I’m about to say something controversial. Buckle up.
You need a license to drive a car. A license to cut hair. A license to catch fish. A license to carry a concealed weapon. But any two people can create a human life with ZERO accountability?
I teach at a high-need, high-risk school. Every student gets free lunch. Not because the district’s generous but because EVERY family qualifies.
Last week I made TEN parent phone calls. Left messages on every number that wasn’t disconnected. Know how many called back?
ZERO.
I’ve got families with 8 kids from 3 different dads. Mom hasn’t held a job in a decade. Kids show up to school dirty, hungry, falling asleep in class because nobody puts them to bed at a reasonable hour. Some of my students are the SOLE BREADWINNER of their family because both parents sit at home getting high all day.
That’s not parenting. That’s child abuse with government funding.
I’m not some disconnected politician. I’m in these trenches EVERY SINGLE DAY watching children suffer because adults refuse to act like adults.
So here’s my radical proposal: THE RESPONSIBLE PARENTING AND CHILD WELFARE ACT.
Every individual gets ONE child absolutely free from government interference. Married couples get TWO total, one per person. Your God-given right. No limits. No licensing. No questions asked.
Want more? GREAT. Just demonstrate you can actually take care of them. Your existing kids attend school regularly. You’re not on welfare. Your children aren’t in foster care because you neglected them.
That’s it. That’s the entire bar. Be a minimally competent parent.
No criminal penalties. No one’s taking your kids away. The only consequence for failing to license? You lose your right to vote until you prove you can handle basic responsibilities.
Radical? Maybe. But here’s what’s actually radical: we’ve created a system where irresponsible reproduction is SUBSIDIZED while responsible families struggle. Have more kids you can’t afford? Here’s more welfare! More food stamps! More housing vouchers!
Quinn’s Law #1: Liberalism always generates the exact opposite of its stated intent.
Welfare was supposed to be a safety net. Instead it became a hammock. The left NEEDS a dependent underclass that will vote for whoever promises the most handouts. It’s the antebellum South all over again, just with different chains.
The 45 Communist Goals read into the Congressional Record on January 10, 1963 by Congressman Albert Herlong included Goal #40: “Discredit the family as an institution.”
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.
Black families went from 80-85% intact two-parent households in the 1950s to fewer than 30% today. That didn’t happen by accident. That’s what happens when you pay women to have children without fathers in the home.
I’m not trying to punish anyone. I’m trying to break cycles of poverty that trap children in misery generation after generation.
Every child deserves parents who WANT them, who can PROVIDE for them, who will actually RAISE them instead of treating them like government ATM cards.
Make parenting an ADULT responsibility again.
But what do I know? I’m just a teacher who makes 10 phone calls and gets zero answers, watching kids suffer every single day while their “parents” collect checks for producing them.
