And why was this all done?
Because if it’s true – in fact, only if it’s unanimously accepted as a fundamental, existential threat facing all of humanity – then all sorts of otherwise illegal and unconstitutional measures could be easily justified.
If global warming – as presented as above, and championed by the Left – is real, then it justifies almost unlimited tyranny in the minds of its adherents.
Our government is not allowed to tell our manufacturers what kind of products to make, as long as they’re not intentionally dangerous. Our government cannot shut down the critical power plants that power the electric grid, unless they’re proven to be a clear and present danger. Our government cannot get into our bathroom cabinets and force us to switch from a spray deodorant to a stick, or from an aerosol hair spray to a pump, unless the ones we are using are proven to be serious dangers.
Well, what could be more dangerous than something causing the end of all life on this planet?
If they could prove that case to a gullible public, then anything goes.
The purpose of the Endangerment Finding of 2009 was to take this unproven theory and use it to make all the above claims and more. The Endangerment Finding declared that our government – and all governments – must disregard the normal restrictions and take measures in violation of our constitutions, in violation of our economic interests, in violation of our civil rights.
The Endangerment Finding was a lighted match, applied to the Constitution of the United States, to enable the federal government to do everything that a properly limited government could never even consider.
This is what the Departments of Energy and Transportation and even Defense and Treasury have used as justification to ban all sorts of affordable, positive, useful products and practices, and to force replacement systems that are costlier, less efficient, and more often than not, built in China.
By what right does the federal government force our car companies to switch from internal combustion engines to lithium ion batteries, practically bankrupting the automakers and making them dependent on China for parts?
By what right do cities like New York, Los Angeles and Seattle pass laws banning the use of gas appliances in new homes and apartments?
By what right are manufacturers of refrigerators and air conditioners forced to abandon the perfectly functional refrigerants they’ve used for decades, and forced to use new chemicals that cost three or four times as much?
Not by any right at all. But by the Endangerment Finding of 2009.
The federal government of a nation built on freedom of religion (it’s right there in the Bill of Rights, has been since 1791!) has concocted its own new religion, one cooked up in the 1980s and 90s, carefully designed to empower every big government dream of the bureaucrats and marxists who’ve been worming their way into the halls of power ever since the progressive era a century ago.
The Trump Administration recognizes both this false religion and the very real, pernicious threat behind it, and the Secretary of Energy and the EPA Administrator set teams in place this year to take a fresh look at the Endangerment Finding and respond.
They responded on July 29, AD 2025.
The DOE released a report – “The DOE Scientific Report Underpinning the EPA’s Decision to Reconsider the 2009 Endangerment Finding of CO2” – and carefully identified many of the Obama regime’s flaws in both methodology and conclusions.
The process has now been set in place to repeal all federal efforts to control, track, or tax carbon dioxide emissions. We are on track to acknowledging reality: that in fact, CO2 is obviously not a poison.
There is at long last an end in sight to this tyranny.
What rational scientists and economists have recognized from the beginning is that carbon dioxide is a natural, fundamental, and necessary part of our earthly existence. All animal life (including, Gentle Reader, both you and me!) produces CO2 when we exhale, and all plant life depends on it for its very existence, just as we depend on the oxygen that the plants produce in response.
It isn’t just wrong to brand CO2 as a villain, it’s insane and suicidal.
But it’s everywhere, and that’s why the Left loves the idea so much. If they can brand an unavoidable product – the very gas we all exhale – as an enemy, they can tax it, they can punish producers, they can justify any form of abuse. Even though it’s utterly unconstitutional, they can convince a gullible public that it’s just too important an issue to be held back by the law.
Note the timing of all this. Global communism was collapsing in the late 1980s; by the time Al Gore’s book hit the bookstores, the Berlin Wall had come down and the dying Soviet Union had lost its hold on its Eastern European satellites. The Left’s advocacy of the dying belief system of Marxism was on track to destroying the Left’s very raison d’etre.
The global warming myth was carefully crafted to take its place. By adopting this new religion, they could advocate anything they wanted – outrageous taxes, the redirection of utilities, material regulation of industry, subsidizing or banning of products, even the takeover of millions of acres of land for the installation of utterly inefficient Chinese solar panels and Chinese windmills.
And so they have.
And so… we have much to fix, much damage to undo.
It’s important to note that the Trump Administration isn’t the “denier” that the Left slanders them all as being; the government researchers on the project acknowledge that not all the data is in, that the climate is always changing, and has always changed, and it’s certainly possible that human activity could in fact have something small to do with this predominantly natural phenomena (which is in truth far more minor than the fearmongers have claimed anyway).
However, this team has shown how the data that backed the 2009 declaration was cooked, overstated, and outlandish, that the conclusions that leftist politicians spout are wild exaggerations of even the scariest predictions of the Left’s own data. That there is simply no reason at all to think human activity is enough of a part of whatever changes are going on to justify illegal and tyrannical measures, or massive and economically destructive taxation schemes such as “carbon credits,” or shaming people just for wanting ovens that work and HVAC that cools and cars that run.
The Left has based countless crimes, from the over-taxation of an innocent public to the destruction of whole industries, from the intentional waste of useful agricultural land to the redirection of wealth from the western economies to Red China.
And on July 29, 2025, we finally began to stand up for the law, for human rights, and for our future survival. May Divine Providence bless and protect this administration, especially Energy Secretary Chris Wright, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, and their teams, as they keep fighting this battle for our nation’s future.
