The Democrat shut down of the Federal Government holds back federal funds to help feed one in eight Americans. Almost 42m Americans get food assistance? No, 42m PERSONS living in America get food assistance. If, of course 42m, isn’t a bogus number because there is so much fraud. This isn’t the Great Depression somethings are very wrong if 42m people have the government help them buy food. How should America feed its poor?
First, America should feed its poor. Not the illegal aliens living on the government dollar. Deport 20m or so illegal aliens. When, that task is completed how many millions of authentic Americans are feeding at the government trough?
Regardless of how many millions are removed, the remainder is an unacceptable number. At least it should be unacceptable to Americans that the government feeds people. Its up to us, you and me, to feed the hungry.
That personal responsibility is established in the Holy Bible and Torah for Christians and Jews.
The responsibility isn’t the job of the Federal Government according to the U.S. Constitution – as written, not as imagined by judges. Although, the states could take food distribution upon themselves as one of their “plenary” powers. Hopefully, the good citizens of every state would insist on their state stepping back and let the People do what is right.
[The crowd murmurs. Politicians sputter. Media gasps. Clergy look confused.]
Oh, you want to know what should – should – happen if the U.S stops spending $142.2 billion @ year on Federal food programs?
Stay with me as we work backwards to show and tell.
First, understand that it takes 3 to 4 dollars* to spend 1 dollar of Federal bucks in goods or services. So, 3 to 4 dollars in taxes must be collected to spend 1 dollar. Or, going with Grok say it takes 2.5 dollars out of the economy to spend 1 dollar. That’s the measure of Federal government efficiency and lost elasticity of capital growth.
Therefore, cut taxes by 2.5 times the amount spent. Cut taxes by (142.2b x 2.5) $355.5b. Cut it by the tax credit or tax cut which spreads the cut to the most Americans as possible. Realizing that about half the country doesn’t pay a penny in federal income taxes.
The $355.5 billion back in the pockets of Americans is way more than what the Federal Government is spending.
Second, the money back in the hands of The People provides food for the poor through families, churches, and charities.
There’s more than enough food available. Americans suffer food disorders from too much and the wrong kinds of foods not the starvation illnesses for want of food.
There’s more than enough money to pay for it.
The government didn’t feed people until the churches gave up their charity duty to the Government in the Great Depression.
Families, churches, and charities must pick it up again. Especially if you have a year’s transition of tax cuts before ending the programs.
[Virtue signaling voices of outrage clamor: Children will go hungry! People will starve!]
No, they won’t. Name the city or county in the US where The People won’t provide for the poor who don’t have family to feed them. Name which one of your family members you’ll let starve. Who in your church will you not feed? Which neighbor gets no soup?
The Liberal billionaires won’t feed people? The Liberal non-profit philanthropic foundations sitting on at least $1.5 trillion? Say it’s not so.
Families, churches, and charities won’t have food stamps that can be sold for drugs. They won’t have people cheating to milk the government cash cow.
My little church works with our local foodbank and city government to hand out food every month. We’ll provide Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. If our membership had more money because of lower taxes, we’d feed even more.
Your elected officials will cower at the idea of ending inefficient, wasteful billions of dollars because they lack the confidence and courage to convince a voting majority on the goodness of great change. They can’t sell the effectiveness, efficiency, humanity, Constitutionality, and personal righteousness of The People feeding the American people.
Still, food programs should be ended after the tax cuts are made to feed Americans better.
It’ll take new politicians or a busted, broke government to do it.
*This data point of 3 to 4 dollars in to get 1 dollar out is from Herman K. Bator’s macroeconomic model of the U.S. economy. It’s dated information. Grok says it is more like 2.5 dollars in to get 1 dollar out today.
