In a just country, assaults on law enforcement officers would be punished more harshly than assaults on civilians. Not because a police officer’s life is worth more than anyone else’s, but because an attack on a policeman is more than an attack on an individual. It is an attack on the institution which “we the people” have commissioned to maintain order. When one of our agents is attacked, it is an attack on all of us, and must be deterred accordingly – not as a simple crime, but as an attack on our institution.
In a just country, those in criminal justice who violate their oath would be punished more harshly than petty criminals. Not just because they abused the power of their office, but because they undermined public confidence in the institution which “we the people” have entrusted with awesome powers. When a cop commits a crime, it undermines the credibility of all cops, and should be deterred accordingly – not as a simple crime, but as a gateway to social chaos.
Apparently, America can no longer claim to be a just county.
On April 18, 2025, Milwaukee Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan – who is sworn to uphold the Constitution and the laws of the land – attempted to help an illegal alien evade arrest by federal agents. She was arrested for obstruction.
In December of 2025, Judge Dugan was convicted, by a jury of “we the people” for violating 18 U.S.C. § 1505 – felony obstruction. It is a crime punishable by up to 5 years in prison, and a fine of $250,000. Consistent with federal sentencing guidelines, prosecutors recommended a sentence of 15-21 months in prison.
So, how much time behind bars did Hannah Dugan get for breaking the law, violating her oath, and undermining public faith in the judicial system? None. Not a single day of incarceration.
On July 8th of 2026, “Clinton Judge” Lynn Adelman fined Hannah Dugan $5,000. That’s it. No jail time. No probation. No contrition. No deterrence. Her sentence may not even result in loss of her law license.
“Clinton Judge” Adelman’s decision was a great big judicial “middle-finger,” to the jury and the legislators who codified the law under our authority.
We now have not one, but two additions to the cast of judges determined to destroy public confidence in our judicial branch for political expedience – Hannah Dugan and Lynn Adelman.
In a just country, how should “we the people” respond to an institution which has systemically violated our trust? With harsh consequences.
Maybe it’s time for an amendment eliminating qualified immunity for judges, making them subject to the same legal risks that doctors, lawyers, contractors, and businessmen face every day. Why should they be treated any different than other professionals?
Perhaps we should have an amendment empowering a majority of states to do what Congress refuses to do – remove miscreant judges from the bench. Is it possible that judges in Washington DC might behave differently if states like Texas, Florida, and Idaho could band together to remove them?
Clearly, a Congress unable to pass the SAVE Act, is incapable of reining in our court system. But the states could do it via an Article V convention. The list of reasons to call a convention of states is very long, and getting longer by the day.
